Interesting that Chris Solly won the Bromley Addicks Player of the Year vote , surely its too much to win the main prize in your first full season , would be an incredible achievement, i did vote for him , but there are so many contenders.
Didn't take notes so the other lifers there will have to fill in the gaps. Good to see Rudders22, Rothko, MIA, AFKA, MIA, JVL, Afternoon Delight, Drawnablank and plenty of other lifers there.
About 95 people there in total. New venue was very well liked and we were very well looked after by the staff. On show of hands at the end we'll be using this place again.
Raffle raised over £200 plus we got about 20 new or renewed memberships so the committee are all out for a curry next week will add this to the other funds we've raised to help the football club
Steve Dixon popped in to donate some fantastic stuff to the BA and CL auctions. Photos, posters, framed pictures, old Voice of the Valleys, loads of Valley party stuff so big thanks to him. Got some nice Squeeze - Down in the Valley posters if anyone wants them.
No news on the new shirt. Powell knows but wasn't telling. The home shirt is red and there was a discussion at the end about what should be the correct shade of Charlton red. CP didn't pick the shirt.
Of course meeting started on Notts Co game. CP said he couldn't repeat what was said at half time but did say the message was to not concede again. 4 was bad enough but it was not to go to 5 or 6. Haynes has a hamstring injury and is out for 2 to 3 weeks. didn't use subs not because it was a case of "you got us into this mess, you get us out of it" but because he wanted to keep the balance.
37 and a half games the players have been great for him. one very very bad half which he never expected to see.
Yann, he nearly didn't sign him. Had 72 hours to make a decision. Knew of his quality from LCFC but at Leicester Yann hadn't mixed with the other players. Yann has done this at Sparrows Lane and other players love him. He and mrs Yann very well settled so ignore Celtic rumours. Yann has a fantastic volley on him that we are yet to see. CP agreed that we use the ball to his head too much sometimes.
The ball has fallen to Yann at leg height on at least two occasions and he's decided to pass instead of shoot. I agree that there has only been half a bad performance this season.
CP was asked about ball boys. He said only really Col U that is has been a problem and he's had a chat with the guy who organises.
Appears only five turned up for KO and there was no time to brief them. Like to use academy as part of getting used to being at stadium pitch side.
Asked about have we signed anyone yet for next season CP said "next question"
On CP himself it was noticeable how different he was in himself. Far more relaxed and comfortable compared to what he admitted was a rather weary and stressed CP last May. Was upbeat as you would expect. Cracked a few jokes and his usual huge grins but at the same time was very considered and articulate, just like Chris Powell really.
Might train up to Hudds. Done it twice and it's a good way to travel but not always practical. Do think a lot about travel arrangements.
Trip to Man Utd and City was very interesting. Fantastic facilities as you would expect. learnt a lot about layout of facilities but in terms of recovery and fitness they aren't doing much that we aren't. big difference is number of staff. man city take a 2nd coach to away games to cope with all the back room staff.
Asked about Ian Bishop's stamp on BWP and Waggy CP said that you have to expect that from a Keith Curle side. Warnock was the same that his teams always have "an enforcer" so expect the same from Curle, his former assistant. CP had a go at the ref for missing the four stamps/fouls. Accepted we lost fair and square. Said their keeper had a kick and punch at Waggy when he scored (one for the Waggy always dives and whinges brigade to ponder on maybe)
CP said a few players took time to cope with being at such a big (to them) club. Wiggins was one and Green is still getting used to playing at this end of the table for this type of club.
CP loves Chris Solly. Said he though he was always the better of two when compared with Jenkinson,
Got some nice Squeeze - Down in the Valley posters if anyone wants them.
Wish I could have gone - pleased it went so well.
Two questions.Henry.
1. Is CP really as great as I think he is?
his timekeeping could improve : - ) but he did say sorry but that he'd been at the training ground watching the academy players and speaking to parents.
Otherwise just a lovely bloke but we know that. Took time to chat to everyone and signed about 1000 signatures including some shirts I'll be auctioning. Like Parky but not like Pardew he talks to fans and answers questions on the same level. He tries to explain his reasoning and views rather than talk down to fans. Doesn't play the "I've played the game, you haven't card" but then again he got a round of applause for walking in the room. Does being a nice bloke make him a good manager? No, but he is a nice bloke. And he said he's coming back to Bromley next season.
Great new venue...very easy to get to...plenty of free parking, friendly and helpful staff plus very well stocked bar, not to mention the plush first-class fixtures & fittings. A very nice relaxing evening was had by one and all. I for one, will looking forward to the next meeting for the venue as well as the guests.

My recollection of the non-use of subs on Saturday was that he felt that at 0-4 we couldn't get back into the game. He said that although Newcastle did it against Arsenal it was very rare that this happened and his major concern was not to concede another goal and lose 2-5 or 2-6. His instruction to the team at half time was that they were not to concede again and it seems that this, rather than gambling on the faint possibility of gaining a point, was his principal reason not to change things. The team did play better in the second period and he also posed the question (rhetorically) who he would have taken off, as this would have upset the balance. He has therefore got the team to put the defeat down to a bad 45 rather than a bad 90. He was then asked whether he would change the side if a similar thing happened next Saturday and the impression I got was that although the same (or very similar side) will play on Saturday, if we falter again, he will not hesitate in making any changes. He pointed out that we still have a quarter of the season left so there is a lot to play for. (Mind you Colchester stopping Sheff Utd from taking 3 points last night still means we are 9 points clear.) CP was discreet (wouldn't say which players he was after pre-season as he was pleased with those he got to join the club - plenty of nods from the audience) but relaxed and, as Henry said, very friendly.
Can anyone expand on the plush first-class fixtures & fittings?
Snooker tables were excellent. Lost a pairs game with me and Powelly v Soundas and Covered End. Powell not much of a player tbh but still better than me.

Just waiting for Rothko to post his pic

Excellent venue.
How were you? Black top and ruck sack who left early?
