  • Just finished The Boys Season 2. Nowhere near as good as the first season. What I struggled with was the hour long episodes, some longer and they felt baggier than a nineties indie band. First episode and Season finale were Ok and there were some funny/gory moments inbetween. Also noticed the Lord of the Rings connection in one episode which I almost missed. All in all I was a bit underwhelmed.
  • I can’t seem to stay with Watchmen. It’s a good series but doesn’t hold my attention enough

Felt like the second season was slower to get going but really enjoyed the second half.
  • I watched episode 1 of Valhalla, an Icelandic crime noir on BBC4, but have to say I was underwhelmed. Not a patch on the other Icelandic crime series Trapped, at least on that showing. Anyone watched more, does it get better?

Episode 2 was better, but of all the Nordic countries I generally find Icelandic programmes the least inspiring. I didn't enjoy Trapped.

Done the first 2 episodes of Industry

Apart from featuring the type of people I would love to punch its really good and well written. Sound and visuals are incredible and its always fun spotting places I know in the background

Finished this today. Glad I watched at home and not on train with someone looking over shoulder. Can’t decide if I enjoyed it or not. More intrigue than anything. Didn’t understand a lot of their job, not that you really needed to. Didn’t particularly like any of them either. Should have guessed that Lena Dunham directed when I read after as have recently watched Girls and she is quite open to a bit of body on show and not shying away from the detail.....

Im not sure I believe that many women or diversity on the trading floor but may be wrong.
  • Red White and Blue in the Small Axe series is another great piece of TV which tells the story of the black police officer Leroy Logan in the Met. A great piece of acting from John Boyega - didn't realise he could be this good. Best acting performance I have seen this year.

    On Iplayer
  • First series of the Crown nearly done.

    Excellent stuff

  • Binge watched The Crown and The Queen's Gambit. Excellent Netflix productions.

Also enjoyed the 6 part series The Spy starring Sacha Baron Cohen. Based on a true story about an Egyptian spy working under cover in  Syria for Israel in the 60s. Thoroughly recommended.

Right Bolloxbloke, I've on a whim let this just queue jump about 20 others on my list purely on your post. On your head be it pal!
@bol@bolloxbolder i now give you the CL seal of approval for recommendations. Watched last episode tonight, really enjoyed The Spy

  • The undoing - thoughts?
No spoilers though please as it’s on ‘the list’
  • The undoing - thoughts?
After a fairly turgid first episode - I thought the rest of it was fantastic.

Big Little Lies in New York.
  • The undoing - thoughts?
Loved it. Can’t beat a good whodunnit with some excellent acting.
  • I’m sure it’s been mentioned already, but enjoying a regular visit to Schitt’s Creek. You need a good laugh during lockdown and this delivers. Great work from the Levy family

Never really liked Hugh Grant but between this and The Gentlemen he's changed my opinion.

Was never a fan but in recent roles as he's got older he has shown he can act. Was excellent as well in Paddington 2 and A Very English Scandal playing Jeremy Thorpe. Loved his sleazy role in The Gentlemen.
  • Hugh Grant is an excellent actor, awesome comic timing and can properly act

Comic timing is superb. He was wasted in some of his earlier roles.

In total fairness he was hired to play himself and that sold film tickets. Man had bills to pay and brasses don't pay for themselves

Same with Danny Dyer, a guy at work saw him in a pinter play and said he stole the show but pays his bills by being Danny the nortee geezer. Sadly Tim Sherwood has stole a lot of those roles now

Not blaming Grant but was just surprised at how good an actor he is. I used to think Danny Dyer was a bit of a plank but he's actually very funny and a smart guy. His podcast on Spotify makes me laugh.

I am going to give it a go, based on your view. Seen everyone raving about it on Twitter so just confirms it with the other reviews on here. CL is a good source for recommendations mostly.
  • I haven't seen the TV programme mate that isnt my recommendation!

I think to appreciate Hugh Grant as an actor watch About a Boy and The Gentlemen
  • Just finished The Undoing. It was good in parts and the acting was decent. I just found it a bit all too predictable and another drama with a weak ending. Have writers run out of new ideas?
  • Hugh Grant was great years ago in 'An awfully big adventure', he was also very good in that film about the bad opera singer, and the series about Thorpe.
Hiding away underneath the actor very often employed to be himself is an actor who can act.

I  think i misread that one lol , cheers

I quite enjoyed it but I found Nicole Kidman's overly worked on face a bit off putting. The ending was actually one of my favourite things about the show.

Yes, agree about the ending - thought it was pretty well done.

Unlike Ms Kidman’s forehead, which has been seriously over done.

Just finished season one of Bosch. Very good so far.
Bosch is excellent, I highly recommend the books too if you’re into reading
  • DNA on BBC 4 was very good, as @bolloxbolder said it was. It's Danish, but has a great deal to say about Polish attitudes to abortion (which have become more of a story since the series was made).

I seem to be stumped trying to get Series 5 of the Bureau. It seems I cannot just rent it off Amazon, I have to subscribe to Prime. I don't need or want Prime. Is there another way? (I cannot even find an illegal stream yet)
I watched series 5 recently on CinemaHD
  • Just smashed through the last series of Suburra.
Usual high octane violence and double crossing that rumbles along.
One thing that came to me whilst watching this one is that I haven't seen a single copper in any episode over the three series!
Anyone else who has watched it will know how preposterous that is.
A very good series. Love how it highlights Rome too
