Scunthorpe loanee Leon Clarke does not believe he has a future at parent club Charlton Athletic.
Clarke, 27, joined the League One club on a three-month loan last Friday and scored on his debut in the 1-1 draw with Sheffield United on Saturday.
"I don't think I have a future there," he told BBC Radio Humberside.
"The manager said when I went there that if I got in and played well then the shirt was mine to keep but I don't think I've had the opportunity."
The former Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday man joined the Addicks from Swindon last January but only started one game and was sent out on loan to Crawley in March.
Having scored four minutes after coming on as a substitute on Saturday, Clarke is looking to make an impact during his time at Glanford Park.
"I got a call from the Charlton manager on Thursday saying Scunthorpe were interested and I jumped at the chance," he added.
"At any new club you want to hit the ground running and it breathed some confidence into me, which was nice.
"My match fitness isn't as high as I'd like it to be because I haven't played this season but hopefully I can train well and get in the team soon."
Apart from his inept cameos for us, what really got my goat about Clarke was when he was made to play in the kent cup V's Margate (I think). He just sat in the dressing room sulking and bitching that he was too good to be playing "at this shit-hole" of a ground, which got looks of bewilderment from his team-mates (which included Dale Stevens). I have this information from a very reliable source who was present.

That does not make him seem good but like all these stories, would be interested to here his side of it, as how many of us in are line of work would be happy with being told to do something that a lower down or younger employee still learning there trade would normally do.
see Scunny boss says no chance of a permanent deal because of Clarkes wages. Good news is the Scunny boss said to Clarke come here and score goals and then you will get a move to a Championship team, or above, we think he's that good. Yeah right. Old Trafford here he comes.

Maybe not Man U...........but Liverpool are short of a striker ot two !!

So it is clear that we are still paying his wages and then he goes off mouthing to the Press about how poorly we have treated him. Surely there must be a clause in his contract that means he is in breach of contract and can be sacked without compensation, just like most other employees elsewhere?
Perhaps rather than moaning Clarke would perhaps wish to reflect why he always appears to leave everywhere under something of a cloud blaming the club for not treating him properly. My guess is that once his current contract comes to an end he will be well within Scunthorpe's budget. I am afraid Clarke is one of those players where a little success in their early years goes to their heads and they think they are the finished article without having to work for it.
Difference is Clarke is actually still our player and showed last season in his spell at Chesterfield that he can score goals at that level. Unfortunately (for him and us) I think thats the highest level he can score goals in. He'll move on in Jan, we'll play his team in a cup, everyone will boo, and he'll score the winner.
For a while we have needed a forward to rough up defences and score the odd goal. Last year we only had Clarke and inconceivably CP chose to ignore him. This year we have Fuller, nuisance x 10. Let's move on.
I think he is the kind of person that is I better being a leading light at a smaller club than scrapping for a place in the team. Good luck to him, I hope we can move him on to mutual benefit
Di Canio is no mug and he saw it. Good luck to him at Scunny though.
di canio is the definition of a mug. sorry i think clarke was ok just lacking in one or two areas and didn't fit in, he said himself, but di canio is a racist twat, he did a crap job at swindon, so what he got them promoted, with the budget he had and the transfer policy, if he didn't that would have been the incredible thing. he just made an example of clarke so that people would be scared of him. if people can only say he brings passion, does htat not show you how shit he was. theo nly reason he got the job there was because he filled them (sunderland board) with confidence and fully assured them of survival, which others may not have, i have a physical hate for him, he is a very bad person, who treats a few people well to masquerade this.

Since Clarke arrived, The Iron are unbeaten with eight points from 12, and he has scored all their goals - http://www.cafc.co.uk/news/article/20120924-clarke-loan-update-387207.aspx (IL) #cafc
