London Riots

  • Love it Lammy giving it to the old bill telling them the riots were their fault for not cracking down quickly enough, Riiiight. Cos of course, as soon as the first muppet started chucking shit through windows, everyone would have applauded the gavvers for taking him the f*** out.

This was nothing but a bunch of moody little tosspots using a pathetic manufactured excuse to have a go at the coppers and lift HD tellys unhindered. I'm not commenting or passing judgement, just setting out the facts.
  • The Brixton riots in 1981 started because the local "community" believed that the OB had stood by and watched whilst a young black lad - who had been stabbed by three other black lads - bled to death on the pavement.
Just a small point - the brixton riots happened because of the general attitude of the met police to people of african/carribean descent was absolutely appalling and was the result of other long term factors. This incident simply pushed it too far.

Maybe, but my point was that rumour got spread as fact and before you know it all hell has broken loose.
  • Explain this then , I had a whisper from a neighbour that enfield town was next, so I just took a trip up there and, yep pearson's these department store, tk max, and McDonald's have been attacked windows smashed and shops robbed, there are 100s of the cowards hooded up and scarfs covering faces looking to kick off and old bill well out numbered

Scum I will take arms tonight and be watching my house like a guard
  • Kent addick - 'Swamp 81' was the Police Operation in Lambeth due to a massive increase in street robberies in the area. A lot of locals resented being 'stopped and searched' by the extra plain clothed officers in the area and it went downhill from there, after the young guy was stabbed and surprise surprise Police were accused of failing to give him first aid. The fact was he had been involved in a fight and he thought he was being arrested, so he 'escaped'.

NLA - is that right or a wind up? My 12 yr old daughter is at a party in Enfield Town.
  • The old bill don't do confrontation anymore. There's a gypo camp in deepest darkest Essex that they've put off shutting down for nigh on 10 years! They don't want the hassle.

They have all got very nice handwriting though.

Fraid not mate, there was chat on facebook about it. Didnt post anything cos i thought it would be whallies talking rubbish but think NLA confirms it.
  • These aren't real protesters, just scum bags looking to cause havoc. Anyway, what is there to protest about? Bastard with a gun shoots at police, they return fire, he dies. Sick of people defending this bloke, since when has it become legal to carry firearms in the UK ? Too many excuses are made for these types, what about all the innocent people whose property is being destroyed by scum? Time to get seriously hard !! Bring back the birch!!
  • Nothing on Sky News about any new trouble Enfield or otherwise.

  • Well hopefully it's just internet rubbish SHG.  Suppose it would be wise for the mainstream media to keep a lid on it as itll probably just encourage more.
  • NLA Just spoke to local Old Bill at Edmonton and they state that the situation is 'under control' after damage has been caused this afternoon, but they have further intelligence about this evening. Off now to collect my daughter with baseball bat in the car - for sporting purposes only of course. This is mental.
  • Mate get her quick they reckon its going to go off round her tonight nasty vibe up the town, got cozzer helicopter over my gaff right now

Put a tennis ball in there with the bat in case you get pulled over ;-)

In fact the OB took him to hospital and saved his life, but the rest is history.

Love the way that people are saying they want the facts to come out, but then instantly dismiss the "establishments" version of events in favour of something said by someone on Twitter!

The 1981 riots had a lot to do with heavy handed policing - if you remember the police were allowed to arrest/detain or simply stop people on the suspicion that they had been involved in crime. For some reason the black community in Brixton felt that they were disproportionally targeted, which they were. When there's a lack of trust between two groups of people then it's easy for things to escalate.

I appreciate that in this current instance the trouble seems to have started after the shooting of someone accused of drug dealing etc, but maybe there are deep rooted problems in the community that aren't immediately evident.

The police have hardly covered themselves in glory in recent weeks and months - political protests have been dealt with by yje police in a heavy handed manner - I've yet to see a justification for kettling students, there was the killing of Ian Tomlinson and we are still uncovering the involvement of the police in the News International story where it seems a number of them were taking bribes.

  • I will be sleeping in the front room tonight , with a bat and my telescopic no way am I waking up like some of those poor feckas last night, with people in their gaff,

I hope it is over exaggerated with the rumors flying about round here,
  • Well hope it all goes well nla.
  • The youth of today are complete and utter dick heads that need sorting out.

Was at my local shops earlier when a group about 16-18 yr old boys walked past heard one say we should go tottenham Join that riot that's well good start fires, fight police and rob all shops,

They are just thick living in a different world with there tiny brains to any normal person.
  • Not all of them Smiffy to be fair. There's a lot of good kids of all backgrounds out there but they dont make headlines and are tainted by the wrong uns that do.
  • I know RTC but just can't stand the ones that think the gangsters with all there attitude problems

  • Goes without saying mate ;-)
  • So shine,. your cousin is doing 5 for bullshit evidence.
Did he do it? You forgot to mention whether he was guilty or not (or the crime for that matter).
Imagine if you was sat at home and these arseholes decided they wanted to burn your car/home.
Fuck all these gangster mobs. I would like to let them deal with there postcode arguments in a massive pen, and arm all of them.
It would save the honest, law abiding taxpayers a fortune.
I would also like to stick all the do good lefties in there with them and let them be a calming influence.
Maybe a few choruses of cum bi yah would sort it.
  • Didn't you you know robbo all prisoners are innocent and have been framed by the police, according to them
  • NLA - there are little gangs all around the outside of the shopping centre in the town. More Police are here now and have a load pinned against a wall. Looks like they have arrived in cars, buses and on trains. The helicopter was still here about 10 mins ago. Shops were ordered to close at about 2.30pm. Got daughter and I'm off!
  • A lawyer f***ed me.
  • I'm spending the night on top of Shooters Hill, next to the Water Tower, with my pea shooter, torch, thermos flask and water pistol in case any of those dreadful people decide to come south of the river. SHG you're welcome to join me. And, rest assured, if any of them go near the Valley I'll be calling out the heavy mob, Rick Everett, Colin Cameron, Kevin Nolan and Steve Sutherland to name a few.

No wonder Oggy moved to Cornwall!
  • I fancy a new telly. Anyone fancy coming down to Bexleyheath with me and smashing up a few shops?

PS. I'm a disenchanted yoof, init blud.
  • Going to go and check it out again mate see whats going on thanks for the update , glad you got your little girl out safe and sound

Well he's guilty is being racially abused and guilty of disarming the same guy that was attacking him with a kosh.
In court he was found guilty of attacking the guy and the 3 coppers that arrested him... with previous he didnt have a chance, the other guy just walked.

I dont agree with attacking random peoples property, thats just pointless...but I understand why they would want to rise against the system.
