Pritch really did seems to be everywhere in that video. He has his moments when he seems like he's the answer to our midfield questions but he needs to be more consistent in doing it. Glad we've stuck Wilson in midfield as he's obviously very conscious of being caught out defensively when he plays at RB and he does well to play a freer role. My Barnsley mate in the North Upper commented that he was glad Wilson waited until the last 10 minutes to remember he was the fastest player on the pitch as he was beating them all ends up down the left. One game hardly makes a season as ours has proved but the line-up felt right yesterday and hopefully they'll take that level into the next match, only with better finishing
Just watched the highlights on Player, the build-up down the right hand side with Solly, Wilson and Pritchard was brilliant, really classy link-up play - we just need the same down the left hand side and this will come once Wiggins comes back.
What we really, really need is BWP to find those shooting boots, if he can start nicking some goals it will do wonders for us.
I saw Wilson play at Stevenage a lot, and he's a right sided midfielder through and through. I was very surprised when Powell signed him and said he'd be cover for Solly. He hasn't played right back in his whole time at Stevenage, unless there were injuries or latterly last season when the new manager dropped Ronnie Henry and had no one else to play there.
Green has been useless this season. I'd have sold him in the Summer and had Wilson as first choice and Wagstaff as cover. I should imagine Solly and Wilson could work really well together as a pair - as well as Wiggins & Jackson did last season.
not sure cort was fouled for their goal. looked more like their bloke was stronger.
also pretty harsh on BWP, the first one was a swivel and pretty much all he could do. the second strike was sweet. kerkars chance was also a difficult one at the back post.
I can't understand it. At home it seems we are worse than useless, away we're terrific. Is there a gypsy curse on the valley of dreams? .. are the players terrified of the crowd? . This was a very good performance albeit Leeds were poor. Kenny made at least two terrific saves near the end to deny us the other 2 points. The team looked confident, well drilled and had a good shape. Let's hope that injuries don't cause any more disruption. Dervite, a big presence in defensive midfield made a lot of difference. Evina, given his chance, took it, Solly kept Diouf very quiet, Wright-Phillips when he came on was razor sharp, Hulse was a good target/outlet man, the midfield worked their collective socks off, the defense was tight ... All in all ... very impressive. Let's have more of the same at Wolves
If I was playing Charlton away at the moment I would play 5 in the middle and never over expose so you are always covered defensively when making attacks. Ideally my 5 would have to be strong and fit and my team must be capable of passing but the key objective would be to deprive us of time and space. Some of us go on about how strong teams are in this league, but whilst they do manage to frustrate us at the Valley, they don't exactly create much.
Probably one issue is that we don't score enough. Where the level was slightly lower last season, we often didn't do much for a while but would get a goal out of the blue. If we had gone 1 up against Barnesley, Watford or Palace, we probably would have got 2 or 3.
The problem for Chrissy is that he has to work out how to beat a team that sets up negatively. Of course a Palace or Barnsley fan will say - but we deserved to beat you. You can't really argue to hard with that on the play but that doesn't mean they were not negative. They were also effective.
I think we have been given some clues that we need players to run at opponents more. Of course if they do this and lose the ball, the crowd gets restless. I think Chrissy will work out a system but we need to be aware that against some more ambitious teams, we can set up as we do away.
Sitting deep as we do, our main weapon is a breakaway and we don't have much pace in the side to capitalise. Two out of Yann, Fuller and Hulse would give us the option to bomb crosses in but we've only had one of these fit so far. Two CBs should handle a lone big man.
I think Jacksons delivery from corners is fantastic and Stephens not far behind - that is a positive we could capitalise more on. I agree with the pace point. At home - Haynes would be an excellent partner for Fuller but as both are injured I think our wide men need to make runs into the box more and provide less floated crosses. Drilled crosses may be more productive.
Just watched the very good 15 mins of highlights posted on page 3. I think BWP was very unlucky. His 1st effort was decent & his 2nd was excellent. No fault there. Our under side of the bar effort, was in fact off the thigh of a Leeds player not Hulse. Looked like they all played well, especially Pritchard, Wilson & Solly. If I was ref I wouldn't have given a free kick to us, for their goal. Yes, there was contact on Cort, but I watched it 5 times & can't see any push tbh.

Relating to the suspected foul on Cort, IMHO I feel he was fouled, Cort is solid in the air and possibly the best header of the ball in the championship, would be very unlike him to miss a simple header, also the striker was very tight so there must of been at least some contact
With DD sitting in front of the back 4 this naturally pushes the centre mid's up the park somewhat, and enables them to get into the opponents box more often to help the Lone front man and offer targets to the crosses coming in.
BWP must feel nothing is going for him at the moment - I thinkl he is looking realy sharp but just needs to get that natuarl instinct back into his game which will come from confidence.

Agreed. His goal against Leicester was real quality, and he was obviously terribly unlucky to have his goal chalked off against Palace.
Overall I think he's played pretty well this season, and certainly wouldn't dismiss him as just 'a league one player' as some have.
BWP has been asked to play a couple of different roles this season.
Apart from lone target man against Blackburn and sub v Leeds, he's been asked to work the channels - the Garry Nelson role, as many will remember.
It involves a lot of unselfish hard running from deeper positions and closing down of opposing defenders - rather than just as a predatory penalty box striker, which was BWP's main role last year.

Didn't do anywhere near enough of it against Barnsley though. He had 45 minutes to show something and link up the play and I actually found myself furious at him, even though I've been one of his staunchest defenders against the 'BWP is lazy' claim. He didn't do anywhere near enough running in that one and it cost us. It's tough being asked to fill unfamiliar roles but he's got to put the work in from the first minute he's on the pitch at this level

I am in no way a Green fan I would rather see waggy out there but very harsh to call him useless.

Wilson looked like he had a good game.
Clearly a reaction for the mistake against Barnsley, but to say he has been useless all season is a huge exaggeration IMO.
They missed out a cort effort from a corner too. arrghhh!
