Thanks for that Oggy, couldn't see who cleared it from where I was sitting. Taylor was excellent today, as were they all. That would be my starting line up for Ewood Park.
Excellent performances throughout the team. Can't believe some criticisms of Stephens - I've had my doubts about him, but he was great today. Have to say that Wilson is winning me round. Early season wasn't impressed, definitely think midfield is his position - great cross for the second.
Should it have been red or did they have another man behind the ball ?
No question about a pen or a sending off. There were other players covering, and it was outside the area, but it was a definite trip and should have been a tasty free kick opportunity.
Strange game thought we were in for a hammering in 1st half and could not see how wehad a 2 goal lead at halftime. But Blackpool flattered to deceive and the 2nd half was ours easily. How is ince worth £1 million let alone the
We won because of me! Yep that's right. I found an old ladies purse on the way out of the oak and chased her down to pass it back. She said that will bring you luck today you will win. So simples
Just a comment about their goal. That was the third time I can remember where an opposing player has picked up a headed clearance on the edge of the box and scored. Huddersfield and Sheff Wed being the other two I think. Need a midfielder there to stop this from regularly happening.
Late posting after babysitting straight after the match but wanted to say PLEASE can we keep this starting line up , SCP !
I know zilch about the formations we should/shouldn't use against certain opposition's but I do know that packing the midfield with terrier like players, snapping at the heels in the manner that JJ ( Captain Fantastic) , Pritch & Stephens ( must stay !) did today works for me ...and for the team .
Great to see Yann nearly back to his Beastie Best, a decent return for the prodigal ( or is that Henry's? ) son and a strong back four - impossible to nominate a MOM although thought JJ was at his very best.
This was a similar performance to those against Cardiff & Watford - full of determination, hard work and great team spirit , and as a result , GOALS.
Can't wait for the long trip to Blackburn ( but still refuse to predict a win...)
As usual, I had to make do with setting an early alarm and listening to the commentary over breakfast.
From the radio commentary it never sounded like we under too much pressure.
The way our season is at the moment we could poetically pick this same side next week and lose, were just inconsistent at the moment.
We're not going to match the top sides for quality, but no one in this division can name a harder working midfield four than Wilson, Pritchard, Jackson and Wagstaff. It sounds like their commitment rubbed off on Stephens and perhaps having them buzzing around helped him to find the time to get his head up and find his passing range. When I've seen Stephens play he's frustrated the living daylights out of me, but it seems pretty clear that we play well when he plays well.
I've just seen the goals on the FL Show and that was done lovely play by Yann to turn the ball round the corner to Wilson before arriving late on the box to meet Wilson's cross. Simple but attractive and effective football. Wilson seems to be becoming a very important player for us who brings more than just work rate.
Pleasing to see Waggy get on the score sheet too. Keep up the good work Scott and prove doubters like me wrong.
Hopefully we can now pick an unchanged team for a few games, although it sounded like JJ was struggling with his hamstring towards the end.
Yann was my MOTM, a quality performance up front, Wagstaff showed he deserves a chance, the whole team played as a team, a slight lack of quality at times, but 100% commitment and desire, which will go a long way in this league - ensuring survival for a start.
What we really lacked was a replacement midfielder on the bench, to shore things up in the second half. Never mind bringing in better midfielders, we are actually DOWN on what we had last season, when we had Hollands and Russell, plus the currently injured Andy Hughes.
Important result and so good for the moral of Waggy to get a start and goal Lack of quality made up for by complete committment will see us through to safety which is our main priority this season and SCP is the man to guide us there , even if it isn't as "exciting" as some would like ..... We've been here before when the sum of the parts make for better results but it won't be able to satisfy those looking for Brazil1970 every week!
0% Top two ..... 5% top 6 .... 35% 7th-12th .... 60% 13th-21st 0% relegation Last time I put 0% relegation we didn't win for 6 games , sorry !

Was a good game and Blackpool were very average in my opinion. Yann was my MOTM ran his socks of all game and was please to see Harriott looks like he actually wants to run at players which is good! All in all good 3 points

Last season that midfielder was either Danny Hollands or Andy Hughes. Both were superb at protecting the edge of our box.
Had a feeling we would win which disappeared seconds after i saw we were playing one up front ! CP has gone back to basics which has produced two wins. MoTM Yann Glad to see Waggy given a go. Harriet`s little shimmy nano seconds after coming on was right in front of us and worth the £20 just to see.
Their manager said they played pretty football with no end product which is 100% other than the goal in injury time Hammer didnt really have a save to make.
We are a mid table side and i have no complaints about that at all.
The round of applause for Philips was a tad lovey dovey for me but it was appreciated by him as he clearly herd it and i totally agree with another poster on here who said we should have had a punt on him 6/7 seasons ago.
Well I have to hold my hands up today, when the team was announced I could not see how we could score and for the first 15 mins I new I was right. What happened after that was staggering to me, I could not believe how organised the whole team became(something Curbs would have been proud of). The tenacity they showed in winning the ball was amazing and after a little time we actually started passing it around well. If we can keep the same team and play as we did today, Who knows what could lay in store. Well done the whole team etc.
Should it have been red or did they have another man behind the ball ?
Lots of people, even the OS, seem hazy on this ...... the referee's interpretation has to be, "Has the player unfairly been denied a clear goalscoring opportunity?"
Taking dangerous play or violent conduct out of the equation, it's not even about last defender. Against Huddersfield in the Cup, Dervitte was shown red - he wasn't actually the last defender (the goalkeeper is a defender, remember?).
Evidently the referee decided Dervitte had unfairly prevented a clear goalscoring opportunity. Which in his opinion, was the correct decision.
nothing to do with the selection, although I like having goal scorers on the pitch, waggy, jacko, Kerm, its a tricky concept to grasp I know by they tend to score, which helps you win..
but the real reason is young Master Razil, who has only ever seen us win (3rd time now)
got the season dvd for my bday and watched BWP bang in so, so many goals again, surely he can be fixed?
A proper left back in the left back position. Solly was excellent against a dangerous looking Delfouneso, Evina marshelled Ince. Wagstaff and Wilson provided strong cover and back up, and helped protect the centre backs alongside Stephens, who was also encouraged to put his foot in for once with Jackson. Jackson played well and the more central role suits him. Mat Taylor looked like he had never been away. Morrisson was steady. The tireless running of Pritchard, Wilson and Wagstaff balanced the footballing skills of Jackson and Stephens who were able to play a bit of football.
If Wagstaff was able to maintain that level of performance, energy and play, he would keep himself in the team, (like Bradley Pritchard). Like Bradley Pritchard he may not be the most technically proffecient, but his enthusiasm and energy, can make up for that.
Not sure if KMG is the best lead in a 451 but after 20 to 25 minutes or so, when we started to play it on the floor, KMG improved in the position.
Charlton were able to hold fast against Blackpool's better passing in the first 15 mins. The team kept their shape and as soon as Charlton started to close down in midfield, Blackpool were knocked out of their stride and Charlton were able to create a few chances. Blackpool created little definitive until the end, when the strange substitution of Stephens for Fuller left the midfield understaffed. This created some space for Ecclestone to finish well. A nice round of applause for Ecclestone and Kevin Phillips who is still in excellent shape.
Harriot coming on to run at tired defence was good to see. Reminds me what a left winger looks like.
A great performance built on team spirit, hard work and non stop running. We may not have the best players in the division, apart from maybe Solly but if we can play like that every week, we will consolidate, stay up and prosper.
A win on a Saturday as well ! That will set me up for the tough working week ahead.
Good strong performance bar the first 15 mins when we watched them pass it around us. Difficult to pick out individuals as everyone played their part, but I'm very happy with the Solly/Wilson axis down the right. Wagstaff was a surprise selection but did himself proud and never stopped running. Stephens is not everyone's cup of tea, but IMO we would miss his influence if he moved on. Great team spirit and that as much as anything got us the result against a Blackpool team with some seriously talented individuals. Onwards and upwards.
Interesting that Wilson was the only "new" player playing today from our League 1 squad last year. After a dodgy 20minute start we pretty much bossed it and it was an enjoyable game. Congrats to the team and manager. Spot on. Shout ot to Taylor who put his body on the line for us as he always does when he plays.
A rare visit to the Valley yesterday. Thought we controlled the game after the first 20 minutes with hard work and team spirit and it was great to watch. So good to see us win at home but was it cold!!! JJ's shot seemed to take an age to cross the line and Waggy's goal came bag on half time to the relief and great comfort of us all. Not much anyone could have done about their goal which was taken well by Ecclestone. My only disappointment was the predictable long kicks by Harmer to Kerm (or anyone up front). What a complete waste which gave possession away time after time. Their keeper by comparison played the ball out to his defence all afternoon which kept them in possession for long periods. If Harmer did more of this not only could we play more good football on the floor but our midfield would be more involved and perhaps be more influential. Apart from that moan I really enjoyed watching the team "take charge" at last on their home turf. The long walk back to the car was soon forgotten when the heater worked its magic on my feet . Well done lads, a great result and a mouth watering three points!
The work rate was definitely there - especially Pritchard... I made a point of watching midfield closely and it was Stephens playing 20 yd passes time and time again especially out left which spread the play. Every pass sideways but accurate... imagine if there was the movement for him to play 25 yd passes diagonally forwards? We gave the ball away way too cheaply at times and had to wait a while to get it back... although possession was 50:50 I reckon a fair bit of Blackpool's possession was between their back 5 with us chasing it. I was hoping that Fuller might come on earlier and wondering which of the centre 3 should make way for him - as I really thought giving him more time would lead to a third and give confidence for future games. Great to see youth coming through and that this was the League 1 champions team... I can see us gently climbing the table and then really giving it a go next season. We are still missing a couple and yet these guys are good enough to get us mid table and just a few points away from the play-offs... the top 5 seem a long way off, as are the bottom 3, but a few wins this month and who knows what the gap might be to 6th place?!
