Really good solid performance. Hope the panicers will stop panicking a bit now. Top marks to the 1000 or so who made the trip - excellent support. Good phsycology from Poweel at the end. Getting the team in a huddle in front of the singing fans. Whether they could hear his words doesn't matter the message was clear.
1) We've beaten a team close to us in the league and pushed them further behind us. 2) We've demonstrated some early signs of some consistency by winning back to back games for the first time (also doing so off the back of a heavy defeat showing there's still plenty of belief in the squad). 3) We've made the unexpected win vs Cardiff count for something by backing it up with a more expected win.
We could really do with a convincing home performance next, ideally including a clean sheet.
"Charlton fans packed out their end, never stopped singing from start to finish - fair play to them they were amazing." from a city forum.
Yes and what a great atmosphere which the players picked up on as well, i think they really appreciated it.
Can't add much to what has already been said but good to see Fuller back, Seaborne 1st game new team did okay and JJ in the 2nd half led by example a real team spirit and togetherness provided a much needed away win.
Well done on the post. The first half finish by Haynes was excellent. The second half goal by Morrisson was very good after some comedy defending. Stephens looks dangerous when he gets into more advanced positions. I would like to see Pritchard score after all the effort he puts in, in midfield. Solid defending for the Bristol City scramble near the end.
Another great 3 points.
BTW, for those a bit technically challenged (like me for a couple of minutes) the clip works but you need to press the computer button as opposed to the mobile.
Blimey, could the Sky Sports fella sound any more bored when describing that? Think he said that was Haynes's first of the season as well which is obviously not the case. Though to be fair he did score his first of the season an entire 5 days ago.
If you're going to muck about at the bottom of the table then you have to beat the teams below you. We generally like to capitulate against the bottom teams so I'm really glad we've taken control of this one. Onwards and upwards
Yes he was mogodon man!
It's pleasing that the headline aren't about us, with the story all about Bristol City's struggles. A big win for us, but one I had been confident about as they are on a terrible run, and I imagine the next managerial change is on it's way...
just got in from a nice weekend in Bristol, haynes could have had a hat trick, but took the rebound well after stephens shot hit both posts. seaborne looks a steady player, and blended well in defence considering he hasn't played for a while. Morro and Cort soaked up everything at the back, Solly just gets better every game. Midfield works well with jacko on the inside and gets more involved in that position. Stephens unlucky with one shot which caught the keeper off his line. Hulse and Haynes caused trouble all afternoon. My niece works for BC and said there were 1300 charlton there. Crowd back to their vocal best. Bristol were poor, and look relegation fodder on this showing, but take nothing away, this was a good all round team performance from the boys.
Sad to have missed this one as great effort but sounds like good time was had by both players n fans Hopefully get there next week as work seems to be getting on top of me at weekends at moment n need the extra funds! Anyway well done every one enjoyed reall ur postive comments tonight Good night n god bless Going home soon!!
I was always confident that we would win there, our away form has been superb and its just a shame that we have chucked away six points on the road by failing to win at Brum, Leeds and Wolves when we should have.
If we had won those games we would actually be in 8th position and on the edge of the play-offs, can't help thinking that we are more than a match for Huddersfield and they are in 6th - maybe we could 'do a Reading' and come on strong in the second half of the season? Got to be possible.
Finally, interesting to note that we have played six of the top seven at home already, winning two, losing two and drawing two.
Didn't go today, but great win for us against a team who would of looked at us as a team to re start there season against. Haynes sounded like he played well, just hope we can keep him fit for a good period of time Nice to have a proper left back again which means King Solly back at right back Lets carry the form on to Burnley and who knows what could happen after that. We might win at Millwall
Fantastic awayday - great support - loud, a collection of songs, lots of support for Chris Powell - if only we could generate noise like that at home... One of the bugbears of having a bigger, more modern high stand!
Man of the match for me probably Jackson - got stuck in, and some lovely passes. Same could be said of Stephens. Hamer really commanding, taking control of some of Morrison and Cort's more dubious moments - Could not believe the team spirit - amazing what a bit of confidence does for ya!! Great scenes at the second goal and at the end with the players, and Chrissy Powell right at the very end the badge and the fist pumps - what a great day!
jesus this support is Bi-polar---up one result down in the darkness the next !! Enjoy the moment this is CAFC.
101 points last year and a few naff results dont mean we are shit in a blink of an eye. Two good results dont mean we are Prem bound either.
Powell has never managed in the Division, the side has injuries and he didnt get the budget he was expecting(maybe) so it will be a bumpy ride but surely thats NORMAL for us ?
Agree with all comments above! Had a fantastic day and well worth 6 hours in the car. The team were full of confidence and JJ was like a different player - the one we had last season. It is wonderful to sense the team and fans feeling as one. Well done to the drummer, you and your mates were fantastic. I really appreciated all the positive song. Thanks.

I posted earlier how much you could see the players appreciated the support over the last week and it does feel like we are on is this together sort of mentality.

With you on this, GH. Looking at the last five games though we'd have taken all those results bar Middlesbrough and I always felt that game ran away from us in the last half hour rather than us being second best throughout.
We've had some poor results, notably Watford and Barnsley, and evidently struggled at Forest, but I've never felt I was watching a relegation team and Chris Powell's ability to get the players he has to put in a shift is beyond doubt.
He is still learning, which I know he would acknowledge, but we will be just fine as long as he is left to get on with the job. Hopefully the last two results make that a lot more likely.
And it's so much more enjoyable watching football in this division too.
When we are under it Hamer coming to claim/punch has improved massively on last year just before the break he got good distnace on a punch and when it was chucked back he claimed with ease.
We seem to be learning when we eed to d a bit of spoiling taking down a player when the break is on maybe its because last year there wasnt the need but last few games with our higher pressure when they break we give them the free kick.
The BC centre half looked like he had enough when hulse depart and fuller come on. I think our 4 fit forwards are decent outfit
Fantastic support yesterday. You could see the players react to it. Well done to the drummers and those that kept things going.
Great moment after the match when CP gave one of his inspirational team-talks on the pitch in front of our fans, with plenty of noise in the background.
He did the same last year at Brentford (?) I think.
The thing I'm enjoying most reading posts in the ratings thread is, once again after Cardiff on Tuesday, the good scores for our midfield. Delighted especially to hear Jackson played well again - can't underestimate how important that can be to the team.
Also, top marks for everyone who made it along there and got right behind the boys again.

Great crowd.
Some terrible defending from Bristol City, almost felt bad for them to be honest, well not them, more their fans.
Tickled me.

We seem to have an internal strength that's very strong...
I can see the Cardiff game being a major turning point for us ... Bodies in now and we can start to push on...
Get on a run and really start to threaten ...
JJ and SCP , together, leading the team onwards & upwards.
Hopefully get there next week as work seems to be getting on top of me at weekends at moment n need the extra funds! Anyway well done every one enjoyed reall ur postive comments tonight

Team confidence will be much better after todays result and although we have some tough games coming up i hope we can now go on a good run of form.
