Reports coming in that after Russell retaliated, an opponent came straight in and whacked Russell.
If so that surely had to be a straight red ......and how did the officials miss that?
Anyone at the match have a view?
It's all on the OS, Oggy:-) Photo of Lee Novak shoving Russell. How the officials missed it, heaven only knows. If the 4th official had a useful role with a video monitor, instead of telling managers to stay in their boxes, he'd have been off too.
Not too sure it would have changed the result though. And come 5th May, not too sure I'll be bothered about it.
I'll do a more detailed how-dya-do tomorrow if anyone's interested? (I know how irritating/shite it can be when you've lost). But basically, I expect your lads to play more 'football'. I thought you tried too hard to 'out physical' us and it didn't work because we weren't going to be bullied today. The ref didn't like your style too much either.
In the first half I thought you looked very well organise and feared a second half reshuffle might create more of a threat but in fact you couldn't find the right rhythm. Affectively your 'game' ended and the chance of getting anything was spoilt by the sending off, which ended the game as an even contest. Too very even teams albeit with different styles of play. When we're both in the Championship it'll be interesting to see which approach/style is most affective.
Just to be clear, my loans comment isn't a dig at Russell, he is one of those loans who I believe is playing for a contract once he is released by Preston. His effort can't be faulted tbf.
So it's a dig at the other loanee who scored on Tuesday?
Loans in general. It can't be good for team morale when a team starts having too may loan players ahead of contracted players (was Green dropped today for poor attitude?)
We were not good at all but Huddersfield weren't any better. The game probably would have been 1-1 if it wasn't for the ref so. One problem I have is that we are still becoming a hoofball team when teams know how to play against us. We didn't use hayes well at all today because the ball was always on his head. Our support was as shite as the performance until Russell got sent off but ten we really got going. Still very confident of promotion despite recent performances.
How that thug Kay didn't get at least a yellow for taking out Wagstaff in the 1st half. Then the same player went straight through Russell from behind.
Speaking for myself I'd welcome your more considered view. You're a credit to your club, unlike some of those twonks who come on here from Sheffield Massive. Not everyone agrees, but personally I learn a lot about my team from the thoughts of intelligent fans of other clubs.
From the commentary, doesn't sound like either side played as they can, and have done.
You've got Massive to come to your place, right? Do them, won't you!
When was greens attitude ever in question, just interested where you heard this ,if you have inside information . Greens winning attitude has never been a problem. What's the point of bringing in loan players who can't last 60 mins . Chris Powell had said before that he hasn't got time for players to get fit they need to hit the floor running then he signs a player on loan who's not fit? He's not better than green or edvina , I can see this upsetting a settled squad who have played for each other through thick & thin.Hayes can't be happy to come back only to get subbed .
Seen us play a lot worse this season and win. Effort wise, I cannot knock it. However the penalty is spot on due to Russell panicking after losing the ball on the halfway line.
The sending off, I did not see exactly what he did, but Novak's reaction to shove him in the chest, is not the reaction of a bloke who things Russell is innocent.
Game wise, a tight game in which neither keeper did a lot. Play like today for the next 7 games, and we will win at least four of them.
Thought we were the ones who got bullied today. You didn't see the best of us not by a long chalk. Also we are missing key players in Jackson and Kermorgant. That's the excuses done.
Fair play to you for the support. Far louder than the Massives even with half the numbers! But you need to stop that pathetic Palace dirge....embarrassing!
Town deserved to win just about, whatever but it wasnt pretty Charlton are going up so chill - it wasnt a bad game - Charlton full backs are quality. To be honest I can only remember 2 Addicks chances- one in the last minute whn the black guy headed back across the face of goal
The ref let alot go and obviously missed Kayes challenge and Novaks shove but Charlton gave as much. Im worried about how defensive we seem to have become after taking the league.
Anyway back home with a couple of bottles of Timothy Taylor Landlord and brought up a bottle of home made Parsnip wine from the cellar that I have matured for 18 months to enjoy with the ordered takeaway whem MotD is on See if I can stay awake for football league show.
Anyway well played Town, well played CAFC See you next season hopefully
the result was unfortunately what i expected and the performance sounded ok but ok might not win matches so it is squeaky bum time cos we are not the fluid machine that was strolling the league up to a few weeks ago
the freaks that wanted yann rested got that via an injury and the charltonised hayes turned up
two of our best 3 yann and jj are missing and we are incredibly weak without them playing
the goal difference factor will only come into affect if we finish level with wednesday if hudders and sheff utd catch us i expect them to have surpassed us on GD
imo we look like we have the capabilites to blow this but we should realistically have enough in the bank to sneak across the line ONE AIM
i just hope i dont have to read ......at the beginning of the season - we'd have taken a 6 point lead with 6 games to go - we'd have taken 3 points over 3rd spot with 3 games to go - we'd have been happy going in to the last game of the season with a chance of automatic promotion if results go our way ... yes of course we fucking would but when we were 17 points clear of 3rd spot with 12 games to go no i wouldn't have taken where we are now
anyway champions 50% runners up 35 % play off nightmare 15%

How was Huddersfield? I didn't go, so want your view on the game, is that possible?
I was at the match unfortunately. The penalty was fair and it was Russell's fault as he lost the ball on half way then ran back and made a poor tackle that the Hudd player made the most of it. I could not see the sending off but the ref was very biased and let a number of Hudd tackles go that really needed a yellow or even red card. It was a very scrappy game which neither side deserved to win. I don't understand what CP put Stephens on L side when he had Cook on the bench. Hayes & WP was not as good as Yann & WP but why can't we play the ball on the ground
Even this pessimistic supporter still thinks we will finish in the top 2
So, get 12 points from 7, and the margins of error for the chasing pack is so small, they can't afford draws let alone a defeat. Chill out some of you.
sorry to disappoint and i understand that my opinion is worth a lot more than others but unfortunately i couldn't convince the wife that the 6 year old would enjoy 3 hours in a car to huddersfield and that she'd be fine with the 3 others including the 5 week old baby
I'd like to see us try and play some football again like Stevenage a few weeks back. Today in the first half Hamer always aimed for N'Guessan who isn't that strong in the air, there's not much creativity in this side at the moment past few games it's all been up in the air.
just got in. not too disheartened. didn't get any of the decisions our way today, wasn't to be. we didn't threaten too much but neither did they.
However, pretty angry with RUSSELL. Lazy and stupid challenge to give away the penalty and even more stupidity to get himself sent off. Don't think he should play again this season. STEPHENS however was excellent when he came on. We had ten men but with him picking up the ball from the back we dominated possession. Get him back in the team.
Just seen the red card. Disgraceful tackle on Russell, and then a red card assault on him by Novak.
In order to see the Russell kick the ref must have seen the other two things. Very very poor refereeing, which of course could be remedied if 4th officials were allowed to do something useful with video playback. But we can't have that, can we? Referee egos must be protected at all costs.
"I've seen it. I've just asked the referee to have a look with me in his dressing room.
"They always say to come in half an hour later and I've done that, and then he's told me he's not allowed to look at it because of rules and regulations by his seniors.
"It's a disgraceful tackle," he added. "I'm not here say people should have been sent off, but if we're talking about trying to stamp out dangerous tackles and make the safety of players paramount, then when everyone sees it, they will see that it's not right."
It'll be interesting to see highlights on TV later because I did think the ref did us one or too favours. Strangely we normally have to endure some right knobs for match officials at the Galpharm but this guy seemed fairly balanced in comparison to most others. I can see how you might feel hard done by though, not by the penalty decision or the sending off but by other 'general play' decisions which I have to say, surprised me.
It does 'balance out' throughout a season but now we're at the 'business end' it seems all the more frustrating.
What was the atmosphere like from both sets of fans?
I disagree with Smithy - our support was reasonably good for the number there, the younger element kept singing and the rest of us joined from time to time.
The atmosphere was good until after the sending off when it became a little heated.
We weren't too bad and showed a lot of guts when we were down to 10 men. Stephens made a difference. Hayes was poor and we really missed kermorgant.
Now to the incidents. The ref was one of the worst I have ever seen. Yes Russell was stupid but (as the tv has subsequently confirmed) the challenge on him by kay and the shove by Novak(?) were equally as bad so how one was a red and the others yellow is beyond me. Also Kay's challenge on Waggy was a clear red. In both incidents the home crowd went quiet because they feared the worst.
Their pen probably was one but later on the ref missed a clear handball in the area and Hollands being dragged to the ground in the last minute. Truly shocking and Chris Powell was very restrained in his comments.
If we show that commitment we will have no problem getting the points we need but I do want to see Jacko and Yann back asap.
Missing two very key players today..........Jacko & Kermt. Both have a really huge influence......get those two back in the side ASAP and we'll be OK I reckon.
Totally agree. Some pieces in the jigsaw were missing today and they would could have made the difference. There was very little between the two quality sides. We were so much better than against Scunthorpe. I was proud of how we battled with 10 men and had them kicking out for corners. They were wary of us no doubt about it. We didn't have much on goal but neither did they. A tough fought win for Hudds, but a draw would have been fairer. If we play like that we will win more than we lose. We are going up, just not sure when we will pass the post. Many reasons to be cheerful. More please Mr Powell.

Agree that being struck by a player off the ball (and after the game had been stopped) would warrant a red also.
That is violent conduct.
