So, get 12 points from 7, and the margins of error for the chasing pack is so small, they can't afford draws let alone a defeat. Chill out some of you.
can't see where 12 points are coming from, we wont win all our remaining home games. We look dead on our feet. Bury, Rochdale & Colchester could be very costly.
I can see how you might feel hard done by though, not by the penalty decision or the sending off but by other 'general play' decisions which I have to say, surprised me. AceT
Well, nail on head. Respect what you say though, because you are are at least trying to engage us in proper discussion.
Hear that the Neanderthal Massives are giving it large on your board. Well, there's a surprise.
Was surprised by that, but Also thought Wednesday would muller Walsall and didn't, and City would bash Stoke. Football at this point in the season will throw up weird results.
True i fancy us to do it with two games to spare, this team has bollocks, not overly keen on the two new loan players but bar that i think this team is far better than weds and united
Can we have different threads for people who went to the game and the "Sounds crap merchants" when given views on a game. Getting p****d off with people moaning about views heard off a radio report.
Seemed slightly disjointed in the first half. Perhaps not overly surprising given the team contained 5 changes from what has been the established starting X1, albeit only one change from the team that started the previous game.
Not many chances in the first half. Huddersfield scored their penalty. Decent save from Hamer.
Second half, well everything hinged on the sending off. I understand that Russell has admitted fault for his red card. I would hope that his previous performances in a Charlton shirt have built up a reservoir of goodwill that will see him not overly criticised for the performance in one game.
Following the red card, we played with spirit, energy, passion and pride in the shirt. Yes, we may not have won, but if we play with those attributes for the rest of the season we will be fine.
Wiggins (Man of the Match) seemed to be inexhaustable, Solly appeared unbeatable and Hamer made a few nice saves.
Two games on from Scunthorpe, the gap to third has narrowed from 9 to 8 points. Big deal. We are still going up and we still going up as Champions.
Huddersfield seemed to take a very physical approach and then be keen to go to ground if anything similar was done to them. I had not expected this from a Simon Grayson team and was slightly disappointed.
Judging by the celebrations at the end from the home fans, you would have assumed they had been promoted. Play offs beckon for them whatever they may think.
Referee not great, he appeared to favour the home side.
My god, if they play with the amount of guts and bollocks they showed today, then you "Sound likes Merchants" will be hearing Mr Jackson picking up the league one title in a few weeks time.
Only thing is that we don't change our tactics as we change players , we were playing our hoofball ( mostly hamer ) with Paul Hayes playing - I can't remember a header he made
Shame people can't express concern without getting jumped on.
We've picked up four points from five games, and if that is repeated in the next five, then the end of season is clearly going to be a lot tighter than everyone thought a few weeks ago.
Haven't seen the last three performances so can't comment specifically on that, but in the bigger picture the only real concern I have had is the lack of players in our main starting eleven who have never really played a full 40-50 game season before.
I'm sure deep down the majority still think we will be ok, but if we are going to go up, let's at least finish this tail end off in an enjoyable fashion eh ?
Want to see Kerm, Hayes and BWP start next match vs Orient. We're at home and got to go at them, Kerm in behind them two should cause a shed lod of problems.
I'm thinking we'll finish 2nd, because form means alot in this league.. but confident the team can pick up, aslong as Russell don't start again, don't need them tackles when we're top of the league ffs
It was a match beyond belief, the referee got one decision right and that was the penalty, other wise if he had played in blue and white it woulod not havre been inaccurate.
Russell had almost an excellent game, but his mistake up field resulted in him giving away the penalty and he is too experienced to have reacted in the way he did, although a tv view would be appreciated.
Although neither side fashioned many opportunities it felt that we had much the greater share of play, but Huddersfield always looked dangerous in our third of the field.
Our team were superb in adversity, play wit this intensity for the rest of the season and the only way we will play them next season will be if they win the play offs.
" Four points from five games " is what worries me too, AFKA and it's obvious we can't afford to continue in this vein .
I was at today's match and echo much of what others have already stated.
OK - I always support my team with my heart, not my head but after the final whistle, I couldn't bring myself to talk about the game for a full 60 minutes.
The antics of the Huddersfield players feigning injury at every tackle made, in light of the Yorkshire "referee"s ( who was a disgrace to his profession ) blue & white striped specs was appalling and as someone said earlier, I too was amazed at Grayson's policy. I fully endorse SCP's words regarding the mugging of Waggy & the lack of action taken - this was the worst of several incidents in the first half which went unpunished. Then the sending off and leniency afforded the 2 stripeys involved was the final straw. Unbelievable.
Of course I don't enjoy watching my team lose , but this was not merely the loss of 3 points. This was a travesty compounded by an official whose performance should be examined closely by the powers that be ( yeah, right !) Our lads did not let us down ( OK - Russell has rightly held up his hands for his part in the defeat) and played on the whole with great heart and energy whilst missing an ever present colleague up front and their motivational captain . A draw would have been a fair result indeed and a well deserved point taken back to SE7. The manner of the defeat is impossible for me to swallow even 6 hours after the pillock with the whistle finished the task of making 15,000 Town supporters very happy.....His mission for the day appeared to have been successful & he will be remembered by the 1,000 Addicks who made the journey for a very long time.
I shall miss next Saturday's game , to my regret but pray that 3 more points have been added to our total before I make the next journey north heading for Oldham. Please get behind the boys - they deserve your support.
Posting after having been at the game and read all this thread
Not felt as pissed off at a ref's performance like this for some time. The penalty was fair enough. The 1st half challenge on Waggy was a disgarce and a red card, what did that clown give a drop ball.
The challenge on Russell was about the 4th or 5th bad one in a row that had no card. Did not seem him react but assumed that is what he did by Novak's reaction. Thought all would be ok as both would get a red card, not with that berk around.
We will be fine, lead is more than sufficent and today's performance was fine, very difficult with 10v12

Decent support from the travelling Addicks.
Can see us finishing second, gladly take of course ...
Not forgetting Mooney and Spring.
I just hope we want it as much as they will.
Tottenham were 13 points ahead of Arsenal a few games back.
Now they are 2 points behind them!
Anything they can do we can do better!

Shit happens and today it was in black

No great shakes in my book....
