I took both my sons from 4 years old and with a few penny sweets and thier Nintendos they loved it. They both love shouting things at the away team and not getting told off for it!!
I think one issue is swearing in the crowd. I remember my son asking me what was being sung at the Ipswich fans a few years ago - I was pleased with my response- 'Sheep Shearers' although I have now told him that he will hear swear words at games and I have no problem with that but he shouldn't use them and to be fair he doesn't. At 10 he says he is one of the few in his class that doesn't swear at all, so maybe exposure to swearing at games if handled correctly isn't a bad thing.
Kids do like to see wins though - my son loves it when we win and wants to go home when we are losing so it has been a struggle for the past few years.
I've been taking my little boy since he was one, he is now four. He loves going to the games and sings the red red robin at every game. We have had to ply him with food throughout the game but he seems to know what is happening and he has his 2nd season tkt this year
Ahh, thanks for that. How silly of me to see the word "marque" and think you meant "marquee". It's almost as if I was doing it deliberately or something.
IMO Off_it is right. When used as a noun the word marquee does mean a tent but it also is an illumination highlighting an attraction. But when used as an adjective then marquee is perfectly permissible as it is descriptive of the signing i.e. highlighting the signing.

Haha, fair point that and alright I will keep that in mind I was in Lower West Block D a couple of years ago but a couple of rows behind the dug out. Just looking forward to the new season now but gutted about missing the first game due to being in Tenerife at the time!
From a nearby club's website Season Ticket Sales Up More Than Twenty PercentPosted on: Mon 27 Jun 2011Palace fans continue to back Dougie Freedman's men ahead of the 2011/12 npower Championship campaign with season ticket sales up more than 20% on this time last year.Almost 9,000 have now been snapped up, a rise of 22% on June 2010 and with fixtures against Brighton, Millwall and West Ham in store this season that figure is sure to grow. There are just three days remaining to take advantage of our price freeze - with January lowest prices available until 30 June. If Palace sold 1,000 extra season tickets solely off the back of their advertising campaign they would probably be happy with that, as it could well equate to £250k in revenue. However, I doubt if it's as simple as that.
Incidentally, taking their numbers at face value, they are saying they had 25 per cent fewer season ticket-holders than us last season, despite the fact we were (and are) a division lower than them. It looks as if they may start this season ahead of us in numbers, so we'll have to do see about that . . .
However, I'd be cautious about what they are counting, because we exclude comps and corporate.
Got mine and my son's today. With 4 weeks to go surely we'll get the same number sold as at the start of last season. If so then that is a vote of confidence in the Board and CP on their efforts to create a viable team. Alternatively it could be a reflection on nearly 8000 people who believe in the triumph of hope over experience.
out of interest, will there be any vouchers in the ST's? My first ST was our first season in League 1 and there was some, then in the second there, unstandabley, wasn't any. Just wondering if, because of new owners, this would come back or not.
The vouchers were taken out with the intention of doing similar offers in a different way, but for various reasons that hasn't happened. It was not about cost-saving.
Ahh, cheers Henry. Was looking back through the thread and think I must've got my June and July's mixed up. That's not too bad then, but let's hope there's more to come.

The good news for Palace is that last year is was over 5000
7,625 sold.

Very nice!
7625 on 7 July
417 in less than two weeks. Not a huge leap but about 6% up if my mental maths is right
