It says three "against" comments but they could as easily come from other residents.
I seem to remember that one of the issues with not having access to that land was that it prevented access to the site for cranes etc to build the stand rather than being space for the Stand itself. But stand to be corrected.
Have we not already got planning permission for some expansion?
This application has not been granted yet so are we being concerned unneccessarily ?
The five year period of that permission has expired. My (limited) understanding of planning rules are that once you've been given permission once it is easier to get it again but that may not be the case if there has been a significant change in the meantime
If you want a conspiracy theory then rather than leaving the Valley perhaps the land owners are playing poker with the CAFC board. They know it will be an issue for the Club so are trying to get more dosh out of us by pretending to go down the road of building a block of flats. 20% Flats get built, 70% CAFC buy the land back, 10% we leave the Valley
If we were to get back to a postion where expansion was worthwhile, there may be an opportunity to buy the land back.
Not as if we need the extra capacity just yet, and having seen that Wolves spent millions on their expansion (possibly instead of investing in players), and where they are heading, we should not be in a rush. Read somewhere that Wolves have halted their development (they've got a new stand behind the goal, but decided to delay expansion of the Steve Bull stand I think) and now that part of their ground looks unfinished. Would ideally not want that at The Valley.
... perhaps the land owners are playing poker with the CAFC board.
Could be ... the fact that the new 'owners' tried to charge 20 quid to park there on saturday shows they are aware of what the land means to Charlton ... this is likely to be resolved in some way over the summer as the disabled parking places are no longer available and I would expect the club to find a solution ... if they move the parking elsewhere then maybe we will not try to get the land back.
it is the same land. LenGlover is right. The land was sold on. I thought it did not affect the expansion but as henry says, crane access MIGHT be an issue but must be way round it.

We were then later told that individual directors had bought the land. Or were those transactions completely different?
Can they object to it on the grounds they want to expand themselves? Sorry I dont know the ins and outs of planning apps.
:-(
Another good thing gone.
Let's enjoy the moment!

If expansion is "buggered" it is highly likely to happen.
Realistic rather than dramatic.
