If you feel so bad about it perhaps you should tweet him a private message instead of grassing him up on a fans forum .
The trouble with Twitter is that you leave yourself open by making comments in the first place. That is why platforms such as Twitter & Facebook can be so dangerous. I know of more than one family relationship damaged beyond repair because of comments in social media.
Umm, I think this is mountains and molehills but anyway... "Holocaust" was a word before WW2 and simply means great destruction, usually by fire. Only since WW2 has it become almost synonymous with genocide, when described as "The Holocaust". Hamer didnt do that - he said "a holocaust" - so if the valet at Gatwick had set fire to his car, he'd be right. although I reckon we've all given this much more thought than Ben.

this. "Holocaust" does not only refer to the nazi genocide. But on the other hand you'd probablu want to avoid using the word casually, unless you are a bit dense.
Don't think Hamer meant anything nasty in is tweet. I would just like to point out to posters who think 21, 22, 23 is 'young kids'. During the war, aircrews were made up of 19, 20, 21 year olds etc. My father-in-law was the 'old man' at 26. That sort of thing I find amasing. Youngsters find a maturity when they have to.

it's like the swastika and toothbrush moustaches, now there too closely associated with Hitler and nazis. So yes, not a word to used casually even if the original meaning of the word does fit the context.

Yes we oldens know all this mate, last I knew we dont live in the middle of a war, so you point is irrelevant to Hamer and other 21, 22, 23 years olds who live in todays world. They dont have to be grown up or educated about such things as the holocaust or WW2. I would guess that most of the aforementioned age bracket dont know who were the Axis and who were the Allies in WW2. Also I didnt mention 'young kids' just 'kids'. But thanks for pointing it out.
Collins Dictionary: Holocaust: "Great destruction resulting in the extensive loss of life, especially by fire. / A sacrificial offering that is consumed entirely by flames/ a rare word for a burnt offering"
A stupid thing to say, but not because it's offensive - it's just nonsensical. It's pretty funny that he's being corrected by people who don't seem to know what (else) the word means!
And as the good folk of Charlton life once again sprint to the moral high ground .......... this thread ladies and gentlemen is another example of why this forum is imploding with no football to talk about.
Why anyone famous would want to be on that freak show that is twitter with every thoughtless statement / quip being analysed to the nth degree by joe boreoff.com bloggs I'll never know
Obviously a silly thing to say but I'm not looking at ben hamer to teach me or my offspring the meaning of life

I didn't realise this! Nothing wrong with Ben's comment then IMO, just my ignorance.

Large, how old is he then? 21, 22, 23 - How much did you know about the world when you where that age, like the average 21, 22, 23 today, not much would be the answer, so yes he is a kid!

speaking of moustaches - I miss Hamer's

Noun:
1.Destruction or slaughter on a mass scale, esp. caused by fire or nuclear war: "a nuclear holocaust".
2.The mass murder of Jews under the German Nazi regime during the period 1941–45.
He's obviously referring incorrectly as it Makes no sense using the above!
