I've a feeling they were Lipazzaner horses, so presumably they were from Slovenia, which used to be part of Yugoslavia and maybe that was where the series was filmed?

Loved Round the Twist, all based on the books by Paul Jennings which were my favourite books as a kid. Also remember loving Strange But True with Michael Aspel!
