Questions for Powell

  • Right the point is....

If we are capable of coming out of the blocks at ht 4-0 down and scoring 2 goals restricting them to no chances in the second half....then we are capable of starting the game like it.

    It's complacent

    .
Yes his my bum chum. Pratt.
Maybe he can teach you to spell then.
    yawn
  • Give it a rest Nicholas I can deal with this in a more eloquent way lol
  • Questions for Powell:

    - how does it feel to be 10 point clear?

    - how does it feel to massively exceed expectations in your very first managerial job?

    - where do you get your suits from?

    Think that covers it.
Apart from 'do you think Obama can win the election?' and 'should we bomb Iran?', yep. I reckon you've got it covered, BBClaus!
  • We lost a game fella. Deal with it.
  • #Strong black coffee for a Mr Offit
  • Choice makes some valid points, only one sub which I assume was forced on him, he really should have thrown Clarke on with at least 15 minutes to go.

I'm concerned about Jackson - he doesn't look fit to me...
  • Maybe thats the problem lose a game and deal with it. We didnt after tuesday so surely some constructive criticism is valid without smart arse remarks.
  • Nothing wrong with this thread. Valid points.

Unless we want to be like liverpool and our king can do no wrong

  • Jeeeze . Other fans must be pissing themselves laughing at some of the shite written on this thread !
  • We lost a game fella. Deal with it.
I think it is Powell who needs to do that, Off-it. We're not paid to ''deal with it''. He is. And I am confident that he will.

Meanwhile , after such a great season we are allowed to have a few extra drinks tonight while we wallow in misery (as opposed to most Sat nights this season when we have had a few extra drinks to celebrate). And as long as we go to bed sloshed, perhaps the result doesn't matter too much !

  • I agree that with 20 mins to go we seemed to have hit the wall, throw a forward on & take a chance, at 4-2 another goal would probably have given them the jitters.
  • If the ref had given that stonewall pen we'd be sitting here now revelling in a great comeback. However once we had pulled two back there was still over 30 minutes left but we didn't show enough urgency, it was as if they thought they could play as normal and still pull it back. I'd have stuck Morro up there with 15 to go and have lumped it up there at every opportunity. Oh well, it is how we respond now that really matters.

I havnt got a problem losing a game, it's the manner of our performances. That's 3 in a week, one good performance against chesterfield doesn't paper over the cracks and the fact is something needs changing now for the last 2 months
  • Choice, I think is it fair to say that starting the second half 4-0 down it is easier to take the game to the opposition than starting the first half at 0-0. I wanted to see us start confidently but sensibly after Tuesday night. A shot from some distance and a breakaway goal changed the day. If we'd not conceded the first goal we may well have gone on to score first and won confortably.

I don't think the subs were that much of a problem. I'm guessing he wanted to see which, if any, players tired and guard against a late injury. We looked dangerous with pace and Yann winning headers, I don't see how there was much to be gained from any of the players that were on the bench.

Just my view, of course, and I feel no compunction to agree with everything Powell does, but, assuming Haynes went off with an injury of some kind, I don't disagree with anything that Powell did today.

Hamer, however I do feel a little critical of, but that's another story.

OK, I give up. You win.

    *walks away, shaking his head.
  • Oh well, it is how we respond now that really matters.
That applied today after the Colchester defeat, let's hope we're not saying that again next Saturday night.

Don't get me wrong we've had a great season and we've had our fair share of luck at times but in Charlton style I can see them gloriously throwing it away unless they are more on the ball from the first minute

It's my guess that Keith curle watched the game against Colchester and told his players to get at us early because we are slow starters, we have to learn to deal with that if we going to get promoted and stay in the championship

It was only a matter of time =D

  • Personally, as we lost momentum after 70 or so minutes I would have gone for it, moved to 4-3-3 and brought on Clarke. Or given up the ghost and given a couple of players on the bench a run out. CP's use of subs does refelct that he is a young inexperienced manager and hopefully he will learn as he has from previous situations this season.

Ps before it is asked I have not managed a professional, amateur or schools team but am a dab hand at Football Manager

Finally we have plenty of time to get over this blip,it needs to be sorted but we do n ot need to panic

  • I suspect he held back the subs because, having had the Waggy substitution forced on him, none of the others on the bench were "impact" subs and he probably thought goals were more likely to come from the personnel out there.

There is no game Tuesday this week so hopefully the "walking wounded" will be back to par next week.
  • why did you go and sit down near where the ht argey bargey was in the NWQ , or were you there first half (that's a question for choice or nicholas not powell)

or a question for powell do you think questions should be asked about how we were set up today and how we performed or are you too good to be questioned or is that question questionable
  • We were poo, I think the team and manager have earned the right to be poo

But I don't understand why he didn't make the change in the 5 mins after the pen was not awarded

I wouldn't ever say that cracks have been papered over as that is complete bollox

The response in the 2nd half was half hearted but it showed that we can hit teams when we try

    Personally I ain't panicking but that's cos I am a hard bstd and not a pussy 8+)

  • i think the changes weren't made cos clarke is pony ..... SCP should have kept benno !
  • i think the changes weren't made cos clarke is pony ..... SCP should have kept benno !
After today i would recall Hayes .
  • Forget who's gone

I agree we played better build up play with Hayes but would you play him over Kermy because I wouldn't

Benson is not a league 1 player if you want to be top of the league I ain't saying Clarke is but Benson ain't

We should've had a loanee in imo to add to the top but there is still time

More concerned that haynes went off for no apparent reason , he didn't go down the tunnel
And hadn't moved enough to be injured or do we have another anyinsah on our hands

erm might be being a bit thick here but think we just lost our last 2 games!

  • Great thread
  • Yeah, he's shit. Sack him.
its a forum bloody hell can't you take a bit of critisism for the team when they deserve it
  • I can't believe people are on here arguing about stuff and having different points of view, any one would think this was a football forum ..... Hang on a minute.
