  • I don't know why people think they have the right to go on the pitch especially at an away game. If you look at the invasion it stopped the players going over to the fans who stayed in the stand. I have watched the videos & people are shouting "get off the pitch". It also didn't look good on Sky Sports !

For some reason most peolple on here seem to disagree !

    not me, I agree totally.

  • siddddarrrrnnnn
  • You are kidding me greenster did it stop them at reading ? Did it stop stoke year before last ? The players came back out when they had found out the wednesday score and the jobsworth at carlisle allowed them. after 6 years of utter shite I think it was a massive relief and celebrations of joy but as per normal Charlton fans turning on their own it's pathetic. Like nolly said if his prediction happened Saturday I guarantee it would happen again at the valley
  • There really feel like there are some who think it's their right to get on the pitch against Hartlepool or Wycombe
  • im gonna take a corner

I am 100% behind peaceful celebratory pitch invasions.

it's the word "invasion" that's causing all the fuss, it just sounds too strong & troublesome

couldn't we have a celebratory pitch encroachment?
  • There really feel like there are some who think it's their right to get on the pitch against Hartlepool or Wycombe
always a few who want to spoil it for the rest

  • I find it ridiculous, but when you logically think about it a governing body can not identify the differences between a promotion celebration and a pitch invasion for more nefarious means.

What justification is there for invading a pitch? I say this from the few times I've done it after promotions, and it really was some of the best footballing memories I have. But if the FA want to stop it, they can not make a value judgement before it happens, they have to ban them all. As someone pointed out with the Millwall scenario, when can you tell if something were to go wrong? By allowing it for promotions they open themselves up to huge problems, if not legal proceedings, if at a big match with many thousands more something were to go wrong. These things should be reviewed on a case by case basis, but it makes sense to warn clubs they are open to a fine if it happens again. It's just a shame it didn't happen first at home, though the club may not have wanted that due to the problems it may cause.

  • If we get automatic promotion again next season there will one almighty invasion - FACT.

Exactly what are they spoiling Large............I'm puzzled?
Two thirds of the pitch was covered at Reading (there must have been around 5,000 on the pitch at a guess)....so how exactly is that 'a few' spoiling it for the rest?
I agree that there shouldn't be an invasion for the Hartlepool game because the trophy will no doubt be presented and that is an official ceremony of sorts.

  • im gonna take a corner
    lol
  • much to my shame I wasnt at Carlisle but from the vidoes there were obviously a great many fans displeased with the pitch invasion for whatever reason. I can only assume that they wanted the players to come over so they could show their appreciation. With the pitch being invaded that wasn't guaranteed to happen. If a few gobby Carlisle fans had decided to make an issue of it the Police could have refused to let the team back out afterwards. Then that would have spoiled it for the majority. I can understand though the sense of joy, relief, euphoria etc that made people do it. Now it's been done an invasion against either Wycombe or Hartlepool would not have the same effect and would just be done for the sheer hell of it.
  • A lifetime ban from visiting Carlisle FC for those who invaded the pitch to pat the backs of the well deserved players is a risk worth taking if you ask me.
  • im gonna take a corner
Remember, one arm raised front post flick, two arms raised deep to the far post.

I'm guessing it would be all FA regulated matches, but what's to stop someone just turning up at The Valley and paying on the day? It's not like they'd have a Most Wanted list up in the office. Getting tickets on the door at most away games next season would still be doable too I reckon.

I think someone at Carlisle's view was that they weren't allowing Charlton to celebrate on their pitch; my understanding is that it wasn't down to the police and it wasn't a consequence of the pitch invasion. When the local police were challenged, they said it was up to Carlisle whether the team was allowed out again.

Separately, Carlisle's matchday arrangements were not up to the job, which the Met officers warned them twice. At one point the stewards tried to remove the groundsman, because they thought he was a Charlton fan. Some of our supporters got down the tunnel and into the dressing room. Nice for them, but it's pretty basic stuff to prevent that.

Gawd, imagine if that had happened this time last year at the height of Powelly's barren spell?
  • We are an odd bunch, for me it's just peaceful celebratory.. it wouldn't happen vs Millwall or Palarse as we're wiser than that.. it was a lot less than Readings' which is infact safer (obvious reasons)

If we WIN THE LEAGUE last minute I reckon there will be one, following Charlton over land and sea of course us FINALLY getting out this league in fashion will overwhelm you to want to get on the pitch and celebrate it with those who got us out of it.
  • But why is it OK to go on to the pitch and ruin a possible trophy presentation then?
  • I think there's two questions really , and we seem to be in agreement about the answers;

    1) is it acceptable for the FA to contact the club in some way when our fans break the rules (and the law I believe) and remind them of their responsibilities ? Yes, of course it is.
    2) is it right for them to impose a punishment for a minor one off infringement ? No, of course not.

As far as I can see they have only done 1 so far which I think is appropriate.
  • But why is it OK to go on to the pitch and ruin a possible trophy presentation then?
I think a few on here would say just to annoy you! You are so miserable.

I'm a happy bunny chripy, just don't think it's OK to ruin the players moment, cause you think it's a right to get on the pitch.
  • But they have warned us against any other fans coming on the pitch in the last 3 games....so if we win the title on Saturday or at Preston we are being closely watched one must assume...unfairly I think.
As I've already said re Hartlepool (because of the presentation) I agree there should be no pitch celebrations.
  • im gonna lift the trophy
