Haha looking on Owlstalk the majority of posts are just '1500? thats fookin' embarassin'. Can't wait to show these lot how football is really played.
Let's be honest it is. I'll take a bet with anyone that Sheff U bring more than 1500 to us next Saturday (assuming the game isn't postponed).
Anyway I'll be there.
Of course they will bring more than 1500 but they are coming to the Olympic city, capital of our nation and we in return have to go up north to Sheffield ; need I say more?
we will win and we will have more than 1500 up there - got to say i'm surprised we haven't sold more for this but its definitely a more crucial game for them than us. We are top and have been nearly all season - sheff wed are just one of the chasing pack and will remain so even if we lose, which we won't.
I think it's important we get back to keeping clean sheets. We've let in 9 goals over the past 6 games (admittedly 4 against Fulham) so I think we're due one. I think CP will always play for the 3 points so we will go for it. I also think BWP is due a goal. 0-2 to the mighty Addicks and Bradley to get back on the scoring charts.
Bold talk Smithy, ps dont come on here too soon after the final whistle, or you will give the game way , that you havent been but are still sat on the couch at home.
0-2 to the Addicks. Both Bradley's on the score sheet. SSN will award both goals to BWP because they're thick (no offence) leaving Pritchard pissed off.
Don't feel good about this one. It's a shame as i've been looking forward to this since the fixtures came out. The Wendies are starting to get excited and that means that they are getting behind their team. Not a good place to be, Hillsborough when they are in front. Lets hope we score at least two. I fear 2-2 at best.
I think it will be an extremely tight and tense game, so I am not expecting a thing of great beauty. Our first objective must be the quieten the crowd and stifle any early momentum. If we can do that, retain possession and start to create a few things ourselves, we are well capable of taking something from this one, especially with the character and bottle in our side.
I had a few pints tonight with a Wednesday supporting mate. He thinks that charm merchant, Clinton Morrison, may get a start, alongside O'Grady, with Sanchez Watt ( Arsenal loanee ) and Ryan Lowe on the bench. The winger, Marshall ( like most of their team, a six footer ), has been their best player. This is the last game of his loan spell and Wednesday are concerned that they will be outbid in the window by a Championship club should Stoke decide to cash in ( although he has a long throw, so perhaps Pullis will decide to keep him ).
Wednesday are very good on set plays and their game is built around power and strength. We shall need Hamer to step up to the plate.
I'll go with a draw, which would be a most satisfactory outcome.
Well if that is how wenedsday play then i hope Hamer really has worked on his arial abilities. never looks that confident going for crosses.
I think its going to be tough. the more i think about it the more nervers i get. still not happy with the midfield as i dont know who is our strongest pair in the middle. Hollands is a definite, but who to play alongside him? now thats the question. Jackson worrys me a bit. I know alot of people on here are fans of him, as am i. However i have found over the last two games and a few previous to him getting injured to disapper during the game. For a captain thats not good enough. I know he's on the wing and i know alot of wingers can get isolated, but i just wish he would show some more of the class that we got from him earlier in the season. As for the forward line, well bwp needs to get through this mini drought he's on. He needs to work harder to chase down the ball as well. Other than that i think we're sorted. so you still got a day powell. iron out those little wrinkles and we'll be laughing.
Morning folks Physic RM here a little earlier in the day than normal...trouble was my balls awoke me as they had been 'banging' away since about 5.30 am and Mrs RM told me to get up..........so I did.... but not in quite the way she had expeted though!! Oh well not to worry..... I've taken them in hand given them a good caressing and cleaning and this is what they have predicted.......tight game, some good football mixed in with some ugly stuff....and more than a few hairy moments for both sides....however all that said and done.....all they can see is 1-1.
Match thread from 2pm for those no going...by my alter ego RedMid.
Charlton to fluke a lucky win. Bury to take a point from the Blades. Palace to lose at home to Leeds. Millwall to lose at home to Brum. Am just about to go on line bookies to see what price I ca get for that quartet
If we do win will the Fooking Massives still claim we aren't all that. They've got no pace- if we can keep the crowd quiet and frustrate them they will lose. Their home wins have been built around solid starts and early goals. They scraped home v Tranmere after a two goal start and on any other day would have lost to West Ham reserves. The wide open spaces of Hillsborough are made for Danny Green.
Hope we aren't too slow out of the blocks! Need to be on our game from the start. As always, feeling nervous about this one but we now have a committed bunch and hopefully can pick up a minimum of one point. Heart says a 2-0 victory but head says 2-2. COME ON YOU REDSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS !!

Haven't you got mobile internet up north?
2-1 to the Wednesday with 16,000 disappointed red men.
We have been most vulnerable this season to two things. Deflections (!) and set pieces. Reports say that Sheffield Wednesday are a good set piece side, indeed isn't that how they got their goal at the Valley? So, if the ref gives them a lot of corners and free kicks (and these decisions are the most easily influenced by the crowd) then I feel they will score one, maybe two from them. If they have a propensity to shoot on sight that may also help them with some unlucky deflections against us (Fulhams first came from a deflection)...because of all that I think they will score two goals. If I am right it will be up to us to get two, hopefully three goals ourselves...and most especially the opening goal. We have the ability to test their defence, and I think they will need to play our (really good) ex-player Semedo in a deep lying role...to my mind we have to use a much width as possible and not so much shoot on sight as cross on sight, if we can engineer crossing positions I think we can cause trouble. I also noticed that they can be a little vulnerable to an early through ball, so BWP must remain onside and look for those. Personally I think the officials at this level are pretty flakey, and tend to favour home teams, not deliberate, but enough to give them an edge. I think we may be narrowly beaten 2-1, but hope for a 2-2. We must not throw in the towel at any stage because they have conceded late goals....an early goal for us will really help our chances of getting something from Hillsborough.
More unsure about the result than any game for a long time ... earlier this week I thought we would win, yesterday had a feeling we would lose ... today, mmm, ok will commit to a 2-2 draw
i think people on here are convincing each other that sheff wed are some sort of formidable opponent. They seem to be quite strong but more than capable of leaking goals, particularly to a strong side like us. They don't score many either and our victory tomorrow will be a bit of a watershed moment for them as us and Sheff U go on to break away. No probs.
2-0 away win just as we done at Bramall Lane will do nicely.
It's not often we beat both Sheffield sides away and it's not often they are both fighting us and each other for promotion. Without looking at record books i seem to recall it was a similar event in the late fifties in the old second division. Only two went up in those days and I think Wednesday went up with what's their name and both Sheffield clubs were like being on a bungee cord. Up and down up and down. First Division, Second Division
Memory now fading fast. Now where the hell did i put that Book of Football Records??. It not in the upstairs cupboard. Not under the stairs.
Forget the book I am now trying to find my memory.
COYR Give the Wendies some stick tomorrow and make a proud Charlton supporter very happy.

1)a choice of nice pubs by the Thames and an assortment of good eateries or
2) a Wetherspoons a fight and a kebab?

Would definitely accept that result anyway
