Latest speculation is no Walker Ferdinand Richards or Crouch to go with what we do know... no Smalling, Dawson Wilshere, Foster, no Rooney for 2 games and big doubts over Bent and Parker...
Hodgson works well with players who follow instructions. The England team are full of players with an inflated opinion of their own abilities and won't easily follow managerial instructions. That's one of the reasons Hodgeson struggled at Liverpool. If the players could dampen down their egos, swallow their pride and except that they are a lesser team who need to follow a plan, they could win. Look at South Korea in the world cup and Greece in the Euros a few years back.
There appears to be little likelihood of that. Chelsea beat Barcelona because they acknowledged that Barcelona was a superior football team and played accordingly.
The whole situation as it stands is Hodgeson trying to make a silks purse out of a sows ear. He can only do that if the players had a realistic opinion of their abilities. At England level, I just don't see that.
On defenders - Terry is a good defender but shows constant lapses of judgement. After the needless Barcelona sending off, and everything else how can he go instead of Ferdinand ?
Not quite sure, if it makes that much difference in the end. At least, it looks as though we will be spared the usual hype that England have a good chance of winning.
Could be very intresting tomorrow to c wat team actually Hodgson "struggles" to pick what with all these injuries. cant believe we ve just lost Walker, with no Ferdinand this must surely mean Terry is going?
cant belive so many have barry in there teams.. just dont get what this guy adds to england, he will end up with close to 100 caps for england for doing sod all. he just makes up the numbers.
agreed, a poor man's parker
He's a poor man's Tom Huddlestone. He makes Huddlestone look like an Olympic Sprinter in comparison to him walking around as if he's wading in treacle.
BBC sport reporting that Rio Ferdinand set to be left out of the squad. Personally think that is the wrong choice. Would of left Terry at home. They are also reporting Kyle Walker will miss the euro's through injury. That is a huge loss in my opinion!!
Wouldnt surprise me if Walker wasnt fit. He broke a couple of toes a few weeks ago and had been playing with injections but he took one hell of a knock to his ankle against Fulham and he was still limping when he came out for the 2nd half and was taken promptly off.
(From a selfish point of view, hope all the Spurs players get left at home so they get a decent rest!)
i would take 23 goalkeepers with me as the number 22 choice, you would be the 21 choice and my 72yr old mum would be 23rd choice, we have no chance, but who cares anyway, the referee will rip us off and the players (not me, you or my mum) will choke, bring on the new season!!
good luck to Woy though, knows his stuff, do i dare say we do a greece?
Apparently Scott Parker is very doubtful which is a great shame as despite the nasty way he left us is still a proper player. I don't have much interest in the England team to be honest, but that would be revitalised if Roy Hodgson jettisoned the old guard so please no more Lampard, Stevie me, Terry or Ferdinand! After all we ain't going to win the bloody thing so lets get the younger element in and start a rebuild.
Surprised that there is not more mention of cahill who I would have thought is more than likely to go. Like many others I would only take 2 keepers given the choice except we have to take 3. Joe hart apart there is obviously a lack of quality available, I'd probably go with stockdale and greenm I think we have to take 5 forwards given rooney's early ban who will probably be rooney, welbeck, defoe, crouch and carroll although no problem with me if holt goes.
Can see the "old school" team out there again. Hope I'm wrong as they've had their chance and blown it time and again. Gutted that Terry is going and probably Gerrard. Not really bothered how England do out there.

Why am I reminded of that expression about two bald men fighting over a comb? We've gone to tournaments with Crouch, Defoe, etc and not got even close. Carroll had had a terrible season in an awful team but is still young enough to g o to several more tournaments and oddly enough I think would do better in the England team than at his club. Time to move on I reckon.

could be a few new faces in there at this rate!

Thats why the put the squads up to 23 from 22.
Is there anything in the rules that you can't play a keeper outfield?
looks like Carroll instead of Crouch which is a joke in my book considering Crouch's scoring record for England
