  • How can Pritchard lack the delivery side of the game when he was our highest assister last season and joint fourth highest in the entire league?!
  • When people say that Pritch lacks delivery my mind always casts back to Blackburn away
  • I really like Green despite how frustrating he can be at times. Also agree that he has the potential to be an important player for us if he develops some consistency to his game.

Feel for ages we've lacked two good pacey wingers who can scare defenders and actually have some end product. We've got one for the left with Harriott but without one on the right it for me seems the side is kind of unbalanced, and Green could restore the balance. That being said, I don't want to see Pritch gone as he's my favourite player and his energy on the pitch is unmatched. Maybe Powell could try a 4-5-1 with the two wingers pushing on to make it more a 4-3-3 and Hughes sitting behind Jackson and Pritch in the centre. Kermo as a lone striker & tell him to flick to either the right or left rather than straight down the middle.
  • I would start Green every game.
  • I think Green has the potential to make us a much better side. Technically, there is a lot about him that impresses me more than Pritchard whose hard work attempts to cover up a lack of ability in some areas imo (and regardless, I would rather him in the middle than on the right). If Green is fitter and can work on his defensive side by getting up and down the wing - I think we would be stronger with him and Callum helping feed Kermorgant and a player to be named later.

    Agree with this.

So do I. Criminally underused IMHO

  • It's up to him now. If he steps up to the plate then who knows but at present Pritchard is a better option.
  • IMHO it is bollox to say Green deserves his chance ahead of Pritchard at this stage.
Unless you don't actually go to the games.

I think Powell probably thought the likes of Green would have been long gone at this stage of the 'journey'.
  • With gower in the side/squad , it highlights the need for players who are willing to just 'run' as try and get onto any pass - we have this with Harriott and I think that either Pritchard (linked well with gower vs Bristol city ) or green can easily do that

Definitely, SHG but as others have stated, I'm happy to keep DG as a squad player who is keen to show what he can do when given the opportunity & who's willing to work hard to give the gaffer the "right" kind of headaches..

  • I think Powell felt let down by Green in our L1 season and felt less willing to play him in the Champ. Green is a confidence player and being thrown in when the chips are down and then dropped if he doesn't take the game by the scruff of the neck does him no favours. To get the most out of Green I think he needs to be left in the side for a decent run of games and feel important to the side and we could see more from him. I got the feeling he was a bit cowed by the move to The Valley (even though we're not that massive big) but if he isn't over that by now then he never will be. I'd love to see him playing with his head up and hammering the ball onto Yann every game. I really feel like we could get so much more from him but it's difficult to wring it out of the bloke
  • I still seriously rate this guy.
If he was left footed then i reckon he would have had a much bigger impact last season.
Harriot has the pace and the ability to take people on, but he doesn't have the final ball or shooting range that Green does.

  • Also not too keen on his kettle

Refreshing to see someone who wants to be at the club and is willing to work hard to stay there.. Hopefully we can see the best of Green this year as I think we are a better team with him in it..

Major respect to him after watching that. The guy has a very good attitude; I'd actually expected him to have thrown his toys out of the pram by now - I'm pleasantly surprised to see I misjudged him.

I'd like him to have an impact this season. I think he can give us some nice attacking play and deliver some dangerous balls.

  • Really like green as a footballer but I think sometimes its between his ears that the problem lies.

See there's a lot of banter flying around on these pre season vids about greens weight - wonder if he let himself go a little in pre season or just generally has more body fat than the other players?

Rate Green. Great crosser of the ball and shows so much class that is overlooked.. Rather have Pritchard on the right if im honest tho.. and im probably DG biggest fan. Would move Pritch inside with Jacko at home and play Green on the right. Away play with Pritch on the right.
  • I had a long chat with him on Saturday and he said he was working hard to fit in with the whatever style of play CP wants from him.

Believe me, he wants to do well for us.
  • Didn't Pritch top the assist list last season?
  • I have to admit that I did not know that Pritch was our top assister last season.

  • The problem with Green is that he doesn't deliver enough on the pitch. From his reputation, I was expecting someone to send in a series of dangerous crosses throughout the game, and they simply didn't happen enough.
Pritch is a different type of player, but in addition to providing more defensive cover, also creates more goals
  • Green's contribution towards the end of the season earned us quite a few points. Ask Jon Obika what he thinks of Green's crossing.
  • It's not about his crossing though. It's the rest of his game.
  • Absolutely no reason why he can't be kept as back up and told to try to earn himself a place in the team. He's out player and everyone needs a squad.
  • Would love to see green play behind Yann... That where he would be at his best i believe, he is made for that free role!

I would guess that Yann sees himself as the deep lying striker playing behind 'A.N. Other' so not so sure he would get a look in for that position, unless he was used as cover of course.

Or lack thereof. He's not particularly fast, doesn't seem to have much desire/ability to help defend, and more of his tackles than not are clumsy at best... No doubt he can cross in a good ball, but so can Pritchard as the stats will show, and Bradley has more to his game in general it seems to me. I want Green to push on and improve and become the lethal winger he has the potential to be, but he is a substitute for a reason to judge by his performances last season. I hope this is not the case six months later!

  • You usually have to earn the right in a team before the manager just throws you into a free role! A far reality from message board wishes.
  • Green is a great impact player to bring off the bench - just not sure that will be enough for him...
  • He has to decide whether he wants to work on the rest of his game or work on selling 'Ballers Clothing'
