A very disciplined and hardworking performance and we certainly deserved the win. Powelly set us up very well to deal with Blackpool's fluid style, with Ince given a floating role. We pressed them well and kept our shape throughout, as well as creating more than them in the second half.
An all round team effort but I thought Evina, Jackson and Kermogant did particularly well, as did Waggy on his return to the fold. I also enjoyed Harriot's cameo and hopefully he and one or two of the other boys will get a little taste of first team action as we move towards and surpass the 50 point barrier ( I see the Youth team beat Ipwich 6-2 today; next up Chelsea ).
Great performance from pretty much the whole team, with the unfortunate exception of Stephens (again). Great result.
I thought Stephens had a very good game
Me too. He gave the ball away on occasion but, to his credit, always worked his nuts off to get it back. Good pressing when not in possession and generally made the team tick. Agree with Henry that Evina and Kerms played well too. No bad performances today. ...actually thought solly had a fairly average game for a change.
We scored against the run of play and what a bloody good job too. Up to that point we were looking 2nd best and I feared we'd lose at home again.
I thought the team all played well. Waggy's peformance will give CP something to think about and if anyone from Villa was watching Stephens may yet get his move.
Team worked very hard and worked their socks off. We might lack quality but you can't fault the work rate. Taylor and Wagstaff didn't let us down. Hamer a little indecisive on a couple of crosses. 3 points nearer safety! Surprised to see 3 kids on the bench.
First ten minutes I was a little worried. Then there was the injury break which seemed to give us the opportunity to regroup and settle.
Blackpool had one tactic early on which was to hit Delfuenso. Unfortunately seems they underestimated Solly and that meant they needed a plan B, which they didn't have.
The midfield and Yann worked their socks off. The 5 in midfield seemed very fluid and took turns in supporting Yann. We rendered them fairly impotent.
Was lovely to go in two goals to the good. Second half was fairly mundane and we looked comfortable.
Difficult to pick one stand out player. Does seem that Stephens has added some nastiness and steel to his game. Morrison and Taylor were very comfortable.
Blackpool fans seemed pretty downcast all game. Could hardly muster any atmosphere. I think they are one of the worst if not the worst side I've seen at the Valley this season.
SCP set us up really well today, pressed them high up the pitch and played to our strengths, not always pretty but our most comfortable home win of the season, reducing Blackpool to mostly long range efforts, we deserved a clean sheet. Played well as a team but JJ and Yann particularly good and of course Solly who never has a bad game.
Excellent Tactical Plan by CP. Blackpool are still using Holloway's 4-5-1 to 4-3-3 system, with three narrow Central Midfielders. So CP matched up in Central Mid man-for-man, with Jackson-Pritchard-Stephens. Wagstaff & Wilson also had the role of stopping the full backs getting out, as the wide midfielders. The team were disciplined, each individual did their job and after an initial burst from Blackpool, we stifled them very effectively. When we had the ball, we played some good penetrating football along the flanks and took our chances well. The substitutions were also well timed.
Excellent 3 points, taking us nearer the 50 point target. Full marks to CP again, following on from Watford, although I still can't see why we couldn't have fielded a stronger team in the Cup. We could have won that one as well.
Started off poorly but when Taylor clattered their player and there was astoppage in play we seemed to come alive. Solid win, thought before the game Blackpool were there for the taking then I saw the team we had and the lack of subs and I did worry but this team has plenty of fight in it.
Please for Waggy to score, obviously tired in the 2nd half, my MOTM would go to Kerms, great turn and pass to set up wilson for the second goal and overall was excellent at leading the line today, showed to day if we play it to his feet he can create chances for others. Jackson a close second who was excellent in midfield
Good win for us. A chance for Wagstaff which he took. A substitution performance from Harriot that looked promising. 11 points from bottom 3 and 7 points from play offs. Also great to see Charlton win on a Saturday at home too.
A slightly interesting point to make is that all 11 starting players were playing in L1 last season, 10 with us (+ Wilson).
Can anyone shed any light on (unused) sub Ajayi? Never heard of him but guessing he's a youth product?..........................
He is a central defender who can also play right back.He is very quick and good in the air and reminds me of Richard Rufus, his distribution is not brilliant but that will come with time.
Blackpool bossed the first part of the game then when we scored it seemed to knock the stuffing out of them. Played some decent stuff at times and a comfortable win in the end. Callum Harriott has got a lot about him by the looks of it from his brief cameo. Was it him who scored a screamer against Bromley pre season before last?
The slow start is a real worry and we could have been punished.good to see waggy back have played better and only drawn .but the commitment from the players was great. Seems to be a real togetherness from this bunch.

All very satisfactory
7 points behind Watford and we've played a game more but yes we can still dream.
Certainly better to be looking up than down.

A win on a Saturday feels so good!
Was bloody cold.
