I love the drumming and noise from the supporters, but no apologies for repeating this, please please please don't light flares. The stadium went onto full evacuation procedures yesterday and they could have cost us a win.
It wasn't just the Red Army that were in full voice. There were a good few 'old school' chants started by another group close to me, songs that we sung in the old covered end! Well done to those fella's too.
Anyone else think that stewardess looks a bit like Kate Middleton? Perhaps one for the Would ya thread Bear in mind that women in jobs like that are not allowed to make themselves up in any way whilst at work...
Looking at the Bristol City forums this morning, a lot of unhappy bunnies on there.
jesus this support is Bi-polar---up one result down in the darkness the next !! Enjoy the moment this is CAFC.
101 points last year and a few naff results dont mean we are shit in a blink of an eye. Two good results dont mean we are Prem bound either.
Powell has never managed in the Division, the side has injuries and he didnt get the budget he was expecting(maybe) so it will be a bumpy ride but surely thats NORMAL for us ?
I
With you on this, GH. Looking at the last five games though we'd have taken all those results bar Middlesbrough and I always felt that game ran away from us in the last half hour rather than us being second best throughout.
We've had some poor results, notably Watford and Barnsley, and evidently struggled at Forest, but I've never felt I was watching a relegation team and Chris Powell's ability to get the players he has to put in a shift is beyond doubt.
He is still learning, which I know he would acknowledge, but we will be just fine as long as he is left to get on with the job. Hopefully the last two results make that a lot more likely.
And it's so much more enjoyable watching football in this division too.
pretty much how i see it GH & AB... nothing wrong with enjoying a win and going a bit mental, same with when you lose, should be able to have a bit of moan up and air your views but then you have to put it to bed either way and crack on with the next game... its an old saying but you just gotta keep on keeping on till the fat lady sings, then you can do no more but celebrate, be contented or at worse commiserate.
as for powell, in brief, i hope he can grow and rise as a manager as we need to grow and rise as a club again, ideally togther, that would be special and great for me as fan having already witnessed the same kinda thing with curbs, fingers crossed...?
Just watched the goals on the Sky link earlier in this thread. V good finish by Morro - wondering why was he so far forward, as from the highlights it looked like open play, or had we just had a corner or free kick?
Delighted for the team and SCP -let's keep the momentum going all the way to the Den!
At the start of the season, if someone told me we'd be competing with Leeds, Birmingham and Bolton at this point I'd have been dead chuffed. To be honest, after the season we've had so far on and off the pitch I'm still thrilled at our position and this result has helped us no end!
I think we have been terribly unlucky this season and was worried after the Boro game that this was starting to get to us. My gut feeling has been all along that we have enough quality for the play offs at least, but when you are on a bad run fans get at the players and they become inhibited and failure is a self fulfilling prophecy.
What has done for us is working out the best way to play against teams that set out to stop you at home, injuries meaning Sir Chris has had to play players out of position and early doors some key wrong decsions going against us.
What has been massive for us is the fans last Tuesday. We have in the past got at players when things are going against us. That is usually out of frustration and is in the form of moans or groans at backwards or sideways passes. The frustrated crowd wants the ball booted upfield all the time! But on Tuesday - we had a sense that Chrissy needed us and we forgot about the moans and got behind the team. I have no doubts that had we not done so we wouldn't have turned that game around. Had we lost that, well we could have been in the depths of despair right now.
The message is - we have to get behind the side throughout the season - when things are going against us- be that 12 man. And when all is said and done and we achieve our goals this year, we can look back and say - the fans played a major role. Especially those in North Upper.
We still have to crack the home form against the teams who set out to crowd the midfield and deprive you of space. Certainly part of the away side's tactics is to get the crowd against the home team so if we take the hint and follow the fans fantastic example against Cardiff- that aspect won't work. I think the rest is really about having combinations that give the defence more to think about - Haynes' pace has certainly added a new dimension to us.
Thought Stephens was excellent yesterday and was unlucky not to score. The centre mid pairing really seems to be working.
Cort won everything in the air against that absolute lump up front and thought we played some really nice stuff at times.
Atmosphere was good. I'm not sure if the younger lot dont know the words to some of the older songs or what but they seemed to shout down anything that was a bit old school. Well down for creating a bit of noise throughout though.
Another top away with the boys though and the team coming over at the end you could see how much it meant to them.
Must agree with Muttley. No player in the history of the world has ever played better in the face of barracking and personal abuse. Real fans should encourage and if a player is struggling, encourage him and support the team. The last couple of games have shown the effect this can have. If you must boo, then save it for the end of the game when you are making your feelings known without having a negative effect on the outcome.

Totally agree re the crowd being the 12th man. Remember the days when we first in the Premiership, 20k was deafening. Great backing yesterday and long may it continue. Did Millsmall really only take 180 to Bristol? They did well to ruin ALL the away seats then?

The fans have got right behind the team in the last 2 games, right from the start.
It's been vital.
Players have remarked that the atmosphere has really contributed to their performance.
And we can also see how the players are giving 100% for their manager.
It seems to me that we have a real unity developing again - manager, players and fans all working together.

And thanks, ISLS.
