No. It was a backs against the walls time for both players & fans & we both stood proud. It was not a day for the niceties. Jeez we'd beaten them 11 times out of 65.They were at home and unbeaten for 12 games, having won the last 4. If we won the league with over 100 points some would complain. Oh yes they did :-)
How on earth did no one talk about the great run by Stephens in 1st half bringing the ball from the right to centre almost on the 18 yard box line, We were screaming for him to let fly one of his specials but he seemed to chicken out and laid the ball to Kerkar on the wide left... Why didn't he take a shot no one will ever know! Confidence issue?

Sums it up for me, Covered End.
A point gained that most on here didn't believe we'd get.
Positives: Cort and Dervite very solid well done; Defence generally very good. In spite of injuries we did well and cancelled out their in-form attack. Job well done. Great singing even if a bit offensive and only served to wind them up especially the Jeremy Kyle (he's coming for you) bit but then most of the singing is done by the under 25's and that is what you are going to get. But a great atmosphere and in spite of no goals Charlton had the upper hand by not conceding and i look forward to Brighton
I'm surprised more people aren't disappointed with our overall performance on Saturday. People seem to be overplaying the idea that it was a good, battling point. But the truth I can't get away from is:
We didn't have a single shot on target for the whole game!
In two trips to the New Den in three years, we have offered almost no attacking threat. Looking at the squads, I wouldn't say that they are that much better than us. For over 3000 Addicks to make the trip to Bermondsey and for the team to offer very little going forward leaves a bitter taste. I wanted more than anything for us to win yesterday, and whilst the atmosphere made for a memorable day, I would struggle to sit down and watch the game again on DVD.
Wasn't anybody else underwhelmed by our lack of chances created?
I agree, but given Millwall are the form team at the moment, given the number of players we had missing and given the atmosphere and our record at their place i am more than happy that we dug in held strong and got a point when in recent history we would have been well beaten
Solid performance without ever really attempting to play (apart from a 5 minutes spell in second half) With all our pace being out injured at the moment it was always going to be tough but defence were outstanding, midfield battled and Hulse did well. Kermo doesn't seem to be putting his body on the line like last season. Once Haynes, Wiggins and Wilson are back, the return fixture will be a proper game of football. Yesterday was about doing a job and it was a job well done. Enjoyed it - loved laughing at the cretins in their east stand - pull the sheeting off the seats and then stand there - hold me back, hold me back - what a gang of sad cases. Green mugged that short bloke off - fatty got smacked with the truncheon - great entertainment - no wonder the genuine millwall fans find it all so emabarassing these days. All in all, a good day out and i think they are peaking now - if they don't go up this year (and they aren't quite good enough) Jackett will be off and they will sink back to League 1. Us, we are a work in progress - CP is a true legend - players will run through brick walls for him, fans will back him to the hilt. We are on our way back up. This time next year we will be firmly back as number 1 in south London and taking our pick of the millwall and palace players. Looking forward to a good second half of the season.
Good teams are built on a solid defence and we've certainly got this covered. If we can improve our midfield then maybe we will have an outside chance of the playoffs. Realistically given our current squad midtable is a good position - anyone on here must be happy when we appeared to be in meltdown against Cardiff not so long back. Fans have got behind the team this season and CP has built up a good team spirit.
Away from home- you keep it tight above all else - then you have an attack that can grab something - We have a more potent attack when it has a bit of pace in it and Haynes provides that - more than happy with a point. Nobody can moan about our away record.
Shame there are now four times as many comments on the "flare and trouble" thread than this one :-(
Then again, we don't have any goals to discuss...
I think you'll find that as we didn't lose most of our supporters can't moan on this thread so went over to the flare and trouble thread so they can have a good winge.

You did see some of the Curbishley seasons didn't you? You know, when we were going, "yeh, mid table, winning ugly is all very well, but we need a bit more flair in the side and style of play if we are ever going to take that next step to playing Malmo FC in the European cup"? You know, just before he left and we got relegated twice.
i think this year we will stay up and get better next year, but at the moment we are quite a bit behind Palace and Millwall, they are both used to this division.Really enjoyed the day and a good defencive team performance but i wanted us to win yesterday but, as a team like ours they missed key players aswell but they managed to attack.
Them extra 5.5k mustve just heard there was a south london derby on and snapped up tickets thinking it was palace, cos they dont give a monkeys about us.
On a separate point, 9k for a big game against another top 6 side on a saturday afternoon. Even at our lowest ebb in league one with midweek games against bury or bristol rovers, and ignoring the grossly exaggerated 'attendances' we still always had at least 10k of our fans turn up. Millwall really are south londons orient.

Shows it's worth keeping the faith.

Not much more to add that people haven't already said.
Thought we battled well for a point, defence looked solid and Dervite proved myself and many other wrong who were worried about missing Morrison.
Only disapointment was that we didn't introduce a bit of pace earlier as I thought we could have shown Shittu up for was he is, just a big lump.
Great atmosphere and a handsome few beers in Deptford and Forest Hill after the game.
Then again, we don't have any goals to discuss...
You did? Fair enough.
;0)
for their next home fixture against leicester 9,040 home fans
only 5,579 different
