Stalking me I didn't even see ya lol. I was trying to get my little one to say it, but he went all shy.
Don't get me wrong though I think Green has been a disappointment but I just wanna see him have a run of games before we can all confirm his not good enough, not just the odd game here or there.

Know what you mean Nick, I have been one of his staunch supporters. I really think there is a good player in there, but he just doesn't step up to the plate when the opportunity arises. Perhaps L1 is his level after all.
Jeez folks. Waggy doesn't play for us any more. Please stop bringing him up. I've always defended Green and want him to be a fixture in the team. He is a confidence player and has not been handled well IMHO since he came here. However, my own patience is gradually being eroded. I thought he flattered to deceive on Tuesday and, like everyone else except DD was abject yesterday. Problem is, I don't see an alternative within the ranks. The Pritchard debate has been done elsewhere. Wilson has lost all confidence and that's about it. Would it be madness to put Wilson at right back and try Solly on the wing? (Probably but just putting the thought out there). Alternatively give Danny a run of five games without getting on his back and se what he turns into. Won't happen though.
The problem with Green's style of play is that if his crosses/set pieces aren't coming off for him, he's got absolutely nothing else to offer. Pritchard and Wilson (to a lesser degree perhaps), they won't stop running and scrapping even if the going is tough, they also have a willingness to help out in defence and back up Solly. Green looks to me like he is just on the pitch to take the odd dead ball the majority of the time. His main contribution to defence is suspect tackles and needless free kicks, his tricks going forward may beat a defender, his lack of pace lets them win it back.
It frustrates me to have to say it, as I want to get behind each and every Addick and see the best of every player... but I just can't justify his place in the team at this level. The winning streak we went on last season, Green was nowhere near the starting 11.
Waggy was out of contract. He wasn't 1st choice for CP so decided to release him. Green is still under contract so we can't tell him cheerio. If we had a cash offer he'd be off. He may still go and may still leave on loan. I'm disappointed because I expected more, believe he can offer us more but it hasn't happened and yesterday he didn't really do himself any favours BUT did have two shots saved by the keeper which was more than the rest of the team put together so I don't understand some of the vitriol aimed in his direction.
Rory Green @greenrory 23h Unless you have a family member that actually is in football you understand much less than you think about the "beautiful game"
Rory Green @greenrory 23h That's the beauty about football. For fans it's drama, entertainment and something to watch. For the players and families it's real life.
Rory Green @greenrory 23h When the day comes I am going to be so frank and honest about football that it'll make those who only see 90mins a week realise.
Rory Green @greenrory 10 Aug And what's even more laughable is the players that weren't even the worst on the pitch are the scape goats.

He makes quite a fair point. A shame it's mixed in with a whiney attempt at dining off of the whole "MY BROTHER IS A FOOTBALLER. I'M LIKE.. THE FAMILY OF A FOOTBALLER. THIS IS REAL LIFE" bullsh!t.
Think Sols links better with Wilson then Greeny. Greeny is a hard tryer but has struggled a bit at the higher level. Doesn't mean he is stealing a wage.
I feel that wilson is a bit unspectacular but has a decent enough partnership with Solly. Solly isn't going to run forward and attack when Green cannot be trusted to cover. George Friend tore Green to shreds yesterday.
So Start Wilson and if we need a spark then bring Green on as a sub.
another thing... I do like it when Green sends in crosses early but more often than not they're crap balls.
George Friend is one of the better full backs he will have to face this season.
Not the best or worst player on Saturday you just have to accept that defending is not his strong suit. Good ball striker but frankly I don't think he's good enough for this level.
I think Green showed us what sort of footballer he can be last season at the Valley when he came on against Wolves and helped change the game for us.
In my mind he has two more games left to try and grasp that first team spot as his own. Hopefully that will be motivation enough for him to out in a couple of performances we know he has in him somewhere.
Pleaseeeeeee! Green was bad but come on he did have our only two shots on target, if they had gone in we would all singing his praises. The whole team were bad, Kermorgant looked liked he played in a pub league.
2 shots on target yes, but the first should have been a goal. He pissed about with the ball when it was easier to hit it first time! The long range shot was decent, but should have take a few more steps forward. 2 shots yes, but still POOR
Not sure if I'd totally blame him for the first miss (not seen the highlights, so only going from recollection of saturday). Thought the ball came through 3-4 players, including one of ours, who missed it. Green looked like he didn't expect it to get to him and his reaction was a bit late. Not really an excuse as such, but shit happens. As for his blistering shot, we've seen him hit a few of these over the last 2 years, but how many have been successful? not many (if any). They always seem to be straight at the GK at a nice height and the best we can hope for is for him to parry it to another one of our players.
As for him being a confidence player, being paid a decent wage playing for a championship club (not forgetting the "unfinished business" tag) should be enough to give him the motivation & confidence to go out there and prove his worth to the team. I never have (and never will) boo a charlton player whilst on the pitch, but was saying he had to come off a good 15 mins before he did.
And if he's a confidence player, I'm a confidence fan............................and I've lost it as far as he's concerned.
I haven't read this whole thread in detail since Saturday's game but I don't see why Green has been having lots of stick when the whole team had an awful game. Even our most consistent players in Solly and Wiggins didn't have good games so I don't think it is wise to using a specific player as a scapegoat.
Bad day in the office, every team has a rough patch in their season, let's hope we're getting ours out the way first thing.
The difference between the likes of Green and the likes of Yann or Wiggins, is that while the latter were poor on Saturday, they have more than proved their worth on other occasions, whereas even in L1, Green's contributions to our promotion were fairly insignificant. His raison d'etre is being able to put decent crosses and dead balls in, and he doesn't do it anywhere near enough to make up for the weaknesses in his game elsewhere.
No point judging Green on the last 2 seasons as he is here and a Charlton player regardless. Let's judge him on this season. OK, didn't play well on Saturday but was not the worst player in my opinion.
Let's make a judgement after 10 games in the side. I'm sure Danny knows more than anyone that this season he has to impress. This thread will be brought up again at the end of the season and hopefully lots of you will be red faced with your above comments.
Had his shot not been brilliantly blocked by Steel from close range, then the last two pages of this thread probably wouldn't even be here.
Was unlucky with his shot from outside the area too that the keeper saved. Didn't see many other players having a go from that distance when they could have done.
I've always come on here and backed Green. Following saturday, both his performance and his brothers perfomance, I have little time for him now. Can't get how rory the boy is giving it large about knowing about the beautiful game, perhaps he should take a look at our clubs history over the last 20 years? enough ups and downs to give us an insight to the game, thanks.
Sat in the west stand and watched danny closely on saturday, his first touch is terrible, he SHOULD of buried our only chance, and was more willing to put Solly under a lot of pressure by passing the ball back to him than making a decent give and go, or even taking on a man.
Pritchard is the better option at RM even if he is a CM.

Second attempt was a good effort from long range but was comfortablely saved by a two hand punch.
