I'm guessing this preston fella is not too happy with his lot at the momento, hence why he's here, didn't have too much excitement about this game as our fate is sealed, now after this twerp has appeared I hope we smash them.
Can someone please explain to me why this is such a big deal. Our away attendance seems to take on such monumental importance that you'd think it actually mattered. Most people have limited time and limited money and make their choices as to which games they'll go to accordingly. Good luck to those that travel away to watch The Addicks, I truly hope that they witness much entertaining football and as many wins as possible. But ultimately does it really matter, other than to the individuals that go? For the life of me I just don't understand why I should feel proud if lots of people scuttle off up north for the weekend, nor why I should be concerned if they don't. Please enlighten me.
TBF as much as the Preston lad might be bugging you some of the comments on here it really does beggers belief, some of your excuses for not wanting to go to the final away game of the season (fancy dress time for a last laugh) comments like 'It's a nothing game now' and 'we don't need the points now' surely this is a rare season that it was even more important to show your club and the players your true feelings for their efforts this season by supporting the 'champions' for the last away day? - I just don't get it......look I can take a club with poor away support (no offence) but excuses like them are simply bizarre but I'm sure this must p1ss the 'true loyals' that go everywhere.
Another thing this is a quote from a Brentford fan when I was inquiring about tickets in their home end and somehow your name cropped up - 'Charlton very rarely sell out at GP, from memory I don't recall any in our end.' - Now granted I don't know if this s true.
Not here to argue either and where is our mate BWPisgod gone?

Look what's crawled out of the woodwork! A Wendie Massive !
You and that Preston school kid can discuss our support to your hearts content when you meet up next season in division 3 !
A 'small' London club like us are never going to have really huge away followings, Champions or not this is the 3rd tier of English football.. away at Preston. Now I'd be going for a laugh and a beer if I could, but I'm going to save my money for a massive weekend for Hartlepool, the real party.
1k or 5k, we're Champions. We've spent enough following our team around the country, time to save the pennies for big away days like West Ham/Saints/Palace/Wolves etc.
Charlton supporters based in the Charlton area have the following road journeys (road miles not as the crow flies)
Two other clubs in London - Orient and Brentford
Four clubs in Home counties - Colchester, (48 miles) Stevenage (40 miles) MK Dons (63 miles) and Wycombe (50 miles)
All other teams are significantly more than 100 miles away from Charlton
Preston supporters based in the Preston area have the following road journeys (road miles not as the crow flies)
Three clubs from Lancashire - Rochdale, Bury, and Oldham
Three clubs from Yorkshire - Blades, (65 miles) Wendies,(65 miles) Huddersfield (44 miles) One from Cumbria - Carlisle (89 miles) One from Wirral/Cheshire - Tranmere (39 miles) One from Derbyshire - Chesterfield (73 miles) One from Nottinghamshire - Notts County (97 miles) One from Lincolnshire - Scunthorpe (98 miles) One from North East - Hartlepool (100 miles) One from West Midlands - Walsall (99 miles)
So in summary
Charlton fans have 6 clubs less than 100 miles from home
Preston fans have 13 clubs less than 100 miles from home Blades, Wendies and Huddersfield are in a similar position.
So despite the extra travelling distance and costs, we still have taken more fans away than Preston!
I agree that some of the excuses are hilarious. Will you pay for the train fare?
Why, are you short? if so there are options like asking on a public forum if anyone can spare you a lift or a mega bus or if all of them fail stick your thumb out and hold up a M1 North sign.

I agree with your first point.
As for the second point we sell out the 1800 allocation for Brentford every year, their were definately Charlton fans in the home areas this year.
Don't think the brentford lad was telling the truth op
So how you lot fixed for the weekend reckon you can take the blunts
Going to make interesting viewing this weekend
Feet up no care watching you lot fight it out for 1 place
I reckon a draw or win each for both you lot , with you nicking the result next weekend that see you up
I didn't want you lot to till the ched situation and the reaction from a lot of their fans
It's tense mate, it's a city divided, all the talk it football, even in harmless shops now you are either blue or red, I really hope we can win Brentford then relax and see the pigs hopefully trip up on tv, I'd love it if stevenage got something from that, set us up for Wycombe at Hillsborough on the final day, we have been given all four sides of the ground with Wycombe in the corner, should be very close to 40k.
Promoted, Champions, incredible team spirit, a manager we all love, nearly 100 points and still some have reason to moan. Away support - so what. If we were taking 5000 everywhere what would be left for people to moan about ?
As for Preston and Massive fans - how about turning it round to the subject of home attendances. Both clubs are based in cities. Preston have a population of about 130,000. Sheffield's is over half a million with only 2 clubs vying for support. Charlton is a small town in a city boasting numerous clubs, many of them high profile. Question to the Preston contributor and the Piglet - aren't you embarrassed about your home gates ?
Was also one of the 900 or so at Carlisle and I'd rather have the hardcore 900 souls up their than the plastics that I've witnessed at the emirates, whl and other top flight grounds couldn't give a flying fuck about numbers as long as everyone comes along and gives their all to get behind the boys end of discussion

Embarrassed?
No, is the simple answer.
We are within 30 minutes drive of 3 of the biggest and most fashionable clubs in England (Citeh, UTD and Liverpool)
In todays society of shameless support, of teams representing towns you have no affinity with, I think we do very well.
We have had the worst season for 15yrs, yet have managed to average 11/12,000 this season, demonstrating that we are actually capable of pulling in the numbers, with a few home gates of over 17,000 this season.
If we had have had the season you guys have had, I'm absolutely convinced that our average HOME gate, would have been similar to yourselves (15,000+)
So why take it out on us?havent you got rivals close to you ie burnley and blackpool who have very low gates?surely you could go bother them because to be honest your points are getting you knowhere on here!surely everyone knows we're little old charlton....?why would we have huge away followings?

BOOOOM
LIKE THAT ALAN LMFAO
Get real two teams in one City in League one remember, haven't you canvassed the whole of Kent and South East London for some decades, providing freebies like Buses and free tickets etc?
BTW - We will be very close to getting 40k AGAINST WYCOMBE IN LEAGUE ONE! so not quite sure how you can say we are embarrassed with that support, but this is nothing about us anyway, I was merely pointing out the fact the Preston lad raised a valid point, it's not my fault you all got defensive (apart from a few oohaa etc) about it.

Has this post been secretly holed? It doesn't seem as buoyant as it might.

Dick measuring contest?
I couldn't care less if we only took 4 to Preston. Fantastic home gates considering our football laden location and league position the past 5 years. On top of that a record breaking season for us. So if the Norveners want to moan, let em. Our time HAS come, once again. And no one can bring us down.

Think it's about time you and Preston grew a pube between you.
