  • For those on here who don't like oysters - give cooked ones a try. Tempura oysters, with a light batter, served piping hot with a chilli mayo.

I like them raw or cooked but mates I know who didn't like raw really liked the cooked version.

Why the world has to include them in every single goddamn dish I have no idea.
Thats a good one, onions are definitely over-used in food. However raw onions in a kebab shop burger, cheese and onion sandwich (or one of the Liberal club French sticks with grated cheese and raw onion) are perfect. They repeat on you like a bastard but work, French onion soup done right is glorious too.

I'm on your side here bro, stick with me. Onions are hugely overused and unwelcome on pizza, in chilli, in Indian food, in mince-based dishes like shepherds pie or cottage pie. Tuna and onion, fuck no!

  • what's the problem with pie, mash and liquor? It's alright, fills you up. Or is the problem with people eating it then feeling the need to put their thumbs in their braces and walking bandy legged out the door whistling "me ol' bamboo"?

There's not much I don't like, but cauliflower is probably the closest you'll get. Annoys me on cooking shows to see "cauliflower three ways"/a celebration of cauliflower. There's one way, and that's left in the shop. Cauliflower steak? My ass.

    Strawberry jam in mine. Divine.
  • Pilchard in mine. Straight out of John Lennon's mouth
  • I like oysters. Problem is the last 2 times I've had them I've turned into Cardinal Chunder. As such not sure I'll go back to eating them.

    Semolina with Apple Sauce, delicious.

Also I enjoy a large bowl of Tapioca Pudding,
schoolboys often refer to this as Frogspawn.

  • Most desserts but a special mention for custard and or Blancmange.
And as a vegetarian any meat.

I know I shouldn’t bite but…unless this thread’s morphed into “food I don’t eat”, what? Surely you get why people eat meat?

  • Whoever said tripe that's something that never needs to be in a human mouth. You can taste the actual shit still.

The used to eat tripe as a treat and her breath would stink for days but she loved it, that said she also used to eat fox shit.

I tried fermented shark in Iceland, I knew it was going to be nasty, I cant describe how rancid that was, go into a high end Icelandic restaurant though and it will be there on the menu
  • if charlton life became china life i wonder what food stuff they couldn't stand? When i saw that Karl Pilkington show and the camera panned across to his coach driver scoffing down a chicken fetus still in its shell and some passer by chomping on a bit of scorpion head i thought they're one lot who couldn't possibly have any hang ups on what food stuff they intake.
Never heard of the show but the "things" you just mentioned are definitely not food here. Nobody in their right mind would eat them.😅

Sushi - aka raw fish. Do I look like a Dolphin?  Stop saving money on gas and just cook the stuff.
Spinach - don't see the point. Tastes like slime and you actually use more calories eating it than you get from it.
    Artichokes - revolting.
I think those are two different foods? Sushi doesn't necessarily have raw fish in it? But anyway I totally agree. I was going to say Japanese food. Raw fish, raw beef, raw eggs, sushi... Isn't it animals that eat raw meat, raw fish?😅
  • The eggs with foetuses in them are a Vietnamese thing. Can't say I fancied it even though I eat chicken and eggs.

Duriam fruit has to be up there though
  • Shashimi is raw fish and it’s beautiful. You don’t need to cook it to enjoy its fresh flavour.

And you can't beat a good steak tartare with a raw egg yolk, capers, pepper and Worcestershire Sauce.

McBobbin…..pie&mash is a waste of time energy and money!
I neither like or dislike the taste………because there simply isn’t any!

bit of white pepper and chilli vinegar...

Does remind me of that "Goodness Gracious Me" sketch though where they went for "an English" and asked for the "blandest dish" Think they went with scampi but could have been pie and mash!

100% this, can't feckin stand them or any of the onion family. Discovered this in later life as I didn't mind them back in the day at the Valley in a boiled beef burger !!

  • People saying pie mash is bland, but it’s not when it’s smothered in salt, pepper and vinegar. Some times the condiments make the meal. Fish and chips is pretty bland, but cover it in salt and vinegar and a big dollop of tartare sauce and it is a food from the gods. Same as a decent salad needs a good dressing to make it special or a prawn cocktail needs to be covered in Marie Rose sauce. Hotdogs need mustard, a burger needs ketchup, a kebab needs chilli sauce. A ham sandwich is bland, but put some English mustard in it and bosh. Same with a cheese sandwich. Bland as anything, but add some chutney or pickle and it changes it totally. Same with pie mash. It’s all about the condiment 👍🏻

The analogies to your team are all there, bang average team. Stick Flemming in it and BOOM play off contenders

By definition then, all food is bland and needs condiments?
