Morrison - time for a change?

  • Incidentally despite living abroad I do still go to my fair share of games (about 5 last season and 2 so far this including Ipswich away)

Spot on CE. I get fed up with people given opinions on games/incidents they have not seen.

Sorry. I thought the whole point of CL was that regardless of whether or not you are physically able to attend every game (of which the majority of us on here do not!) you are still entitled to an opinion.

Evidentially not listening to you clowns!

Where on earth did you get that idea?

Always best to watch a game/highlights before spouting a load of what i heard on the radio.

Actually if you bother to read my original post I did not base my comments purely on this one game.

It's the way you worded it. You said "isn't it about time that Morrison was dropped/benched" = same thing.

If you had said, Morrison sounded like he had a poor game, what has he been playing like this season, as I'm in Denmark & can't form a decent opinion, that would have been fair enough.

I don't suggest you should be demoted at work as I don't know. It may be my opinion & I'm entitled to it, but it would be baseless, so I wouldn't say it.

    Fair comment.
  • Our problem is our lack of invention or pace in midfield, a captain that can't hack it and last 90 minutes and another who lacks nothing in enthusiasm and effort but just isn't up to Championship football in my opinion.

So what is the other games this season, who have seen/or heard that he's been at fault then?

Fair play to you, I wasn't expecting you to agree. I'd say Solly has been our best player this season & Morrison 2nd best. (I'm not including the likes of Fuller & Haynes who haven't played many games).

Morro made a couple of crucial mistakes today & also against Boro. But I can't recall many others & he's regularly in our top 3 performers.

2nd name on the team sheet for me after Solly.

Listening from afar (and attending the occasional game) means that my view of the current team is admittedly a little clouded being that I am so reliant on CAFC Player and other media outlets for news snippets. However, from what I've seen/heard/read I'd go along with your comments in that despite everything I have written here about Morro he would still be the 2nd or 3rd name on my team sheet. If we had a fully fit squad to choose from I think the order would be something like 1, Solly 2, Hamer 3, Morrison, Wilson or Wiggins, 4, Cort or Kermo (just because I love the man).

I'll leave it at that. Enjoyed the lively discussion even if I felt a little on my own at times! ;-)

    Fk
  • Akin to dropping Rufus for me. Part of the spine of the team
  • He only made mistakes yesterday because of the smoke in his eyes still
  • Who do we have that can make Morrison look 2nd choice?
Better than most of the defenders I've seen in this league.
He makes mistakes occasionally. If he didn't he wouldn't be playing for us, he'd be playing for Arsenal or Tottenham or Chelsea and getting paid 20x what he is getting.
  • He's been consistently very good for us and centre backs are prone to a howler. He's made two mistakes and I would not swap him.

    agreed
  • A big no in my opinion.

Admittedly the guy had a mare yesterday but we're all entitled to a bad day at the office. On another day he would've got away with those mistakes and no one would be questioning him.

And as for being fed up with him making these mistakes often? I'm a season ticket holder and have been to a handful of away games and genuinely can't remember Morrison ever doing similar?!

Top player in my book. Him and Dervite will blossom.
  • Disgraceful some of the abuse flyingkiwi's been given in this thread. Really don't like this "community" sometimes. Fair enough he might have raised something many of you don't agree with, but some of you must lead sad, sad lives to attack some one like that.

The guy comes across as a windup merchant who has nothing better to do than dig out one of our players - I actually think it's a good thing how supportive our fans are of Morrison.

He's not exactly had a lot of abuse either - you're sounding like the Daily Mail.....

Agreed. There are some very rude people on here who brook no opinion but their own.

Give a bit of their medicine back though and they don't like it and, hey presto, your threads get sunk!

What is Britain coming to with all these naughty rude people - I bet some of them are even rude to opposing supporters.

Be that as it may this is meant to be a forum about opinions and a few manners and mutual respect don't go amiss.

That said I allowed myself to be dragged into it earlier on another thread.

Its a football forum so the odd bit of industrial language is to be expected.
  • Did the Dervite/Cort partnership from last weekend deserve to be broken up .... On yesterdays evidence no !
Hindsight is a wonderful thing :-)
  • we are well blessed in the central defense area - a very good attribute - just wish the rest of the side were as good - maybe we should look at playing all 3 until Wiggins comes back? hamer - cort morro dervitte - wilson - stephens frimpong pritchard - jackson - haynes hulse. wilson and jackson as wing backs. That would be my team.
  • And drop Solly????????
  • apologies - i have missed out solly - he will go in instead of jackson - love jackson but just too slow now
  • Can't believe the words of anyone who would forget about Solly !

Maybe time for a "Solly - Time for a change?" thread.................

    Good idea.

Or a "Red shirts - Time for a change?" thread. Then I can get all upset if someone tells me I'm barking.
  • Fair enough - i resign - it is the only honourable thing i can do. Solly is top draw, no question - A fantastic player, destined for the prem.
