  • for the record Brighton took 2,432 to their last meaningless away game in League One which was Notts County
and Norwich sold out their last meaningless away game with 1,800 at Bristol Rovers
So not that different to us, or are you going to explain that I've misunderstood the statistics?
  • Preston PfP if we needed the points we would have taken 4,000 plus up to your place. Fact is we have done the business week in week out and on the ladt day of the season 27,000 people are going to have the mother of all parties.

  • "Agree with some of what he has to say(obviously given my history!) but he has a terrible bee in his bonnet about us.

Do not think he will be applauding the team on Saturday!

Probably counting how many go in, look out for the White Preston shirt outside the turnstiles!"

I really don't have a bee in my bonnet. I've no axe to grind with Charlton, at all.

I just find it quite surprising, that a relatively big club like Charlton, have quite poor away support.

It's a shame that it turned into a row, but it was probably to be expected.

Our away support is not great in numbers & never has been.
However, we have far better home numbers than you, so run along please.
  • For comparison, Brighton had 87,000 at their last home game in league 1. Norwich had 198,000.
  • It's true our away numbers aren't the greatest, I personally said to myself I'd do at least 2 aways this season due to funds but Preston will be my sixth, Not a massive amount but more than I aimed for, I'd like to do every game but these things can't happen, due to various reasons which is why I'd never judge a teams away support, what's the point?

Sorry, but I've only just got round to looking at this. Great stuff! Turns out there's a whole community of OohAahs out there, comparing away, discussing methods of measurement etc.
    Bless.

Good answer, will be interesting to see what Mr Preston has to say on that score

Like you did last week at Carlisle?

    700 was it?

    You needed the points then.........

  • Mate, fuck off - eh?

This is the best thread since my Fulham one!

I hope Saturday's programme shows the away followings so Mr Preston can get a taste of his own medicine

They've had it tough these last few years though - and it's not as close as you might think.

No, really. Stop laughing at the back.

Listen mate some on here care about the away numbers others like me can take it or leave it. If you want to talk football I was impressed with your team that put us out of the league cup 2-0 even though both sides had a number of changes to give squad players a game and I really thought your team would be in the play offs at least at the end of the season. However you royally had your trousers taken down in the league game 5-2 ended up sacking your Manager and got Mr Westley in who seems to have gone down like a house on fire. We are looking forward to pastures new in the Championship whilst you are welcome to another year of up and under in that pub league known as division one. Best of luck and don't forget should you get a result on Saturday we had nothing to play for because...........we are already promoted as champions, away followers or not! For what it is worth I was one of the 930 that made the 650 mile round trip to Carlisle and the noise made and encouragement we gave the team that momentous day cannot be called into question.
  • Preston PfP 650 mile round journey to Carlisle. Think you will find the numbets taken to Carlisle was 950 and not your 700. Did we need the points to gain promotion from that particular game? No. We were reliant on results going our way. Carlisle fans said it was the best vocal away support they had seen for years there.

Enjoy the League one next season.
  • Think it's worth reiterating at this point that we'll be playing Championship football next season while PNE will probably be in League 1 for a few years yet...next season, at least.
    Bye bye x
  • Preston had 79 at the Valley for the league cup game this season and 61 of those were from the London and District Preston Fans in exile seeking advancement in a better part of the county Group.

  • Sheff Utd will come good
  • I bet he won't even say Solly.

I'm going to wee all over Preston now.
  • It makes Charlton...Charlton! There are great days, 7000 at Fulham and always selling out the locals etc. Selling out at home next week in LEAGUE ONE, it all goes hand in hand with 200 at Newcastle or 453 at Hartlepool! Wouldn't have it any other way...although if i might add, i personally love away games...but to any northerners reading, I live in London so there is a lot to do, there are 1000's of clubs and bars and restaurants, and well...civilisation. So im proud to say a lot of us choose that over Rochdale vs Charlton on a tuesday, it makes Charlton, Charlton.
  • 4th best away support in the league, good news that
  • That table's not right Rothko. It shows us in first place. We all know that the League One table now is only shown from 2 downwards.
  • Oh, I was under the illusion that your away support was the most important thing?

This makes no sense, what so anything above London has no civilisation get real son, I have had better nights out in Manchester/Liverpool than London!
