I'd like to see either Llera or Doc play next to a pacy cnetre half - it would mitigate their biggest weakness IMO. Llera does pose a real threat at set pieces and Doc didn't last year but has done previously in his career.
How many mistakes did Llera make in the final 10 games or so that he played for us? I can't remember any glaring mistakes, and he has a good left peg and can head a ball better than anyone in recent memory too (Sam Sodje was good but misjudged more than Llera)
I would sign him up and have him as our first choice of backup, behind a beast and a pacy centre back
So DVDDD, if they are letting The Doc go, and Llera, Dailey and Forch are out of contract, have you any news (apologies if I have missed it elsewhere) on any CB's coming in?
The thing is with Llera, he would get played then dropped and wouldn't get a look in for god knows how long then expected to go straight back in without any competitive football under his belt. As someone said, he didnt do too bad toward end of season and also remember the first games of the 09/10 season when we went unbeaten!

Nope haven't heard anything at all .
Anyway who needs CBs when we have 7 in midfield
Perhaps moving Jose into a CB position and re-sign him, keep Llera and get 2 really pacey new signings?
Any one thinking that perhaps we might be shaping up to a diamond formation mid-field with only one CB with two Alonso/(one other), sitting just in front?
Also be happy if Llera stays - better than many appear to believe.
More importantly, absolutely delighted by the double signing. Can't pretend to know much about Stephens but he sounds exciting. I do know about Green though, and have rated him every time I've seen him - hard work to go with all the more talked about skill. Different type of player altogether to Waggy, who as others have suggested could poss be used as an extra forward.
Apart from the quality he brings, this is clearly something of a turning point. We're now out-bidding our rivals, apparently including some from the division above. It's not just about money though - I think we were still financially well capable of recruiting Wes Hoolahan when he shone against us for a then well-beaten (pre-Holloway) Blackpool, but Pardew probably didn't even notice him - perhaps he was too busy studying his pay-off clause. We might just have a good boss too, not just a poular figurehead!

Really can't see Jose staying now, would love it, but just don't think it'll happen. I also think if Powell had any persuasian of playing Jose as a CB then he would have tried it last season, he seemed to give everyone a go and tried to test the squad out as much as possible, but he seemed to concentrate on turning Jose into a "box to box" midfielder, I doubt much has happened over the off season to change his mind or suggest that he may be able to play as a CB.
We let the lad go as a kid... Dan-ny, Dan-ny But now he's back as our right mid... Dan-ny, Dan-ny He's got shit hair, He's full of fight, He'll cross for goals from Bradley Wright He's Danny Green, Charltons number ? LALALALALLALALALALAA

to the tune of 'Stevie Grit, He's got no hair but we don't care'
Danny Green
Danny Green
Danny, Danny Green
He's got shit hair, but we don't care
Danny, Danny Green
"Zippin' up my boots
Going back to my roots, yeah
To the place of my birth
Back down to earth"
Applies to his hair and the fact he's returned to his boyhood club.

Got to be this one really - just got to think of the middle bit;
Danny Green, Danny Green running down the wing...
Danny Green, Danny Green and this is what we sing....
something something something
something something something
Danny Green, Danny Green
'It's good to watch..a Danny Green Green pass at home.......'
*head in hands*
danny, danny green.
danny, danny greeeeen.
But now he's back as our right mid... Dan-ny, Dan-ny
