Why is it necessary to dig out other fans after a result and why does questioning CP's tactics make fans haters? Why can't we just enjoy the performance of the team and the result?
Because there are deluded idiots pouring bile and hatred on a decent man in an almost impossible position trying to do his best with very limited resources and a team whose morale has been affected by uncertainty and broken promises from owners who want out and only care about making a profit from the club. Just keeping this ship from sinking is an achievement in itself. Personally, I'm sick of the haters, and if they succeed in driving him out, then we really will be doomed because no one decent and with half a brain would want to take his place under current circumstances.
Very proud of the boys today - we MUST take this into the Wigan match and NOT freeze on the day - Brum and Leeds are there for the taking as well. COYA!!
Chilling in the premier inn in Blackburn after finally drying out following the end of match downpour! Was lucky enough to catch a lift off some fella called Noah along the Bolton Road. Thanks for that Noah but sort the Elephant crap out in your boat!
Anyway, good performance, reminiscent of Oldham away two seasons ago. All played their part although I felt that Cousins was a little out of his depth and I still struggle to understand Pritchard, but it's all about opinion!
Had to laugh at the young fella behind me. Wilson had a particularly strong first half and after one particular challenge the fella applauded him but then went on to proclaim 'he's still f@&£@&g shit though'! Oh how we mock what we don't understand!
Great save from Hamer in first half and centre backs both solid. Wiggins didn't stop running and when Kermorgant came on he worked like a Trojan. Not seen us lose away for three seasons now, maybe I should go more often!
Boom:) hats off to all the supporters, players and management that got us that win today. I wasn't there, but really pleased with that. I did fear the worst despite the positive performances over the last 2 games. Let us keep rallying round Powell and the team, and make up for the lack of backing from Jimenez and Slater.
This was a great battling performance, that never looked in doubt. We played with confidence from the off. It was a great effort to get in front so early and to hold out for 90 minutes was amazing. The ref played 7 extra minutes second half. The relief on Powell's face said it all as he did his fist pump to the fans three times before going off to rejoice with his squad. For me Hamer was my Man of the Match. His distribution was excellent, kicking out and chasing out to an oncoming forward late on showed his confidence and presence of mind to keep focused. He made some great saves and Rhodes kept him on his toes all match. He may not always show it, but today he was class and all that were there took confidence from his display. The last 15 minutes we parked the bus as Powell said post match. I said to my dad, why on earth are we defending so deep, but the tactic (as it must have been) totally worked, as Rovers just couldn't find any space to work a ball through, such was the pitch being packed with 21 players in our half for what seemed like an eternity.
A great performance and no real luck in it, just hard work. Sordell i'm afraid was my only let down. Don't really like to dig anyone out, but he does have the demeanour of someone that doesn't want to know. I'm sure he does care so maybe it's a ploy to lull the oppo into a false sense of security. My own feeling is he's now pulling his weight!
As others said, the downpour at full time was of biblical proportions. In the 10 minute walk to my car, the roads turned to rivers and I got wet through three layers and my jeans looked like skin tight legging with squelching shoes, which unfortunately had to be worn all the way home.
Just a side note, a few unhappy teenage boys had a bit of a pop at those heading for the '1' away coach. I saw a few getting rugby tackled by stewards and a bit of chanting, but didn't hang around as was with my 12 year old daughter. At that point the heavens opened and it seemed to fizzle out. Anyone else see this?
Great day out at Ewood again. Cheers Chris. The first Saturday of the season we have something to really celebrate. All that were there, have a great weekend. All that weren't, well you missed a memorable victory.
Not sure about the backs to the wall part of today's game. Rovers were clueless in the third 45 after the normal 90. Rhodes showed quality to get a shot away, well saved by Hamer in the first half, followed a free header that he should have made more of but we won a lot of ball on the edge of our box second half. We were effective going forward, on a couple of occasions we could/ should have scored( Dale header most obvious, outstretched arm of keeper taking ball away with Yann flying in like a Vulcan at the far post the most disappointing - would have loved it sooooo much, love goals like that. Best ineffective, really do not get why people rate him, Rhodes faded badly. Defence were good and only occasionally caught out. Saw a negative comment about Pritch on here somewhere, disagree some really good touches, worked well with Yann late on, instrumental in making Rovers back off or winning back possesssion. Really enjoyed today, seen a few of these over last few seasons, like them a lot. I think the word professional sums it up. Again, as I said after Burnley on here, it's a real pity that a few more have not witnessed what we have seen repeatedly over the last three seasons, those lovely away wins in theee north.

No disrespect intended but sounds to me that you are not a fan and maybe a hater of the Board/owners. Just remember that they have kept us afloat, continued to fund a v large deficit, maintained an impressive Academy and have given longterm contracts to a number of our young tyros.
I'm no apologist for TJ & Co but it's not only the gaffer who deserves some credit when it's due.

£7m a season (will be less this season as a result of FFP) could be seen by some as backing by TJ & Co?

As someone who didn't make the long trip I was very interested to hear your opinion of yet to be Marvellous Marvin. Body language far from good but he may actually care - only he will know. Clearly you feel that there is something to work with and maybe a if we could get our wide men/full backs to the deep wide areas, the young man could be offered the type of chances that would enable him to score some goals and improve his body language.
Back home for an hour and finally dried out. The storm after the match was incredible not least because it came out of nowhere. A great win for the boys today and very much deserved. We bossed the first half and the defence limited Blackburn to only a few chances. Ben Hamer was having one of his good days too, catching and punching with confidence, sometimes under a lot of pressure. For the final ten or fifteen minutes we did what we normally do when 1-0 up, ie withdrew deep into our own half and allowed Blackburn to launch wave after wave of attacks. We coped well with the bombardment but why do they keep putting us through this? Kermogant looked classy when he came on and we looked a lot more dangerous for his presence on our rare forays into Blackburn territory in the later stages of the game. Johnny Jackson wasn't on for long enough to make much of an impression. Church had his best game for some time. Looking forward to Wigan now.
Ditto, Bill. Hot cuppa and a 2nd Snickers bar of the day when we finally got home ....Miss Piggy !!
This was the best performance I've seen for some time - very solid defence, cohesive midfield and a striker that's bursting with confidence and definitely knows where the goal is.
Add to this a 'keeper who's starting to look more in control of his area and his distribution , the return of The Beast and Captain Fantastic and some hardcore fans ...and what have you got ?
A Delia type recipe for more points on the board, sooner rather than later.
The stand out players for me today were Dale Stephens , who's beginning to show more consistency and stamped his mark on the game today and Woody , who along with Morro gave Rhodes little room and was a stalwart at the back. Hope the knock he picked up late on isn't serious.
But a final positive was SCP's substitutions...spot on today for me. Unfortunately Sordell didn't do enough once again and a fit Yann together with an impressive & hard working Church will do for me.
Bring on the jaded Wigan !!! ( after their Thurs game and with a straight red for one of their regulars today)
Defensively we were first class, for the third week on the trot. Still think going forward we are lacking creativity and intent. Great ball from Stephens and touch and finish from Church but apart from that there really wasn't much of note but that's all we needed today.
Good to see Kermorgant and Jackson come on at the end. I'd start them both against Wigan.
We kept losing the ball so easily though, need to calm it down and slow the pace down a bit rather than looking for the obvious easy pass and losing it
According to Blackburn fans we were "very poor" and "s***", had no chances apart from the goal and the officials might as well have been wearing Charlton shirts. Plus apparently the goal was blatant handball. Funny that.
Sounds like a good team performance from everyone involved and very good play by Stephens and finish by Church for the goal.
It certainly looks like Church controlled the ball with his arm, but this is something the likes of Defoe & Robbie Keane have got away with for years. Also, neither defender appealed & that is usually a good indication of what actually happened.
"Goalscorers and strikers want to be out there and I just felt [Cox] would add that for us. I'm really pleased for him.
"We've analysed all the games and felt we needed to get back to basics a little bit because you can't just go out there and think you're going to win any game. You have to earn the right.
"It won't always be easy on the eye, even though at times it was from both teams. You have to change accordingly and we certainly did that towards the end of the game.'
Bit rich of bburn to whine about handball seeing as that seemed to be their province on at least 4 occasions, main one on edge of our box first half. Lordy how blinkers on big time.

One of the best posts I have seen on here. Some people, who claim to be Charlton supporters, seem to take great joy when we get beaten so they can post more Powell out threads. Yes we are not doing well but the squad needed strengthening in the Summer and was not strengthened. I do not see who would come in, that we could afford, would do a better job with the squad we have. We beat Blackburn who have spent a lot of money on players. For example,Rhodes cost more than our whole squad.
From the posts from people who were there yesterday and from the games I have seen him play Woody has been very impressive. No thrills centre half who does his job with no fuss. Seems to bring the best out in Morrison too.
Two clean sheets on trot will do Hamer and the back fours confidence a world of good. Pleased for the 200+ who made the journey yesterday.

Agreed. Also, the forest goal was direct from a free kick so it is now 3 games without conceding a goal from open play.
Every player at least a 7/10 and all of them top marks for effort Resolute defending - very organised and disciplined Hamer commanded his area, made a stunning save to touch a volley round the post in the first half and caught and punched well (despite the dig on the FLS... a punch from an awkward cross that lands 15 yards away, even if it is to an opponent is not a "weak" punch!) Richard Wood has really helped as a wise old head at the back... I appreciate what Dervite has done but he seems to be a welcome upgrade and a more consistently available centre half than Cort Stephens controlled the midfield, composed, with poise, won the ball back, kept possession tidily and superb vision and execution for the goal Church such a willing runner, world class chest and finish, sometimes the quality isn't quite there but he is without a doubt a very "Charlton" player in terms of effort and determination Kermorgant added some strength and touch up front when he came on, but more importantly slotted in at the back and won some crucial headers Powell got it absolutely spot on in terms of tactics and subs, right players on and off and right time - Evina in particular is one I would like to see used more in those circumstances at LM, he can help out defensively and bomb on with pace
As for Blackburn, no doubt about it they've got some players and they will be play off contenders and maybe more for as long as Rhodes stays fit and scoring but bloody hell, anyone moaning about the ref... they had a "free" corner in the game when Lowe blasted wide through a crowd, it wasn't even close to anyone and there was no noise so what the ref was thinking no idea, their player basically picking the ball up before having a shot and anyone that wanted to add up how many petty fouls achieved by backing in, jostling and then falling and so on that Rhodes and Best bought would've needed a calculator. Couldn't see a couple of the late decisions at the far end, including the offside and the foul we got in our box in injury time but if they thought the ref favoured us then god help them when they get one that doesn't pander to Rhodes.
Cracking goal by Churchy catching up on the FLS. On a side note I noticed Tony Mowbray did us a favour and hid his face getting off the coach at Barnsley. Must be Halloween soon and doesn't want to scare the kids too early!
