Oldham were poor as was the ref but we didn't show enough urgency first half and not enough composure throughout. Our players are classy enough to beat teams like Oldham by 2 or 3. But we shouldn't panic, we're still top and SCP selections still look spot on to me. COYR
I'm really not understanding what people think Hughes offers over Russel. Russel is a far superior footballer.
Personally I don't think he offers that much. He is technically better than Hughes but the way Hughes slots in and allows Hollands to play is far more useful in my opinion.
Poor game, not a lot to say really, they came to spoil and it worked, we're missing JJ big time now, I've not been impressed with Hogan - a poor mans Jerome Thomas IMO
Battled on despite playing poorly and didn't lose. A little better to last week especially when we tried to play football from the start of the 2butnd half. But I don't understand why we've reverted to so much longball? We've such a poorer team when we do it but with Yann winning so much in the air the temptation appears too great. Brad had Another poor game and is clearly frustrated but i wonder how much of that is down to the amount of longball we're now playing? Playing off flick ons is not his game.
And I'm now in the camp that thinks Green is a luxury crosser we can't currently afford. I believe he is currently weakening the team overall.
Ah well we still got a lead and hopefully this is our famous blip. Onwards and upwards as we're clearly good enougj, just a few things to sort out.

Maybe, the fact that Russel has been our best player (arguably) in the past two games though says a fair bit. I don't think Hughes has been as integral to affect the performances of 10 other players - he's not that important surely?!
Still, just 'one of those periods'. That may change if we havent seen another win come January 3rd.
Oldham were useless we had to many off days bwp played in his mindset which is lacking confidence and he had a bad day. he still played a part in the goal and will always earn us more points than any other striker. agree with bench talk i.e we need more options euell can't get a spot on the bench not even close to being good enough.

Fair point but I just think we look more of a unit with Hughes in there. However in the past two games a lot of people have had off days so it says something about Russel that he can still play well when those around him aren't.
We were mugged, pure and simple. We didn't play well but certainly had enough chances to have won comfortably.
Can't believe I'm reading "no plan B" and "we can't beat the lesser teams" rubbish on here. Actually, yes, I can believe it.
We're 5 points clear at the top of the league, unbeaten at home and have lost only once. I think some people need to take a breath and remember the old say that "you can't win them all".
Good attitude - 10 games unbeaten, yes we're frustrated but if you think we'll win every game this season you're wrong. Move on to Yeovil, one more game down, five points clear.

Sounds focused and professional. He's right as well.
He is spot on , we are not going to walk through every team , and win every game , we haven't lost ground on anyone close and watching mk vs Preston they ain't playing well either yet are losing currently
Also think were missing Hughes - thats not to take anything away from Russell who i think looks a decent player, but your best team doesnt always have your best players in it.
An improvement on Walsall (just!). BWP looked a bit brighter today. Big Yann a super brave hero. Unbeaten again, so not too bad considering we're missing JJ & DS. Keeping calm and carrying on.
All I know is, we need to get out of this league this year. Cant face watching Oldham ever again. Can you imagine watching that every week? If ever a team were cut from the same cloth as their manager.
Not the best performance, we missed jackson big time in midfield - good point though seeing as sheff wed drew 4-4 in the end
That will do bring back Hughesy ,(if fit) he brought the best out of Hollands , which is greater than the part, Russel is not at all bad , just think Hughes was in the side was when we were firing?
Thought Wright-Phillips had his worst game in a CAFC shirt, but I suppose we haven't lost or gained anything on the teams around us so its not the worst result in the world.
The balanced, logical side of my noggin is saying relax, look at the league table, think back to what our expectations were at the start of that season, the unbeaten run continues, we're not going to win every game, sides are going to come to The Valley and make it difficult, blah de blah.
The smaller, irritant part of me is saying however, what a wasted opportunity to put some real, serious daylight between us and the chasing pack. That much better sides than Oldham are going to come with the same game plan for the rest of the season and it is down to us to break them down and seriously impose ourselves in an attacking sense. That the psychological foot seems to have stepped momentarily off the gas since that Huddersfield win.
The liklihood, as always, is probably somewhere in the middle. The difference between the last couple of games and the sequence before that, is in that spell we we taking one of first opportunities in the game and settling down after that, forcing teams to open up and be a bit more attacking earlier in the game than they would have liked. Last couple of games the goals haven't been so quickly to come by, and we've looked a bit devoid of quality going forward today. However, we would have had the game wrapped up if BWP had rounded that keeper with a bit more purpose.
A little wobble was always due, so no cause for concern. However, dropping points against your Walsall's and your Oldham's just puts a bit more pressure on your plate for when you face the Sheffield's, Hudders and MK Dons.
Thought Big Yann again was probably the best of our bunch, bar a cracking through ball for when BWP should have scored, i would have hoped the midfield would have imposed themselves in an attacking sense a bit more than they did.

Onwards and upwards...
Eltham is spot on about Hogan...

Green needs to cut out the casual parts of his game.
I'm not a fan of this moving Green to the left wing to take a throw. This slows down our own moves.
