  • If Powell had been giving funds to strengthen then Danny Green would not be here. Sadly with the situation at the club he's got to make do with what he's got. Is that the managers fault?

Well it ain't my fault. Better players than Green around for sure.

Did Powell not sign him in the first place?
  • ... more interested in selling t-shirts. About it really.

That's quite an assumption. You could argue that he's using his spare time, which footballers have a lot of, to start a business and prepare for life after football, quite sensible really. Seems preferable than going to the bookies everyday. No evidence to suggest it impacts his focus on football. Whether he's good enough for the Championship is another matter. I don't feel like he's been given much of a run in the Championship yet, much like BWP and Wagstaff weren't. However CP sees them day in day out. I find it interesting that others are given time to settle in, Stephens, Pritchard and Harriot and we know who took their chance and who didn't.
  • The difference between the likes of Green and the likes of Yann or Wiggins, is that while the latter were poor on Saturday, they have more than proved their worth on other occasions, whereas even in L1, Green's contributions to our promotion were fairly insignificant. His raison d'etre is being able to put decent crosses and dead balls in, and he doesn't do it anywhere near enough to make up for the weaknesses in his game elsewhere.

    That's it in a nutshell

Wilson and Pritchard make more of less talent but none of em add up to a decent 2nd division winger. I always prefer I tryer over a ponse

    So he's a t- shirt selling ponce?

  • Taken from Twitter, quite amusing!

  • I heard that Greene didn't train at all last week but was still picked to start for the first time in ages yesterday. I think he should play more but why start him yesterday?
  • anyone following Green on Instagram, he posted a funny video this morning of Jackson walking into the dressing room and the new bloke sitting in his space (presume it's the fella from SL)
  • what is his instagram name?

Like the theory of Danny, that he can get a cross in occasionally (and thus supportive of him) but agree that we need better.

However, tonight he did okay apart ftom that free kick. So, as to not to spoil the players marks thread I'd like to say most of you are having a f*****g laugh marking him the same or bèlow Harriott.
  • Are you serious? He wasn't quite as bad as Harriott, but he wasn't far off it. Shocking!
  • thought he was ok
  • Anything we did in attack in the first half went through him. Ok, for everything good he did he did something daft too but i thought he was fine tonight and got stuck in. I agree that 90% if our support Would give gun poor marks even if he scored a hat trick.

The free kick was a shocker though!
  • Got stuck in and tried his best.
  • agree he tried his best but unfortunatly has no pace to trouble the fullback , he has a great cross on him but hardly ever beats the defender to put it to use in dangerous areas Harriott was shocking though. Green, Harriott and Church are a bit powder puff, not the players we need as we fight relegation.
  • Harriot was injured for a while before he got taken off.
  • Green was awful last night. In what coaching manual does it say that to be a good right winger one should be behind the bloody ball at all times? One decent cross all night and we can only pray that Riga has now seen enough of him and will realise that he simply is not good enough.

  • I've been amazed that he keeps getting chances, but i did feel he put in a decent shift last night
  • Harriot was injured for a while before he got taken off.

Yes, had ice packs on both legs at the end and I saw him hobbling off through the car park after the game.

I thought Green had one of his better games last night.
  • I really wanted Green to work out for us. However, he is just not good enough.

He is league one at best.
  • Green was poor yesterday, but would give him a run in the team rather then playing someone out of position.

Agree with this. Not good enough
  • Thought he did ok last night
  • he put in a decent shift last night and really got stuck in - I think he's definitely one of our players more effected by the state of the pitch.

agree he's probably not quite championship standard, but prefer him wide right rather than trying to shoe horn a centre midfielder out there.
  • Did well 1st half. Faded badly in 2nd, in part due to us going 442 and him having to do some defensive work.
  • He provides balance to the team as we have no other RM - apart from Wilson - but he isn't god enough for this level. He makes too many bad decisions.
  • Finally some opinion that actually calls it as people see it rather than slate a player. Danny Green gives us something alternative with his delivery but the difference is that when it doesn't go right he is slated by many on this forum (unjustly). Typically when JJ's deliveries from corners was criticised last week he didnt get the abuse from many on this forum (and rightly so). We should be supporting our players and whilst it is ok to have an opinion that he is not talented enough for this level people shouldn't slate or judge him on one thing (free kick) last night. Danny certainly put in a good shift last night so the marks given by some is not balanced but just to have a dig at him which is counter productive. For the record I don't see as stated previously what the fuss is about Jordan Cousins and in the first half last night he was not getting involved or shutting down the opposition but in the second half he was very good (you could see Riga telling him to get tighter) but although I have that opinion of Jordan I'm happy to be proved wrong and wouldn't slate him as many others do of DG.
