  • Fulham won without getting out of second gear. Yes we had a five minute spell in the second half when we should have equalised but that's not enough to win a game like that. We were far too conservative in the 1st half (Green dropping back behind Solly when he went forward instead of trying to force a two on one situation) and it handed the initiative to Fulham. To beat strong opposition away from home like Fulham then you need at least eight players putting in 8/10 performance. Too many players weren't good enough on the day and that's why we lost so heavily. We're a good enough side to have made that a much closer game and that was the disappointment.

Was that David "diddy" Hamilton doing the match announcements on the tannoy and did he refer to Andy Hayes coming on for us as a sub?

How do you fancy that for a gig BDL getting that lot up for it "you know what youve got to do....youve got to doth your feathered caps and politely hurrah for the boys"

I thought we played well in parts and most players seemed to be enjoying the game with plenty of effort.

Great support from the stands and the vast majority stayed behind to applaud the players.

Fulham support is a joke, always has been. The vast majority of their fans in the pub before were American from what I could tell.

A good test for the team and they came up short but they will have enjoyed it and it will help to keep them tight.

Five minutes? You're having a laugh.
Yes, they were better than us, but I don't think you give us enough credit. That was a decent performance.

Fulham had for too much quality in their team. I thought Solly dealt with Frei brilliantly and Pritchard did really well getting the ball down and passing it around which meant we didn't see the ball being hoofed in the air much. We were undone by some good movement by international quality players so the result does not bother me at all. I was quite surprised at how quiet the home fans were and when they did start singing they were copying one of our songs! Even when we were a premier league side playing against lower leagues sides at least our covered end used to make some noise. Only negative was when a couple of our fans kicked off and the police getting involved. Took about 10 police to take out 1 bloke?! We have no more cup interruption's now so let's focus on continuing our good run and getting out of league one.........
  • so we now know what the bandage on Solly's arm was for. He has a tattoo
  • Dissapointed with the first half in that is was all to easy for Fulham. Gave them far to much space and Murphy should have been man marked as everything was going through him.

Second half was much better but we had to get a goal, we didn't and the second pretty much killed the game.

As others have said, 4-0 was very flatering.
  • Sounds like Pritchard deserves to keep his place next week.
  • Why do so many people posts start with 'I haven't read the thread' then continue to offer their thoughts?

Surely the whole point of a forum is that you read what others have said before you comment?

It comes across as "I don't care what you all think but as I'm so important I'm going to tell you what I think!"
I am one of those that do this, write first, and then read the whole thread. I do it to write in an un-influenced way, and then find out if others saw it in a similar way...in the end I think that method gives the fan who wasn't there a more accurate perspective.
Your description of the 'way it comes across' is certainly not the intention of myself, or I suspect any other poster.

On the strength of that performance, definitely

  • Stopped for a (very expensive) pint in Putney on the way back, the Fulham fans in there agreed it wasn't really a 4-0 by any stretch of the imagination. Had the feeling after BWPs chance and Greens shot that our opportunity had gone but in truth we were up against a top half prem side and we did well to create the chances we did. From the start I think their one-twos around the box threatened to undo us, although in the end it was two deflections and a dodgy pen that did the damage. All that matters now is that the heads don't drop as a result, I like to think they won't.
  • Thought the team were immense. They way we kept the ball on the floor, the way we managed to create chances. Solly was his usual solid self, as for Bradley Pritchard - What a bargain.

Kermo and BWP ran their collective socks off.

All in all Fulham were exceptionally flattered by the scoreline.

Had shed loads of abuse aimed at me on Twitter as I said that Fulham was a Sterile, soul less ground. Pity that they had no passion during the game.

Funny when I pointed out they were a rich mans plaything they shut up. Without the Egyptians money they would still be a struggling League One side.

We move on, distraction of the Cup has gone. 4 points from the next two games hopefully. That's what matters. Hopefully Wet Spam implode and we have three of our rivals still distracted.

    One Aim!

Oh yeh right, of course ;-)

    Fair enough.
  • only downside to yesterday apart from shipping 4. which was unjust. was sully's kicking. sliced a few and didn't quite get that kermogant was the target. other than that sully was blinding and unlucky.
  • How did we get Kermorgant on a free? Wouldn't look out of place in the prem with some of the flicks he was pulling off yesterday... outstanding
  • stop slagging danny murphy's wife off..................

she loves him for his good looks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    lol

  • At game and read thread and forget murphys wife, unflattering score lines, and remember the feeling of being 4-0 down but still enjoying the day, the game, the fact the the players and Powell were indeed PROUD of the support they got and even Jol gave a respectful wave to us as he left. This is the stuff of what we as fans should be proud and I am going up next Saturday to do exactly the same even if we dont have a thousand there although lets all make the effort at this very important business part of the season. Concerning the game Solly, Pritchard, Kermorgant, stand out and I think everyone put a shift in but they were the better side especially in defence. But we aren't a premiership side; nor are Sheffield Wednesday and if we perform like that next Saturday then the outcome will be positive.
  • Really enjoyed the game yesterday, lots of positives from it and a fantastic atmosphere! Pritchard was like signing a new player - we should extend his contract tomorrow! Runs out in summer.
Where was Russel?? He was eligible for the cup.

Presumably many of you noticed the sprinklers at half time....a little thought of mine was why did they need to do that in the winter climate?? What I'm saying is presumably they did this before the game (I didn't actually see) but the ground would have been soft, couldn't help but notice a coupl eof our players slipping - not one of theirs did - and this did have a part to play for the second goal when I believe who ever was tracking Dempsey just slipped...maybe a ploy...who knows, just thought it was a little odd.....dirty b......

    No problem...one aim

I think the idea with the sprinklers was just to give the surface that little bit of extra zip SCM - which clearly suits their short passing game.

For as long as I can remember our players ALWAYS seem to slip over more than the opposition. I know that's unlikely to be true statistically, but I guess you just tend to notice it more when its ours.

I think for some its to put up their views without having them biased by reading what others have written.
I think it's more to do with the fact that people wanna make their personal point but don't have the time to read 4 or 5 pages worth of comments before posting their personal viewpoint. I don't see anything wrong with it at all.

Just seen the 'penalty'. Absolutely disgusting decision, wasn't even close.

And why the hell was BWP's chance not on the CAFC Player highlights?! Was our best chance of the game.

  • Spot on, LNA.

    Simple as that .
  • Dowd is a poor ref. But he is in good company!
  • Great day out, got home just before midnight. We played really well & I honestly believe, that was one of our best performances this season and I've only missed a couple. If we play like that for the remainder we will get automatic promotion.

Scoreline flattered them. They did to us what we have done to the opposition all season. They were more clinical. Excellent finishing. They are a top side.

They were also so much bigger & stronger. Centre halves were giants.

There were no negatives, so it's a shame that you can get a skewed view from this board, because of 4 people out of 7000.
  • Just seen the highlights on player, we had as many chances as they did, the goals? two deflected efforts, a scandulous decision for a penalty, Sullivan quite obviously got a hand to the ball, you can see the ball quite clearly change direction, disgracefull decision that killed the game. The fourth goal, well it was all over by then.

    Bring on the Wendies!
  • Technically a pre-match view but I was about early doors Saturday morning & travelled on the same mode of transport as a group of Charlton fans who got off at where I presume a boat was leaving....there was quite an attractive lady wearing a red coat. That's all.

Isn't it about time you came out of the closet ? You know you want to support Charlton.
