  • On top of all this, we're still yet to lose a game by more than a single goal. When the season ends, we're going to be in the top 10 when it comes to goals conceded. We just need to claw our way out of the bottom 5 of goals scored.

That record also probably shows the spirit and fight within the squad, that we play until the final whistle and won't roll over for any opposition.

Agree with this... it is very worrying that we do not have a goalscorer.
  • One thing I think that should be said to SCP's credit and that this result typifies is that he seems to have learnt quickly from our bad results this season and has not been afraid to make changes. A good example of that was dropping Hollands after Saturday and also accepting that having Solly on the left was affecting our balance. I think last year there were occasions where we could all see weaknesses (ie. in the middle) but he stuck with the same team because the standard was that much lower that you could get away with nicking wins without even playing well. This league is much less forgiving and SCP seems more responsive to that.
  • For those that were there , did it make a big difference having Solly playing at right back again , and was Pritchard playing in the centre of midfield?
  • I think the reason he played Solly at right back was so he could play Wilson in RM. Fortuantely Evina - despite what I understand was a dodgy start - had a good game so maybe a problem has been solved. Of course we'll need to see it over a few games but that is promising.
  • I think Solly returned to his correct side to cover Diouf's tendency to come to left touchline. Let's hope he stays RB. BWP card was deliberate handball I think not continuing after flag, but how from ref's position a) he could see it b) decide it was deliberate - I don't know? Homer!
  • Was it handball - one thing BWP has is a terrific ability to gain control of a difficult ball? Anybody see it clearly?
  • Feels like with a bit more luck we could be much further up the league. Pleased once again CP has rallied the squad and they've produced another performance. We can clearly compete in this league, I'd just like it if some fortune went our way for a change...

Great goal and celebration by Dervite.

Seems that whatever has happened Powell has kept the full commitment of the players.

Yes, we need to start winning games, especially at home but with luck and no more injuries that will come.

Can anyone tell me who played where in midfield? Wilson on right and Dervite in front of back 4 but how did the others line up?

Not sure if this has been answered Henry but we played 5 in midfield Wilson RM, Pritchard, DerviteCM (just in front of back 4) Jackson, Kerkar LM.

Was gutted when their goal went in just before half time which was the only real serious attempt in that half imo. The half time chat must have been fairly easy though by SCP 'Much of the same and we will be fine' I suspect. The equaliser was not long in coming after the restart in fact I was still finishing my beer under the stand and heard the roar before the delayed action came up on screen! All the debutants had good outings. I was impressed with Dervite especially as he is normally a CB and he gave us the little bit of height and muscle and strenght that we seem to have lacked so far this season. Hulse did a brilliant hold up job and used all his experience by making a nuisance of himself to their CBs in fact I would go as far as to say he is exactly what we need for a 4-5-1 formation away from home. Evina (poetic license 1st league game this season) did ok and definitely improved the balance of the side which enabled Wilson to play his natural position and together with his energy and that of Pritchard enabled Jackson to pace himself for the 90 mins and looked more like his old self. To all those doom and gloom merchants out there I told you after the Barnsley game not to be surprised if we got at least a point and I was proved right by a bold team selection by SCP albeit the late inclusion of Pritchard for Stephens was a tad lucky but hey you need a lucky break in football and good luck to SCP who got his last night.
  • I had a £100 bet on sunday with somebody ( a long time supporter but who shall remain nameless ) who said we were going down. I've seen enough to see that we aren't that far away from being a good side in this division. Although i haven't seen any of the game last night, i wonder if the introduction of a proper target man - somebody we can build attacks off of, might be a key inclusion in getting things to click better going forwards. BWP and Fuller and haynes if he ever gets fit are good at what they do but Fuller is the only one with the strength to do that but it detracts from his other, more dangerous attributes. I'm confident we will get it right at home soon as well.
  • How well did Evina do? Those there have said that Solly and Wilson looked so much better in there natural positions due to Evina's inclusion.

Was the left flank a weakness with evina and Kerkar? Or did they offer something going forward as well as stout defending?

All in all, a good point I feel, seeing as we have dominated other teams, and got nothing from those games. (Watford spring to mind)

Apparently only around 17,500 at Elland Rd

Can't remember the last time I heard that low a number for a Leeds home league game!

Well done CP and the lads

I travelled to and from the match with three Leeds fans who predicted a poor turnout as this was the first of three home games in a week and was the least attractive! They play Birmingham on Saturday and Southampton in the league cup next Tues. Tuesday nights are also bad nights results wise for them apparently and I am pleased to say that on the way home I mentioned that nothing has changed then!
  • Heading back from Leeds very hungover. Leeds were definitely there for the taking last night and those two late chances for bwp would have put the icing on a committed, sound performance

Great result, even though I predicted a 1-2, due to injuries I though we were in for a kicking.
Really pleased for Wilson, and Pritch as well. I saw the goals on Sky and there was a push on Cort, but I'm resigned to the fact that we are not getting any kind of break from the officials at the moment. Devittes goal was well placed and his celebration was very spirited, sounds like he's one of us now...

Excellent management by Powell and Dyer, it takes bollox to make wholesale changes, well done chaps.

And after reading the reports of those that went, what to do with Stephens? Hmmm..........

Stephens will be sold in January mark my word.
  • So it's Devito according to SSN bloke...Colin; what a w*anker blaming it on the crowd. Fans must love him.

I thought Evina looked at home and comfortable. I didn't think the left flank was a weakness but the right was very strong. I thought Kerkar had a decent game too.

There was a moment in the second half when Diouf thought he would make a monkey out of Solly. He found out what we know: that there is no way past the little fella on the floor. He did get beaten in the air several times but no danger came from it.

is it true that a few are staying away in protest of the failed takeover?

Never heard that mentioned although Bates is not happy that the fella Cawley who slapped Kirkland may have scuppered the deal. I've been to Elland Road a few times and never seen it half empty before with no atmosphere. Not even their Kop got going; how embarrassing to be outsung by 350 die hard addicks!
  • To be fair- it is difficult to get going when there isn't anything to sing about - credit to us too I suspect.
  • is the goal anywhere online?

That made me chuckle Fanny :-)
  • Cheers for the highlights jams.

Looked like Solly and Wilson were getting plenty of joy down the right. Look forward to seeing that combo linking up to good effect in forthcoming weeks.
BWP should have done better with that first effort which Kenny blocked, but the volley he hit minutes later was sweetly struck and God only knows how Kenny got something on it. Could have been the perfect ending.
Encouraging display, but with Wolves coming up next we will need to put in at least as good a performance if we are to get something there.
However, we are due to get a couple of decisions go our way soon - so far we have been on the wrong end of almost everything.
