Made Solly play bad? Have a laugh Solly would have played the exact same had he played behind Green, Wilson or Jesus bloody Navas! He had a poor game, as did everyone else. Green was pretty poor today but wasn't as bad as Kermorgant, Gower or Sordell. He had the initiative to actually have a shot at the injured keeper forcing him into a decent save, unlike the rest of the midfield playing hospital passes 10 yards from their own box.
He isn't Beckham, he can be frustrating but he tries and that's more than can be said about some of our players
Did what he always does when given his chance; Doesn't take it. Four good, no pressure crossing opportunities (not corners) in the first 20 minutes and they were all poor. His only attribute he can bring to a team is crossing, and when he get's it right they're quality. But he can't do it anywhere near often enough (if at all!). For me his negatives far outweigh his positives. Someone who may provide 1 quality cross every few games is a luxury we aren't good enough to accommodate.
Maybe we just aren't good enough to accommodate him and he's suffering because of it. That's being a bit generous though I feel.
I think Green was probably preferred to Waggy as he is seen as more of an impact player, and a different option, with Wilson and Pritch both able to provide running and defensive cover from the start of the game. The fact Wilson didn't start today I think indicates how far he's fallen in Powell's estimation, and I doubt it would have been easy to move him out (who'd want him?) and replace him with a player that can play both right back and right mid. I thought he did ok in the first half of last season, but didn't look like he was really trying as the season went on. I think this could be a problem position for us, even Pritch who would be my (and was Powell's) first choice I think is better suited to playing through the middle. Likewise on the left we lack real competition for Harriott and are relying on Cook coming good, which surely if Powell had funds wouldn't have been the case. If we could get Stephens out, and replace him with a left-footed player with more energy and intensity like Pritch, who could play from wide or in the middle that could go some way in balancing the squad a bit more.
Green is a match winner, there not much he or Harriott can do if they don't get the ball played into the right space.First half today they were ignored and never got a sniff, once Stephens come on things changed and Green and Harriott got some decent balls in.....Jackson is finished at this level and Gower is not a box to box player.
Not true. As I eluded to in my previous post, in the first 20 minutes Green had 3 good crossing opportunities on the wing near the box with little pressure, and 1 free kick near to the box, all on his natural Right side and he failed to deliver a decent cross every time.
I would really like to see Green given a run of games.. I think he is the type of player who needs this to produce his best. It must be difficult to be thrown in one game at a time and expected to deliver straight away. We really need to persist with him...
He is playing 2-3 leagues above his ability so I'm bored of giving him stick, if he is getting picked good luck to him but he has been utter chuff for us since day one.
The tug on the shirt near the half way line summed up his lack of any football brain or defensive ability or pace and his corner/goal kick and fluffed chance showed the lack of any attacking quality.

Obviously not at today's game. I would have agreed last season but today he Just looked completely out of his depth. It was embarrassing.
Don't think we will see him in a Charlton shirt again. At least not for league games.
This was his big chance to make that right hand spot his and his alone, and he completely f****d it right up. No defensive nous, and anyone decrying Pritchard's (so-called) lack of crossing ability... well on today and too many other day's evidence, Green makes him look positively Beckhamesque.
It's significant that people were praising his performance on Tueday, against a League Two team, but today when he comes up against a proven Champ side, he is almost universally slated.
Sometimes a player can find himself at a club, playing at a level where everything clicks into place. That happened for Green at Daggers. Thought he was okay in L1 (Waggy was my preference though). I kept hoping he'd take the bull by the horns if given another crack, but showed today he's simply not up to championship standard.
Do you think he could possibly have been kept in preference over Waggy?. Was it that he had one year left, and nobody came in for him and we could not afford both?. Because I know who I would have kept, and it would not have been Green.

Think that's exactly why he's still here & Waggy's gone
When Green is in the last quarter of the oppositions half, jinks a defender and whips a ball in first time in an attack they can be brilliant. Where was that today? Where was any other positive today?
Like others have said, today was his day to show how valuable he is to our campaign, to show his set pieces and crosses will get us goals even if his defensive duties aren't so great. He demonstrated little or nothing for Powell to think that Pritch won't be getting back in the team straight away. I obviously want every Charlton player to succeed and drive us onwards but watching Green today was painful at times.
Sad but Danny is playing above his level. Hasn't got the time or first touch afforded in league one to look anything other than out of his depth. No disgrace in that but he needs to be moved on and I wish him well.

Bit depressing thought he may have turned a corner and been ready for the season.
It's frustrating maybe we could get a good price for him depending on his contract.
It would be fair to say that Chris is not happy with Green playing in front of him, as he spent the majority of today covering his gaffes.
Awful today.
I think a lot of the time Green tries hard he just isn't quite up to it.

Great league 1 player.

Stealing a wage in this division

Nice house though......................

Green is a clown who is just not funny.
