oh, I'm lightened up don't you worry. Sorry I have a different opinion than you, or a different view on things, but it would be boring if we all agreed on everything.

It was interesting to see how the club deployed the extra stewards yesterday according where the perceived "threat" was. So, almost shoulder to shoulder along the front of the North, hardly any extra in front of the East (no Stannah stair lifts means they were never going come down from there) and every few feet apart in the West.

But did they really need two stewards haunched down directly in front of the away dugout and one sitting on the fourth officials chair? (She looked tired, the poor thing - she'd just walked half the length of the pitch after all!)
  • Why them offy?
  • Didn't see any covering the upper north, now there is a plan for the Hartlepool game. Hand gliders at the ready.
  • Why them offy?
Because it was either that or cleaning.
  • I'm really not a killjoy, but the mere fact the club had to have so many stewards is not good, as it is money being spent on something other than the players. It won't be very funny if the club is fined for the idiot running on the pitch; much better for the club to spend money on strengthening the squad for next season.
haha you've got to be joking

don't worry you are not the only one thinking like that, it's just that we are in the minority.
With you on this one Large

  • Oh please, come on.

We've just won the title ffs - and someone comes on going on about the number of fecking stewards we had around the pitch?!

I pity you. Results wise it doesn't get any better than this season. Just enjoy yourselves - for once!

Did we actually employ 'extra' stewards to stop a possible pitch invasion, is that what's being suggested.........I'm not sure that's true, does anyone know the answer?
Incidently the fine meted out for a pitch invasion aint that much is it....a few thousand at a guess, does anyone know what it was likely to have been? Anyway, it didn't happen.
I'd like to ask you this Large.....let's suppose The FA weren't worried about pitch invasions....would you still be against them?
I'm curious to know, is it because it's an FA rule not to do it or simply because you are a monumental kiljoy of the first order and just don't like them full stop? If it's the latter.... then why?
I think they're great fun.....many a year since I've done one mind you, but thoroughly enjoyed them looking back on the few occassions I've celebrated on the pitch along with countless thousands of fans for countless thousands of clubs all over the world, it's part of football heritage and tradition.
I know several thousand of us Addicks went onto The Valley pitch after the 7-6 Huddersfield game in 1957 to call for Johnny Summers to be brought out to the directors box....what a thoroughly loutish lot we were that day....disgusting behaviour......you'd have been beside yourself with rage Large........FFS!!!

  • A score if you come on from the home end at Preston on Saturday SoundAs.

A few years back I'd have taken you up on that!

  • I think it is silly, as supporters we want to celebrate with the team on gaining promotion as CHAMPIONS! I see no wrong in allowing us on the pitch to do so. Maybe if are game was against mill wall I could see the sense in not allowing us. If you watch the Reading game the stewards opened the gates to allow the supporters on what will the FA do about that? Get the stewards sacked? Ban all the supporters that entered the pitch? The FA are a bunch of c**ts that have no passion or realisation of what it feels like to support a winning team. If you agree or disagree is up to you, I am sure no one will force the descion on you.
  • I think a pitch invasion at your home ground is acceptable.

To do it at an opponent's ground is disrespectful. Just think how you would feel if next season we've got a load of Blackburn or West Ham fans invading our pitch to celebrate promotion. Would those like Soundasapound be applauding then?

When you invaded to ask for Johnny Summers people had a modicum of respect and self-discipline and society was nowhere near as litigious.

As ever an irresponsible minority act up so the innocent majority suffer.

We saw with the Sankofa fiasco a few seasons back that the authorities hate Charlton. Compare and contrast with the attitude to West Ham and Tevez where a season or more later a grudging fine was imposed by which time it was way too late for Sheffield United.

Why give them the ammunition to slaughter us? They're already blaming our club for events under Carlisle's jurisdiction!
  • Jesus wept.

Wouldn't bother me one little bit Jimmy...in fact I'm pretty sure I've seen several invasions by away fans to celebrate a victory at The Valley....though I'll admit I can't remember exactly who any of them were.....though Liverpool when they went up from the old second division under Shanks springs to mind.
As for our fans at Carlisle I don't think the Carlisle fans minded....after all, they're used to seeing us celebrating promotion!

I'm pretty sure the stewarding has always been OTT at the end of the season.

The old bugger only went and did it.

Lancashires finest preventing the away fans getting onto the pitch - and there was Soundas casually being let on by a steward next to the dug outs.

He even has the audacity to stand there, both arms aloft waving at the Addick fans and was then kindly let back in the stand by the same steward.

I reckon he paid the steward £10 to let him walk on, knowing that you'd be paying.
  • LOL....the look on your face back at The Sumners pub when you coughed up....it was a picture.
Made my weekend K ....what a bloody laugh!
  • Saw Soundas giving large on the pitch. Was pishing my self laughing and even better when I spoke to Addickted after the game.

    Top Blag
  • More detail needed please.
  • After the Charlton players had come over to the away end and were walking back to tunnel CP was waving and applauding the fans on his own. As CP turned back Soundas, who must have been sitting in the main stand, strolled out on the the pitch by the half way line. He waved to the away end for about 10 - 15 seconds then walked off. The Steward even opened the gate for him to allow him back into the stand.
  • Why does he always sit by the dugout?
  • Why does he always sit by the dugout?
So he doesn't have to shout at Powell when he wants a substitution made, of course!
  • He goes where he wants
