  • Wasn't he at top on his own? bit unfair on him if so.

From what I saw of Euell's "cameo" on Saturday then I think we can't count on him producing much this this season - he looked way off the pace and contributed nothing.

Just hope we sign someone soon.........otherwise we will be replacating last seasom when Powell first took over - 4 wins followed by................

Jesus wept.....how long did he have? 20 mins? 20mins when we were under a bit of pressure and he was left upfront on his own.

4 wins followed by loads of defeats? Slight difference this time round. Every single one of Powells first 4 wins we could have lost. Other than 30ins against Peterborough we didn't play well in any of them. This time we have cruised past Bournemouth and totally dominated Notts County away from home for 60mins and then stood up to a physical bombardment.

We are a much better side than last year and to say our season hinges on signing one more striker is beyond laughable.

  • Well said Clem-Snide toatally agree.
  • Great stuff as always golfaddick! How long was his cameo, 20 mins?

    More like ten !!

Do need another good striker though IMO whether Benno stays or not

Agreed, we do need another backup.
  • do i get some kind of award for starting a thread with so many comments on it?

    Yes .... well done ;0
  • My concern is if he leaves and we then go and buy a replacement, who is an out and out striker, then Euell would surely get the nod for a place on the bench, as he can play in 2 positions. So where are we going to find a striker better than (or at least as good as but younger) Benno?

CP: "we'd really like you to come and be part of our squad at Charlton Athletic".

PLAYER: "Cool, so do you see me as being in your first eleven?"

CP: "Er, well, no. We've got BWP and Hayes who are my first choice up front"

PLAYER: "Okay, so you want me to come off the bench to fight for my place?"

CP: "Erm, no. Euell will be our striker on the bench as he can also cover as att mid or out wide"

PLAYER: "So, I have to play in the reserves to earn my place on the bench, to fight my way into the 1st team?"

CP: "Err, the thing is, we don't actually have a reserve team as such, and are not entered in a league...............Hey, where are you going?.....come back, we want to sign you...............".

Tango that really made me LOL; it's too near the truth.

As somebody who welcomed Jason Euell's return, I confess I assumed it would pretty much be as back-up and for his influence and experience.
We need another option as first change striker IMO.
(Dare I say I would have been content to keep Benno)
  • not seeing anything from Euell to suggest we should have signed him, bit worried it was an old pals act

Only saw Euell on Saturday so reserve judgement especially as he has never struck me as the lone striker.

  • Let's judge Euell on tuesday night as I'm sure he'll get longer than 15 mins to try to impress you all. I'm hoping Benno gets a good run out as well as i think he's good enough to keep as a back up striker at least.
  • Didn't think Euell looked that bad in all honesty, he nearly won a penalty, also didn't help that when he came on our midfield had disappeared
  • We need two CBs (one who can cover RB),
    That would be Morrison then......................................
  • 4 unnamed clubs had bid accepted http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11684_7127748,00.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Interesting, given why he did not move to Notts County would a non southern club bother?  I though he would be good for Brentford, Orient, maybe Daggers are back for him
  • If we let him go and dont bring a better striker in something has gone tits up.

And Charlie McDonald has just signed for Franchise FC. Vacancy at Brentford.
  • Bournemouth appear to be one of the clubs that have had a bid accepted (via Twitter)
  • it will be interesting to see who Powell has his eye on (assuming he has someone lined up?) ALF has now gone, and so has Sam Baldock (not that I think we would be spending THAT amount of money) and I don't think we would be looking at Charlie Mac either.............

I'm hoping for a youngish (under 28), not tall ( under 6ft) nippy striker

No vacancy at Brentford, they signed Grella from Leeds yesterday as replacement

  • Think it will be Cody McDonald in reply to Golfie.
  • 4 club's bid for him. surely we could play them against each other to drive up the price?

I suspect Rotherham and Bournemouth must be two of the clubs - they have money having sold a few players, but I doubt there'll be an auction, except in the wages and terms that they might offer him.

If he goes I hope it's to a L2 club - we don't want this one coming back to haunt us.

    Yes please.

    And/or Schlupp

I would add Gillingham to that list as well...especially as Kedwell is injured for them
  • I agree that Euell offers us a midfield/striking option from a reduced sized bench but Benno will be needed when a player gets suspended or injured - if we let him go, that means we have to find a player of his quality or better with not a lot of time till the window closes.
  • Think it will be 2 strikers and a CB.
  • According to their local paper Bradford have had a bid accepted for Benson so he may be linking up with his former manager. Further north than Nottingham though.

Where the hell did Bradford get 150K from?
  • Paper says less than the reported 150k
