No club should be bigger than the competition that they play in .
If Rangers had not been relegated then this would have created a precedent for future financial mismanagement being potentially unpunished.
I suspect the SFL will be split between those like my favourite team Raith who will take a principled stance ( see above ) and those who will sense an opportunity of making money on the back of a lucrative fixture against the Gers .
In terms of safety ,I would be very interested how places like Stenhousemuir a ground I know slightly would cope with a home match and the risks associated with a massive club playing them .
I'm hoping the SFL get their act together and make Rangers start off in the 3rd division - but I'm sure some 1st div chairmen will vote with their pockets...........

That would be stupid as they will get Rangers in two seasons anyway.
In the interest of sporting integrity Rangers should start in the third division, that will make the SPL big wigs and Celtic sweat. Speaking of Celtic, who's silence is deafening, can anyone find title odds for them next season?

Congrats to Dundee if they've gone up.
Yep, congrats to Dundee if so, Rangers have to be punished, but its a bit like turkeys voting for xmas, I think some of them will regret their votes more than they think.

Last I saw you can get 1.07 on Betfair for them to win the title, better than putting it in the bank to be fair
I think 1st division makes more sense than the 3rd division when looking at the wide picture.
If you're a 3rd division team and you play Rangers 4 times a year, you're probably going to benefit a lot more than most clubs in Division 2. Not really fair surely?
That just sums up the whole problem of how they set up the SPL. For any business to have a reliance on one other business for nearly a third of their income, is about as poor a business model as you can get. Factor in one other business that provides nearly another third and you are going nowhere other than down if one/both are no longer there.
Lots of calls up there for a complete restructure. They'd be far less reliant if they went for an 18/20 team league. It would hurt in the short term, but a better model going forward as they get weaned off of two extra home Celtic/Rangers games.
Frighteningly, they may have left it too late for themselves and it could be a very bad generation for Scottish football (as if this one hasn't been bad enough).
The whole game of football in Scotland is on a death wish. They produced so many talented players over the years. Now nearly everyone who plays in the SPL is a foreigner and the national team is a disgrace and a mere shadow of the great days of Dennis Law and Dave Mckay Etc when it really was "Scotland the brave" and they were hard to beat. I think the SFA and the SPL are shooting themselves in the foot. Scottish football without Rangers will be so uninteresting and boring because rather than having a two horse race it will now be a one horse race. SPL Champions for 2013 Celtic SPL Champions from now to infinity Celtic unless common sense prevails. TV revenue will dwindle to nothing. It's sad but Bye Bye Scottish football. The only good thing is all those idiots and misfits who run the SPL and SFA will be without a job.

The SFA also seems to want newco #Rangers in Division One, arguing like SPL that TV deals will unravel if RFC in Division 3

Until then they'll have to be honoured and it's likely that by the time they need to be re-negotiated that Rangers will be back in the SPL.

Have sky declared their hand yet?
Motherwell gate receipts last season break down roughly as follows:
31 % Rangers
29 % Celtic
31 % everyone else
If that is representative across the other 10 clubs in the SPL... how many of them can really survive with a third off gate receipts and for how long?
