Oooh Ahh makes a good point there. We can't pull it off. You only have to read this thread to see that. If we can't do it properly, I'd rather not do it.
Can't believe 'return to the pre-Hilsborough' days has been mentioned. Jesus wept, have people not been watching football for the last 20 years - it happens up and down the Country every fooking season.
Players might get hurt? Do me a favour!! Has this ever happened? More likely to happen from thier own goal celebrations.
Let the players have there moment? Its our moment as much, if not more than theirs. We will be here loooooong after they have gone. Plus they seemed to love the invasion at Carlisle from my very close viewpoint.
It's illegal to go on the pitch, so don't do it? No one ever gone above 70mph on the motorway then. I hope not. Lighten up.
It's like the standing at Fulham all over again, an event that is a massive one off that people just have to moan about.
Lets us Charlton supporters who might be a bit more fun, a bit ladish, a bit of a naught side, have our once in a blue moon moment. It don't happen often.
I won't be going on at the Valley but cudnt care less if some do, like I did at Carlisle. Some of us are young at heart and if you can't be a bit silly at the footie, when can you!!
me, me, me
Did we have a pitch invasion at Wembley? No Did we have one at Blackburn? No Did we have one against Ipswich? No
Do people think their entitled to have there moment of glory, and be 'Lads' to their mates? Yep
As I've said, spontaneous fine, at Carlisle it was about the moment, but now its about people wanting their moment in the sun against Hartlepool or Wycombe, and this whole attitude that it's ok and their is entitlement to get on the pitch at the Valley.
The thing is, no one is wanting their moment in the sun. You're making assumptions and I presume that you're not reading anyone's posts. The general consensus on this forum is no more pitch invasions (this season ;-) )
I've met players on various functions and it's been a thoroughly enjoyable experience, but it will never come close to last Saturday celebrating with them at the heat of the moment. Hamer and Morrison loved it, some didn't and were left alone. A memory to last a life time, I'm gutted the youngster (being a lad in front of his mates, natch) missed out on it as he would've enjoyed it ten times as much!
I'm just blindly typing away, with making up stuff in my head George, I'm not the only one who's commented on this, but you knock yourself out and focus on my post.

I couldn't find where you said spontaneous is fine? I must have missed that bit.

Blimey

great turn out for norwich there at wednesday 10k+ and this was before footy got trendy and the crowds rocketed but there again i'm sure the transport links were easy and they all lived in london sheffield
If anyone runs on the pitch after all the warnings they deserve everything they will hopefully get. We all know that running on the pitch is not allowed so why do it? You can enjoy the occasion just as much in the stands.
How many times have you run on the pitch ?
If you haven't, how do you know you can enjoy the occasion just as much ?
It's a bit like those people at a party not drinking, saying I don't need a drink to enjoy myself & then stay bleedin' miserable all night long.
I'm sorry but I disagree. I ran on the pitch against Preston in '75, Carlisle in '81 and '86 and again last week.
Personally, I find it absolutely exhilarating to celebrate wildly, about every 7/8 years, when you have endured years of disappointment in between.
If you've followed your team up and down the country, week in week out. When you are one of the 5% of supporters who follow your team away most games.
When you get up at 05.30 to go to Halifax & Carlisle, then bloody well celebrate & celebrate in style.
Some of the best memories of my life, running on to celebrate promotion.
I've bought a load of BDL costumes and will be selling them in the West Stand car park before the game for easy unchallenged access to the pitch. The iPads are pretend but the beards are real.

Different thread, but point stands.
BlackpoolPreston most probably!Go to about 2.38, watch the guy behind the Sheff Wed player heading it in

londonsheffieldAlthough the fine for using the club hosepipe to fill it up might outweigh the fine for letting the fans invade the pitch.
We might also get Gazza turning up in his dressing gown carrying a chicken curry, a crate of lager and a fishing rod!!
