JUST SEEN THE SQUAD. HERE'S WHAT I WAS JUST ABOUT TO POST!! MINE IS DEFINATLEY BETTER..
Hart, Green, Stockdale
Richards Jones Cahill Terry Jagielka Baines A.Cole
Parker(Depending on fitness) Barry Carrick Gerrad A.Young Milner A.Johnson Chamberlain
Rooney Bent (Fitness) Carroll Sturridge Crouch
The idea behind this selection is 4-3-3.
England are outdated playing 4-4-2.
We have good wingers in Ashley Young and Milner or even Sturridge can play then raw talent in Johnson, Chamberlain and Sturridge.
The central midfield isn't such a big deal as people make out. With 3 in the middle, you can combine any of Carrick/Gerrad/Barry/Parker/Milner/Jagielka to play there. People see Barry and Carrick and think boring, but then I'm sure Fergie and Mancini know slightly more than us..
Upfront you have to take Rooney, as on his day he can produce something special. Darren Bent in, not only bcos I love him, but he is a natural goalscorer (Unlike Welbeck). He needs the two friendlies and some behind closed doors matches and he will be back up to speed. I'd take Carroll because no matter what people say, the bloke is good with his head. We need that if we are 4-3-3 putting crosses into the box. It gives us another option. Crouch has been put in on merit, 22 goals in 44 international caps cannot be overlooked IMO
cant believe downing gone and no adam johnson. I know johnson dosent play much at city but when he has this season hes done a lot more than what downing did all season
Grant Holt is one jump from a red card in a major event like the Euros, and Bent just isn't fit (might get in the Olympic squad as an over aged player though)

Only 4 strikers , goodnight , will be lucky to get out of the group, just enjoy the Euros for the football , just don't follow the media band wagon and get carried away with England.
Really looking forward to this tournament as have no real expectations other than they give 100% (like at the start of this season with us) and there hasnt been the usual media hoo ha.
Cappello picked thsi squad before he left ...............and part of the leaving deal off £18m was they ahd to play this squad ....only player missing Joey Barton

There a few who could have been included as fringe players like Cleverley, but he's not been on his game since the injury, but otherwise, the squad, with what's available is as good as you'll get
We have Young, Milner and even Gerrard that can play on the left as well as Cole with Baines at left back.
Downing is the Danny Green of English football, might get a couple of nice crosses a game but you need more than that at this level.
And with Rooney being out for potentially two thirds of our tournament, Carroll not in great form and injury prone surely someone like Crouch who has a good record for England (even if I dont rate him) is a better back up plan than taking a spare left midfielder.
Johnson for Downing would be the only realisitc change I would make.
Otherwise, I can't see what else you can do with the squad with whats available, and what's available other then Rooney and Hart is average
Johnson for Downing (what a lucky lad he is!) for me too and I'd not have bothered with Terry either myself. But other than than what else could he do with the paucity of options available?

But I agree with you, he hasnt even done enough to get in the Tottenham starting XI this season!
And Downing is just a joke, would have gone with 5 strikers with Rooney being out.
Past caring now, was at 04 and 06 and spent thousands in the process but couldnt give a toss now*
*Unless we get to the semis and I start looking up flights...

Surprised Carrick has been left out to be honest
I know he hasnt done enough but suprised lennon didnt get on the back up list
