edited April 2012 in General Charlton
i am just so dissapointed with the atmosphere that was not created today second half especially, started off terrific atmosphere first half, until the dissallowed goal then it just went dead,we are top of the league with points to spare and still dont sing, orient outsung us second half, how embarrassing,i fought for charlton since selhurst days and then our return, cant believe how quiet we were, north stand let us down, and im one of them, why doesnt the drummer beat his drum when its quiet, poor show, nerves or not, does anyone remember the ipswich play off semi, that was support.lets hear your excuses!!!

  • singing bunch need to be nearer the away fans, feels like we are singing to noone all the way in the north upper

  • I don't know any other clubs that have their noisy section in an upper tier.
  • Loved Ipswitch with the roof off of the West I now sit in West upper but no one ever sings around me, I try and pipe up quite often but never get anyone around me singing just a few funny stares!!!!!! That's why I love going away quality.

noone will leave the north upper and we can't move them nearer for security reasons/policing costs though so no way around it really

    .
  • top first post there dartonion.......
  • you're welcome
  • I might be wrong but at highbury wasn't arsenals main singing section in the north bank upper tier? Probably why it was called the library.
  • I didn't think the singing was that bad yesterday?
  • I am in Upper West and a group of us there sing but hard to get things going. Don't care though, will always sing. Second half was a bit flat yesterday but I put it down to nerves (which we don't need creeping in).
'valley Floyd Rd' seems to get sung less and less which is a great shame.
Upper North sound great to me in BlockP so more of same lads! COYRs

  • I didn't think we were great but Hamer and Euell both wrote on twitter about the great support yesterday
  • Ben Hamer‏ @BenHamer21

Good Result today! Support was right behind us from the off! #cafc Great to see my old team Reading nail the Hammers aswell.. Great result!

    Real jason_ euell‏@jasoneuell

Great result for the Addicks 2day. 3 more pts and a step closer. 7 to go and still a lot of hard work to get the job finished. Great backing from the fans as well... #CAFC

I think it was the Clock End.

The atmosphere was great against Brentford when we had singing in the West Stand but people won't move there because the season tickets are so much dearer! If we ever built a South-East Corner that would improve the atmosphere but we're years away from that! Before the Covered End was rebuilt the atmosphere was top notch.

As for Hamer and Euell, I think they're both being polite!

The East and North-East corner got some chants going today, more of the same please.
  • Upper North sing a song than the song dies out to just a mumble
  • North Lower converted back to a terrace would probably help a lot; taking the roof of the South would also help as it just seems to have great accoustics.
  • Think the support was ok yesterday just think the supporters are getting nervous and tense as we're so close , when we make it the Hartlepool game will be electric

There is a small group of 4-5 of us that do sing in block H, but as siad it is hard when you're a little island of noise in a sea of quiet. But yesterday we had a fella sat up behind who was up for it, it made a bit of difference.

i was in the east stand during the powercut match and when people got moved to the north lower it seemed to get noisier.
  • if the east and west were to join in then it would be nosier but its always sounded like a funeral even when i used to sit in the east when we was in the prem!

Shouldn't have to though should they, very few grounds if any have all 4 sides singing, supporters singing behind the goal has been going on for years hence the famous "ends" that have been formed.

Not only do we need more singers in the North we need better songs.

Why do we have to copy other clubs?
  • who else sings it slowly?

  • i think its pretty good
  • i think its pretty good
Trust me it sounds terrible , worse than the noise of the thermos flasks opening in the west stand.
  • like i said i think it sounds good
  • ZzZZz
  • If your in the middle of it singing it , it probably sounds ok , listen to it from anywhere else in the ground and it comes across as a poor mans Spurs , its like the whole of the North stand are winding down for bed.
