Some comments astound...Well done SCP for interesting (and ultimately justified) starting eleven at Ipswich -though Wiggins and Kermorgant were clearly a great loss. Green is such an enigma, undoubted ability but still so naive! Kerkar might develop, who knows (sweet left foot and worked hard)..... I'm no lover of Hollands but if you're going to leave him out, Chris, just make sure someone sits in front of Morrison and Cort, because we nearly threw it away allowing Ellington and Scotland to run at us in the last 10.....
Stephens MOM by a mile, because of the overall quality of his passing (Won't someone agree with me?).
  • what a pleasant surprise, thought we would lose, could be the start of a run of wins now

    I'll agree with you.

Do not want to burst any ones bubble, but I was there and we beat a rubbish team, with the exception of there numbers 14 and 18 up front who gave us a lot of problems. If we play football as poor as that against Blackburn then the team will loose 3 nil. But at least we got 3pts and found a team worst than us, now need to find two others.

We should celebrate our victories as much as we smother ourselves in doom and gloom. Having read most if the thread I don't think any one is suggesting we have become world beaters over night but some including me were wondering where the next point was to come from and a good performance against any team is something to celebrate. We can get back to the usual doom and gloom if things don't turn out positive next week. Meanwhile LLLH

But - and I'm certainly one who celebrated yesterday's victory and felt we fully deserved to win - msomerton has a point - Ipswich were poor and for long periods in the game (particularly first half) we were not tight enough when not in possession with Scotland, in particular, being given too much space to turn and shoot - a better forward would have taken one of the many chances he had.
I really don't disagree with what either of you have said, I just would prefer to enjoy this win now, keep my head in the sand till Wednesday and worry about what other teams better forwards could do to us prior to the Blackburn game.

If we can't be happy after a win, even against a poor team then when can we be.

when we beat a decent team in the top half at least
  • I pin my misery on the millwall games!

I'll be happy game by game.
  • Knock Knock?
  • Great to see us win, and by all accounts Fuller play his heart out. Couldn't tell much from the highlights on FLS but to win away after a poor run should hopefully give us the boost to carry on for a few games at least.

Not sure about all the negativity
  • Was first away game on Saturday and, whilst I can understand some of the constructive comments on here, can't lose sight of the fact that for a lot of our players this league is a big step up. In that context, have very little expectation of us dominating a team for 90 mins, and will take the positives where we can.

In terms of individuals, agree with most others on here: Morro, Hamer, Solly, JJ, Stephens all impressed - even in only in bursts re the latter. Most encouraging for me, though, was seeing the determination and class of Fuller. He was blowing on the half-hr mark but saw the game out admirably, scored a great goal, scares the bejesus out of most Champ defenders, and will only get better!

    COYA!

    Who's there?
  • Sky commentator: "Charlton certainly rode their luck".

And, "The Ipswich goal was as a result of attractive build up play, but took a key deflection". Not even a mention of how damned lucky that was - the shot was tame and doubtful it was even on target. Oh well.

But Sky did show the lack of our central defensive midfield cover, particularly for their goal and a shot just before. We can't allow opponents to have a free run at our CBs.

Something to work on there, Chris!
