  • I wont forget the passage of play when Yann was bundled off the ball towards the dug out and received treatment off the pitch whilst Kettle waved play on. For the next minute we only had EIGHT!

THEY LITERALLY THREW HIM BACK ON THE PITCH.

No wonder he lay in a heap for about 2 minutes after the final whistle' he must have run miles for the cause especially the second half. A true warrior.
Yes. Kettle just let it go on. I wanted our physios to drag Yann back on the field just to get the game stopped. :-)
  • great result. had a promotion look about. shitting myself for the last half hour. didn't think were going to do it but shouldn't of doubted what was one of the finest defensive displays of the season. it looked like the remaining 9 warriors on the pitch would have died for the cause. the 603 fans that were there were the proudest fans in the country at the final whistle, the players and chris powell showed there appreaciation at the end and i was thanking him more for being a total legend of a manager and a person.

    nearly there, nearly there.

It was one of those games when the supporters were truly a part of the occasion. Here are a couple of snaps of the scenes after the final whistle. The Oldham fans cleared off quickly leaving the 'stadium' to us, the players and SCP to celebrate a remarkable victory together.

That'll be at Home and Away then. No worries Oohaa........the gallant 603 gave the lads a shout on your behalf yesterday!
  • glad they did deadred...... although couldn't hear em on the radio

as usual, i suppose you had to be there !!
  • For a change yes, I'm not just a plastic premiership away day fan.............(puts tin helmet on), didn't you read my match report above?
  • very good to read and i appreciate the report

just some gaps and paragraphs would make it easier to read but keep up the good work
  • No probs glad you managed to get through it. I'll try and keep it in 'Cat sat on the mat' format in future whenever that may be.
  • After Captain Hollands was red carded, who skippered the side ....?

I thought Morro had the armband Oggy but stand to be corrected.
  • Thanks, Deadred.

Hadn't seen it mentioned, that's all.

Great atmosphere at the match but as I have a broken leg and walk with a stick and the Lad now walk with a stick they gave us disabled seats which was between our supporters and the Oldham kiddies, so we were away from the singing and found it hard to join in. Won't make that mistake next Saturday.
  • A couple of points. Great report from Deadred. The tactical change to 3-4-1 when down to nine men was inspired. Taylor in the middle of a three man central defence, with Wiggins and Solly as wing-backs, allowed us to see out the last 20 really well. Well done CP.

Thought Cort was man of the match, won every header and made a number of blocks.

Oldham's ground is falling apart. Why did they squeeze us into the corner when there was plenty of space not used? Surely there was no need for 2 fences, a no-mans land and an empty block as segregation? Happy to miss going there for a few seasons. They could do a Stockport judging by their facilities.
  • Friday I wasn't really up for going, plus I'd booked a stupidly early train up.

Obviously I am very, very glad to have made the trip up now. The defence were superb, and one moment of real quality made the difference.

Where were the sweet chili chicken pies this year though?!
  • Yep Morro took over the armband
  • I have read some but not all of the other posters on this topic.

I reckon 7 points from 5 games we are up as our GD is better than Wednesday. 8 points we are there without a doubt.
It's Easter so lets sing Hallelujah, Hosanna and come on you reds, get in there, onwards and upwards
  • We need 1 more win and a draw

You know you're in League One when the other team are sponsored by Skoda.

I shall miss this sort of thing!
  • Amazingly emotional game at Oldham...yes the football wasn't good (apart from a fantastic goal) but the way the lads stuck together and battled was a huge credit to them. The Referee was a disgrace but this made the result even more impressive.
Well done Charlton, it's great to see a team again that are playing for the shirt and the fans.
Lets get this promotion thing signed and sealed now!
