  • @Airman Brown

Airman - Perhaps you can clear this up? As I understood it the club has a policy in place whereby it requests that CAFC fans do NOT purchase tickets for away fans (especially high profile games) in home seating areas - is this correct?

This is my current understanding and I have been told that ST holders have got into trouble for doing this previously.

I would fully support such a policy, I have zero tolerance for Millwall fans sitting in Charlton areas, they have a terrible reputation - and well deserved - and our fans should not have to be seated among these people at any time.

If you are a Charlton season-ticket holder - or even buying a General Admission ticket - you are paying to be segregated from the vermin in the Jimmy Seed Stand, that's the whole point of being in the Charlton end.

Even if the people you bring in are 'trustworthy' then this is not the whole point, the broader point being that those people could easily be spotted as Millwall fans and that could start trouble in itself.

    Many thanks for your clarification.
  • In the boxes

I see no real issue but as has been said before muzza nearly got a clump in the west stand

Who's to say that wernt from a corporate entertainer guest

in the east stand I do

There have been too many incidents of away fans in that end

They have definitely had problems with away fans in the boxes before, box-holders have been kicked out of boxes for ignoring instructions about bringing away fans in.

That certainly used to be the policy.
  • Because ormy it's easier to suggest to people that it's those who get the hump about away fans In the home end are those with the problem than accept that you are part of the problem in the first place

This is what winds me up mate, when I go to Charlton - Millwall I do NOT want to be sitting with the Scum. End of discussion. If I wanted to sit among the knuckle draggers I'd buy a ticket for their end.

To my mind Charlton supporters have the perfect right to sit among their own at these home games, they should not have Millwall fans anywhere near them.

All my family are Millwall and I would NEVER want to sit and watch a Charlton-Millwall game alongside them, it would end up in a massive row because they can't help themselves with their snidey digs.
  • I don't get it either I really don't but because someone pays thousands instead of hundreds they have more rights is what I think is being said

That's how I read it too, I would be interested to see what Airman says on this.

Surprised at Len Glover, normally a stickler for following the rules is Len!

Although, of course, the way the club is being run at present nobody gives a f--k anyway.

Don't know about signs but it clearly states in my season ticket that it can only be transferable to charlton fans and goes on to say anyone transferring to an away fan can have tickets cancelled.
Sorry if this is mentioned elsewhere in the thread.

Where did I say because I pay thousands instead of hundreds I had more rights?

Ormiston: You really are a bitter person arn't you, not all away fans are "vermin, scum and knuckle draggers" as has been said on here already the away fans last Saturday respected the Knox/Mizzen tribute to a man, what did our fans do.........sing the incest song.

  • Just don't bring them again

  • I've been in the home ends at about seven or eight away games due to either not being able to get tickets or with friends from the home side.

    Lost every time :-(

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Let's be clear, you don't know me and never will so don't bother making judgements.

Like most other Charlton fans I loathe Millwall with an absolute passion, I cannot stand being near any of their "I'm well 'ard" neanderthal fuckwit fans, mainly because I have been direct witness to their despicable behavior over the last 25 years at Selhurst, Upton Park and The Valley whenever we have played them.

The club asks people not to give tickets to away fans for good reason - it is a clear threat to public order and people's safety - and yet people still do it.

Why do they do it? Because they think the rules only apply to other people and not them.

I don't give a toss if you have the cheapest or most expensive season ticket, you should not be bringing away fans - ESPECIALLY Millwall fans - into home areas when the club has asked you not to.

Go ask Mick Everitt (Ketman's Dad) about why these rules are in place, they are there because innocent people have been hurt in the past by fights caused by away fans in home areas.

If you are so keen to be with your Millwall mates why not get tickets in the Jimmy Seed Stand and sit with them in there?

We will have to agree to disagree Ormiston, I like to think I am a good judge when it comes to selecting my guests for matches, I know some very nasty Millwall fans none of which I would have invited however the client I picked and his son proved to be yet another good choice, in fact they behaved better then some of the "home" fans around us.

I shall continue to do what I have done for the last 3 years, and that is enjoying the company of clients and friends at a football match.

  • I have sat in home areas at various games over the years, but always respected where I was and never wore colours or celebrated. The only time it turned nasty for me was the famous Battle of Stamford Bridge when I did not cheer Chelsea's goal.On that occasion I was escorted into the away end although 3 of my mates stayed put.

I can understand @eaststandmike's point and he appreciates that if one of his clients misbehaved then he might lose his season ticket.Likewise there were many Addicks who post on here that admitted being in home areas at the Toolbox.

I think what is different are the Spanners who wore their scarves and hats and celebrated when they scored, this is because of the arrogance that their fans have.I agree Charlton should have done more about this group.

  • I saw this incident in the stands;

The Millwall Gentleman (ahem) had brought his family with him, two children and partner. He sat in the corporate seats with four/five others. When Millwall scored he (and he alone) not only stood up to cheer but stayed standing and making sure everyone around him knew who or what he was.

An argument then ensued which made it apparent that four/five others also supported Millwall. The stewards got some numbers together and then asked them to leave. People that use these seats are warned prior to kick off that they are not allowed to do this (stand up and cheer away clubs) because it is a "home" area. The bloke that caused it all seemed unrepentant as he left, however his kids were in bits as they were roundly abused as they made their way to the exit. All of them retreated to the lounge/bar.

Corporate seats are not segregated as other seats are and they never have they been. There is a communication issue here, fans surrounding this area are not told about the situation and are often hostile to supporters of other clubs who pay a lot of money to sit there, with the full knowledge of our club.

The Millwall bloke got what was coming to him but sadly so did his children who like I say were in tears. Having paid us hundreds of pounds to see the match from those seats and use the bar facilities he was entitled to the later if he behaved and seemingly he did once he left the stand.

It's no biggy really it has been that way since the west upper was built, it's just that this time it was a Millwall supporter not Chelsea or Man City. The Charlton supporters that complained may not have been aware of the situation and therefore been a tad over the top about it (I speculate). I cant see our board taking this issue very seriously TBH, it has happened many times before.
  • I can assure you I am not being obtuse Prague I just do not think it is clear. If I am breaking a law by taking clients into home areas who support the away team I would like it clarified, I always warn my clients not to react if their team go close or score and they abide by this.

I have just looked on multimap using the street level veiw and I cannot see any signs on the turnstiles I use saying 'home fans only', and to be honest if it did say that I would assume it was for the benifit of away fans who did not know where they were going, not warning me I am breaking the law if I take one in with me.

Where I sit in the East stand most of those around me are season ticket holders, they know what I do and there is never a problem, in fact we all have a bit of banter which is what going to football is all about isn't it?.

And that's not being obtuse ?
  • Interesting that when I went Palace away this season I sat in their boxes and the box next to me had a few Charlton fans in it. One bloke was singing Charlton songs at the top of his voice, slagging off Palace and even put his Charlton scarf on the railings... he didn't even get spoken to once, despite some complaints and lasted the 90 minutes.

Make of that what you will!

I'm thinking well done that man for winding up the spotty nigels!!

Double standards from me I'm afraid :)

I know the three people that complained to stewards about 'wall being in block A of the East. Why did they complain - because in the last home game against our friendly neighbours (the 4-4 draw) 'Wall were also sitting in this area (about double that were there this time) and when we scored 2 of them came over to block C looking for a row. Unfortunately they picked on my Daughter so I had to get involved with the result that the 2 walked away making threats for after the game. The complaints to stewards were aimed at stopping a similar potential flare up (if only we could score!)

    fair enough then

you seem like a decent bloke and im sure your guests are, no nes worried about you causing trouble but the rule is either segregation or not, and segregation it is because you cant have a rule apply on the basis of how nice a person you are!
  • @eaststandmike

You carry on what you're doing pal. Some people are getting too precious. Its all about using your judgement. If you've friends / clients who you know full well will sit on their hands if they score, then what is the issue ? There isn't one.

Some people make the mistake of thinking everyone is like them.
  • yeah cos everyone at charlton has perfect judgement...
  • There are areas of the ground where non segregation is permitted for business purposes etc., you could always use those, that way everybody would aware of the situation and act accordingly. Just a thought!

That's what I was trying to say when I talked about hospitality and that was my understanding of what Mike was doing.

Thanks AFKA, I certainly will carry on, it will be a sad day when I cannot go to football with friends, family or clients no matter who they support.

I am going to stay clear of the North Stand toilets though as I have heard there is an arse grabbing perve doing the rounds ;-)
