Didn't go yesterday becasue I couldn't afford it, and went to Hillsborough last year and Sheff U this season. Wish I had been able to go, but we probably would've ended up stuck on the trains.
Fantastic result, when I saw the GOAL!!! writing appear on here, I went mad, luckily I was the only one in the house! Counting down the days til Sheff Utd at home.
great pic. look on the second row to the left of the stairs two women pooing themselves as they realise whats going to happen.
No, they are JJ's mum and sister. Until now it has been a well kept secret that his mum and sister sit at one end and his dad and brother the other to point where he needs to shoot to find the net. It worked well yesterday for all to see.
Lively Chris O'Grady was at the heart of all Wesnesdays best efforts and set-up Mike Jones with a great opportunity early on - but keeper Chris Solly cleared the effort off of the line.
Unfortunately didn't up to Sheffield, but congratulations to all the team, and just watched u-tube of our supporters at the end. Fantastic! Just read our report in the Sunday Mirror, apparently we have a new 'keeper Chris Solly. Suppose it's an easy mistake to make Chris Solly and Ben Hamer - look so alike! The reporter must have been either pissed or a Wends Supporter, doesn't hardly have a good word to say about us.
At yesterday's game I was looking round wondering who my fellow Lifers were. Could we not develop a gangsta-style hand signal so we can pick each other out? Or a bird like flocking call? Or am I just a desperate sad lad for wanting to know For the record I sat to the left of the stand as you looked at the pitch, halfway back. Wearing a black wool parka and grey flat cap.
What a birthday present for me!! GREAT performance - was exhausted just listening to the commentary!
Was this the best result you have seen since the club was formed Solar? Happy Birthday Clive.
It's up there with Sunderland/Wembley, Cliff Durandt's late winner in the snow c. 1964 to avoid relegation, 4-3 away at Newcastle when we flew up for a Tuesday night game and fought back from 1-3 down, etc, and 'Morts in the snow' at the spanners' new place, Kap :-)
Jarvis Cocker, Michael Vaughan, Chrissssthhhy Waddle....your boys took one hell of a beating.
Arguably our best result of the season given the pressure around the game. Wasnt pretty but out of the 2 sides i think we tried to play the football.
Sheff W looked a physical side whose main tactic was to lump it up to the big two (one of whom struggled to stay on his feet at the start of the first half and seemed more interested in appealing to the ref than threatening our goal.)
Was suprised to read some of the comments on here about supposed views of wed saying we had a negative game plan and were dirty. Obvious bias and bitterness in defeat which im sure most of us indulge in from time to time and will take it with a pinch of salt. Whilst we were no angels some of the cynical fouls they comitted if at our place could have seem them finishing the game with less than they started.
Special mention to our defence who weathered the storm and are surely the strongest unit in this league. Chris Solly take a booo son.
Support was great and would have been further improved had the trains not ballsed up manys journeys.
Special mention to the ref and linesman on our left hand side.
Absymal.
Also noticed that at this level all officials appear to have the demeanor of sad retired insurance salesmen whom never fully recovered from having had their spirits crushed the day Marion from the office rejected their marriage proposal and ran off with "flash" Dave from accounts. An act that condemned them to endure a lonesome existence consisting mainly of a diet of corn beef hash and wathcing reruns of "The Good Life" interspersed by making inexplicable decisions at 3rd division football matches around the country each week. Whilst this temporarily numbs the pain once they blow that whislte at 4.45pm the darkness returns leaving them to contemplate "What could have been?" had they possessed the gumption to invest in that Ford Orion like their arch nemesis "Flash Dave" all those years ago. Sobbing into their kit bag they wipe the "Old spice" infused tears from their cheeks and vowing to achieve some sort of redemption by pissing off supporters with their ludicrous officiating next Saturday.
Sad to see Sheffield, like 99% of places in this country now, has appeared to have very little indivuality as a city looking around the town centre may as well have been in Bracknell or Croydon and whilst I was there for football and not do delve into its underlying culture just seemed another drab, sanitised identikit centre of gloom and despair.
Got a little bit moody as expected coming out the ground which isn't any real suprise. The hilariously stereotypical contingent of massively overweight, dressed like teenagers, and old enough to know better and acne ridden skinny chavs many of whom wouldnt have the minerals or the ability to have a one on one tear up without ten pints in them and the numbers hugely in their favour against anyone who can hactually hold their hands up. I put it down to frustration at the loss and the fact that the steel industry went up shit creek and now our knives and forks are made in China.
Note to some of our lot to maybe put your grey matter into gear and not "give it"unless you've got the capacity and intention to back it up in the aftermath whilst putting the rest of us in the position of getting an unwarranted clump.
Apart from those jockeys found that the people were all strangely friendly though, especially the women, to the point of thinking a couple of times "what's their game"....although I am remarkably good looking and charming... so Im not sure all of you will have shared the same experience.
Great day out and proud to be a part of this magnificent club.
" I put it down to frustration at the loss and the fact that the steel industry went up shit creek and now our knives and forks are made in China" Ha! Very good Rodders.
It was a kind of hell having to listen to that game on the radio. All I could hear was the Wendies screaming abuse while the commentators went of on tangents. Fantastic win. This season is ours.
Its a stretch to say it ''wasnt pretty'' RCT! Some of our passing either side of half time was sublime. Some of the defensive interplay to get out of trouble was superb. Some of the linking lay offs were as good as I've seen from us in years.
Thought Clarke blew a chance to seal it towards the end when he opted to pass rather than shoot, but he totally redeemed himself with a couple of exquisite passes (after some terrible first touches!)

I agree I was talking about their "hoof it up to the pub league players oop front" style that Megson had his team mastering so craftily.
Actually pitied them if thats the dross they watch each week and even if in the unlikely event they claw their way out of this dire league by utilising it theyll not last five minutes in the 2nd division.
There were times our own play was so flowing and intricate it would have had Ruud Gullitt requiring a change of y fronts.
So the Wednesday fans can dish it out to Morrison but don't like it given back? Please remind me who lacks class then?
There was a lot of moaning this time last week on here about murphy's gesture towards us; that sort of discrepancy in the abuse fans give/get seems to be abound in all teams fans, not just wendy's.
From interview on Sky Sports. Megson added: 'I think it's [the result] significant in terms of who'll win it because I think they will but there are two places for promotion. Whoever finishes above them will be a magnificent side.'
Great team performance, my 5th game of the season(perfect record so far) and the boys didnt let us down.
Im not sure how the SW fans thought they were screwed by the officials as in my eyes they could not of moaned if they had ended the game with 8 men with some of the tackles and general cheating tactics they used but thats a Megson team.
Hamer - did great at the numerous set pieces mainly and pulled off a fantastic save at 0 0. Solly - had there so called star player in his pocket all afternoon to the point that i had to ask the guy next to me if that was Marshall. Taylor - put in another solid performance. Morrison - i was worried the first few minutes as looked like they were getting to him but then ended up putting in another fine display. Wiggins - Fantastic again with his pace and control, they could not deal with him all afternoon. Green - was probably the weakest player for us but still did a good job, when he had the ball at his feet they had no chance. Pritchard - Showing why CP signed him, bags of enthusiasm and passion plus class on the ball. Hollands - solid performance and showed Semedo how you can be a tough CM but still be creative. Jackson - slow start but once he got that fantastic goal he really came alive and showed his class and why he is captain. BWP - did everything right apart from putting that chance in the back of the net, showing that he is getting back to his earlier form. Kermorgant - just did his usual performance, win every header and then showed he is just as good with his feet. Russel - came on and instantly gave us a bit more muscle in midfield by winning a couple of important headers when defending. Clarke - not impressed when he first came on but then towards the end showed flashes of something with an excellent pass and then his run where he should of taken the chance himself, definatly something there and again can see why CP has signed him.
Only bad thing was the walk back to the car and the numerous comments directed at me from bitter SW fans.
Wednesday tried to bully us but we weren't having any of it. Aside from the goal we had the best chances and could/should really have won by more.
Was talking to some muggy Wednesday fan after the game and am genuinely convinced that I watched a different game to him. There was only one team paying football out there. Overall I thought they were pretty poor for a home team with an unbeaten home record. Just an ugly team trying to pressure their way to victory. Didn't work. Best team won.
a few thoughts on a few players on the day after: Hamer - seems to have learnt to punch the ball away, not my favorite way of clearing, but it worked for him and seems to give him more confidence. His kicking is inconsistent, some of his high kicks are poor but when he side kicks it he often starts some promising attacks. Solly - his lack of height gives us an advantage as the opposition target him, at one point yesterday a high ball came down our right, no way could Solly beat the Wendy to the header so he waited and then took the ball off him when it got on the ground. Green - seemed a little quiet, I'd like to see Waggy given a chance on the right. Kermorgant - he not only is the lychpin of our attack but is willing to come back into midfield and defend effectively. Wright Phillips - he just needs a goal.
CP - I love the way he manages the team and encourages the link between the team and the fans
Throughout the whole club there's seems to be a lack of class.
From the Manager swearing at our side from the touchline, to his moaning about timewasting, the players throwing elbows about, the terrible tackles that were flying in to the fact they wouldn't put the ball out after we had someone down and almost scored from it, then there's the lovely supporters waiting for people on there way out starting on families and OAPs.
I had a brilliant day yesterday, I was willing driver in a two car convoy, some great lads made it an even better day. Was an actually perfect away day, 3 hours there and 3 back, 3 points, loads of banter, Wendies are a dire mob, can't believe what there forums are saying about us, diluded muppets! We were dirty eh, well the numerous elbows, and the rotten little sly stamp on Talyors toe by Madine was shit, don't think anyone else saw that, first half! FairPlay to the decent Owls here but most of you lot are right bunch of melts!
Great old ground tho Hillsborough, and when they wanted to make noise it was impressive, our support was fairly good too, the llera chants were classic! Prob my fave away ground, there is a eary-ness (is that a word?) about it and great acoustics.
This team, never fails to impress me, Powell is a genius, and to have so many possible choices for me to name player of the season so far just goes to show how good we are! Kerm was immense, Wiggy well he was absolute class above, Solly dont even need to say anything! Hollands, Morro, and that chance for BWP when clear through after amazing play from Wiggy, well that would of been goal of the season! JJ grey goal too, and Hamer, best keeper by a mile since Deano.
Sir Chris of, i actually had sex wee in my Jack Palance when you walked off so cool and calm at te end, you are the coolest dude in football. Arise.
Plaaayer, jog on, both managers have admitted swearing, both clubs felt agreived about challenges in the game .
As for not putting the ball out of play, you had the ball and continued to attack!
Any body who wants to start on people out side the ground is scum, we all have em including your club.
There are some balanced , sensible comments on her and then , we have Glasshalf full, In your dreams! ASk CP if he thinks that team will rip up the championship and he leave you wishing you hadnt been so stupid to open your mouth.

makes me laugh that megson even accused us of timewasting before the game had even begun. cute.

Quite frankly I felt embarrassed for them.
