Was talking to a Palace fan about it the other day, and you're right..... depressing.orpingtonRED said:

Could buy us, the Valley, Sparrows Lane and have about 100m left over to invest in the team.1 -

It’s 20 years ago but the boot was on the other foot once upon a time, so we can live in hope.. (even if their administrations gave them a huge leg up in catching up, compared to how we have continued to show huge debts on our books which originated from our club’s bad decisions).orpingtonRED said:

Remember singing "We'll never play you again when we won 1-0 at Selhurst. It wasn't meant to be this way!1

It’s football. Swings and roundabouts…we’re probably due the next change around and we’ve already started our bit in making that happen6 -
Textor sold his share in Palace - so both they and Lyon could play in the Europa league and the same week he sells his Palace share - Lyon get relegated to Ligue 2 and doubt they will be in the Europa league next year! Lol!7

That was 2007. Had about three meetings (at Selhurst) since then- unless you want to count that 1-1 draw the Palace Academy, with Rak-Sakyi and Aneke scoring.Kap10 said:Remember singing "We'll never play you again when we won 1-0 at Selhurst. It wasn't meant to be this way!0 -

Got to enjoy this Palace bashing on talksport this morning.
They should be void of Europe for their shameful negligence of their administration.3 -
The Charlton will rise and the Palace will fall.letthegoodtimesroll said:Kap10 said:Remember singing "We'll never play you again when we won 1-0 at Selhurst. It wasn't meant to be this way!

Can’t see anywhere yet whether that gets Lyon dumped out of Europe too and so means Palace stay in. Looks like they’re appealing the relegation and would seem they’ve done a lot (mainly player sales) to try and satisfy the original decision in November. I’d assume that Textor’s financial windfall could also help.CAFC_boi said:Textor sold his share in Palace - so both they and Lyon could play in the Europa league and the same week he sells his Palace share - Lyon get relegated to Ligue 2 and doubt they will be in the Europa league next year! All that said, the qualifying rounds start in a couple of weeks and it will take 2 months for Woody Johnson to be cleared as “fit & proper”, so Palace should still be excluded anyway!!1 -

You have to give credit to somebody who porked Susanna Reid.

The 15th May 2005 can never be taken away from us.

You're right that Lyon won't lose their place, there's nothing that says you have to be in the top division to play in Europe (as far as I'm aware). If we'd somehow won the League Cup last year we'd be playing in Europe as well as the ChampionshipTelMc32 said:

It was a fantastic day and I, and I'm sure many others, will cherish the memory forever. Sadly, it is just a memory now. The longer the universe stays in its current state of disequilibrium the less relevant it becomes. Historically we are the bigger better club. We need to be doing better than them, that is the natural order of things.ElfsborgAddick said:The 15th May 2005 can never be taken away from us.5 -
UEFA are apparently going to be making their decision this evening, over whether to let Palace into Europe next season

You just know that they’ll be allowed to play in Europe . Let’s hope it’s in detriment to their league campaign .ForeverAddickted said:UEFA are apparently going to be making their decision this evening, over whether to let Palace into Europe next season

Not sure why the meeting takes so long.
Have they broken the rules - yes.
Is there a set punishment for that - yes.
Have they subsequently fixed the issue after the dates they needed to do so by - maybe but so what.5 -

I’m currently at the FSE ‘European Football Fans Congress’ in Malmö.
FSE stance, at least from Stuart Dykes is that palace shouldn’t be allowed through- as the rules were changed, they weren’t met and that you can’t retroactively make yourself ‘legit’/eligible just because you’ve now been threatened post fact.
hopefully that’s the view of UEFA12 -
Meeting and decision delayed until Monday - farcical really.5
-
They're doing everything in their power to go against their own rules, I'll bet6
-
Sky were saying earlier that if Palace were to be punished, they’d be demoted to the conference league which I previously understood they’d be banned from too due to another multi club ownership with. Danish side.
if the punishment is that they end up in the conference league, I think I’d rather they just stayed in the Europa as there’s a chance they’d actually win the bloody conference league and we can’t have that1 -
They cant stay in the Conference League though, because another one of their owners has ties with Brondby (Denmark), thats been the trouble, else they'd have dropped into that competition without much problem.JamAddick said:Sky were saying earlier that if Palace were to be punished, they’d be demoted to the conference league which I previously understood they’d be banned from too due to another multi club ownership with. Translation: give UEFA the weekend to invent a loophole.7

Has Textor sold his shares yet? - If not, the cynic in me says they're delaying like what the EFL did with kicking Reading out of League One season. The Red Robin said:Translation: give UEFA the weekend to invent a loophole.
Give Textor long enough to sell his shares within a "reasonable" time frame and they'll keep delaying the decision until they can just let Palace play in Europe.
I'm surprised Forest and Brighton aren't appealing this in their favour, as its messing their own summer business.1 -
Agree, Im so glad we got out when we did.....letthegoodtimesroll said:
The value atm is just being in the PL for one season and staying in it for the next season. Being in it for a decade is a liability if you don’t have anything tangible to show for itChris_from_Sidcup said:
Well yes, but they've had a bit more than a 'good season or two'. They've been in the PL for over a decade.letthegoodtimesroll said:
Or, it shows you how little they are worth. The value is being in the PL and the riches that endows and the potential greater riches a good season or two opens up, not being Crystal Palace and playing at Selhurst Park.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Shows how far ahead of us they now are when 43% of them is worth 160m.

The difference is we developed the ground, extended the west stand and added another tier; added another tier to the Covered End; and filled in two of the corners. We eventually got relegated but we had something to show for our seasons in the PL. When Palace get relegated, which will happen, what will they have to show for all the money they’ve seen from their seasons in the PL ?CAFCTrev said:
