  • Christ that Police report is pretty damming. Sounds like the Wild West.
  • Looks like a bit of a shithole to be honest.

    Was ever thus.
  • unfortunately a lot of towns are turning into shit holes seems to be a lot more drunks and druggies about - for example went Canterbury few weekends back during the day by night time felt like i was back in afghan

  • No sign of a problem in Shrewsbury fortunately.
A lovely place full of pubs, and loads being very pleasant.
I stayed there for a night when we played Shrewsbury on the Tuesday night. Remember it being a lovely room. The steak I had was spot on.

But not like the rest of that area?
Anywhere near Connaught has been rough since we were both youthful.

Ha, bet you wouldn’t say that to Curb_It
  • Gutted to hear about the Anglesey Arms. Had some cracking nights in there, usually for the England games during World Cup/Euros. Was absolutely rocking each time.

Is a real shame. Was a great pub, not many of its like left now and I'd imagine the council will force a few more out eventually. There was also no stabbing and its dissappointing that the murky depths and other sites have reported that as fact. I've heard an appeal has gone in but seems like the cards are stacked against.
Oh well, a nice block of flats it will be...

Has it gone?  Had my first ever beer in there at 15, a bottle of light ale.

The Connaught has long gone. Demolished and replaced by luxury flats.

They have the right to appeal.
  • I think you are using the term luxury a little loosely IMO.

  • Underneath the railway line in Bexley village, I swerved The Millers.
Bexley is very pleasant on a Sunday afternoon.
  • Anyone know if the Kings arms Greenwich is permanently closed or is just a refurb?

Did that use to be Trax (sp) ?

  • I was in Broadstairs yesterday, this cracker of a boozer is two minutes from the station.
They even had a train running around the ceiling of the place.  A delight for any self respecting Charlton anorak.

Charlton Lifers' dream pub. I mean, wow ..... there's even a picture of a signal box!

    @M@MrOneLung that’s correct
  • Some lovely pubs secured for a little bit longer.

For those with a hardier click through disposition, the pictures in the Daily Mail are better...

  • Blythe hill tavern in there. Great boozer to watch some horse racing.

Red Lion also another fav but only ever good early afternoon otherwise gets rammed.

  • Any news on the Anglesea Arms appeal anyone?

  • A pint of Charlton a reasonable £4.75
Before being refurbished this was my favourite pub in Beckenham and Bromley.
  • Good selection of ales there
  • Popped in the new sky bar in Eltham High St after the cinema last night. All very nice, done up well and DJ pumping out some decent old skool tunes. Asahi on tap (£6.20).

Only downside is looking out onto Sports Direct and Peacocks!

    £6.20, you only want one.
  • Two actually!  Do like an Asahi
