Just read that too and it's great to hear. I hope Benson gets a chance to play with him as well as BWP and Hayes as they will have a good understanding from their D&R days.
wonder where this leaves waggy, can see powelly playing a 4 1 1 up top, jackson on left hollands centre alonso centre with green on the right with dale in the hole with either hayes bwp or benno up top, pretty top draw midfield for a league one club if they can all stay fit could be a successfull season season ahead. think there maybe one or 2 players who might have to be paitent for games.
I'm hoping Wagstaff will be used more as a striker or playing just off the striker. He's inconsistency on the wing will mean that unless he has a better season he might find it a bit of struggle to get in the team this season.
Waggy only scored two goals less than Green last year (and Green takes pelanties). Granted he was 6 behind in the assists but again, Green takes all corners and free kicks (of course this is because of ability).
I'd still put Green ahead of Scott but a small improvement in final delivery from him could see quite the option on the right.
I've always thought waggy was better of the bench to scare defenders with the fact he just runs at them when they are tired, think green signed will give him the right mid spot and waggy move into a striker role.
i think there will be quite a fight over who takes the deadball situations, jacko we know can deliever and be deadly, hollands and alonso also cliam to take mean free kicks, and pens.
DVDDD - Did you expect Wagstaff to get more than 10 goals and 6 assists in a season then?
If you were told at the start of last season that Wagstaff would only have 6 assists all season in league one you would be gutted. He's goals are not in question but as a winger we should expect a lot more .
We let the lad go as a kid... Dan-ny, Dan-ny But now he's back as our right mid... Dan-ny, Dan-ny He's got shit hair, He's full of fight, He'll cross for goals from Bradley Wright He's Danny Green, Charltons number ? LALALALALLALALALALAA
Whatever the relative merits of Wagstaff and Green one thing is clear. Powell has brought in a right sided midfielder / winger and when fit there is little doubt he will start in the berth that Waggy occupied last season.
Scott Wagstaff 2010/11 Season - 10 goals, 4 assists
Lloyd Sam 2009/10 Season - 4 goals, 10 assists
Which one is better? As people bashed Sam and are now bashing Waggy.
It's just 4 assists from wagstaff now ? Considering they were both wingers i would be happier with Sam's stats but to be honest neither are what you would expect from a promotion winning team and that's why we are still in the third tier.

Thanks Scoham. I hadn't trawled through the whole thread. Really helpful, sounds positive.

.. he just won't have to fight that hard )

He will if Waggy grabs a goal/assist or two first game of the season.
I agree.

Waggy bashing again.
Waggy had a good season and for me was a close call for POTY

The same last season where he scored 10 goals?
