  • Missed that one Large.

    Thanks for the heads up.

    Muchly appreciated.

  • Really not too fussed. He never did enough and although he could be a good player he only showed it a tiny bit towards the end of his contract. Move on everyone and instead of stressing get excited about the raft of signings we're about to make in the next week to 10 days. LLL&BH

  • he'll last 15 minutes. The only player who i can think of that did well last year in the CCC that was a bit of a tart is Tarabaat, but his skill level was far superior than the rest. the other good players all have a bit about them.

Racon might be a decent footballer and likely to be a great player in training but when you need a centre midfielder to take the game by the scruff of the neck he will go hiding.

can only see him being a squad player there, happy he's off our wage bill and a chance to get someone else in.

  • Racon was crap, hope he has fun warming the bench, and as for the story about Trotter, thanks for trying to brighten up my day but thats about as true as my story about Messi signing for us lol.

It probably is rubbish, however IIRC it was Essex_Al who broke the news about Hayes, so maybe some truth in it!

    Ooooh the excitement!
  • Like Lloyd Sam at Leeds, he will disappear without trace. Millwall fans like a hard working player who puts his foot in when it gets tough. He is the opposite. He's a lightweight, plays tippy tappy football and has no end product.

As previously pointed out in other threads, Racon & Semedo will sign for the clubs who offer them the most money and the longest deal. Forget the "I want to play for Charlton for life" comments. Players are loyal to whoever pays for the next contract.

    The clear-out continues....whos next?

    This
  • So the fact he got number one best player in the Statbank thread was just a fluke then.  He was one of our better players surely and we should be keeping the better ones.

I find it hard to sing and dance seeing him go when the likes of McCormack, Francis and Doherty remain as part of the core of the squad.

In fairness to Racon, he never said anything like that, just that he wants to stay in the area as his family are settled here and he likes London. So he's been true to his word by signing for that lot.

    Semedo on the other hand.....

How do you know they remain at the core of the squad? It's just as possible that Powell has no plans for them at all, yet can't shift em out!
  • We could let the whole squad go then

  • Racon picked Millwall over us, I don't see how that's 'letting' anyone go!
  • wouldn't surprise me in the least to find that a couple have been 'moved on' as Preston have with Hayes.
  • Not fussed really, Glimpses of talent but not a player who’s involved for the whole 90, Not your typical so called "Charlton player" Best of luck to him at Millwall, Much rather have player who will get stuck in for 90 minutes and spit blood for the team.

  • I don't blame him for going IF its purely for the money. But when he goes around saying things like Millwall are a big club, its crap. They might be in the league above but look at the fans...they get 7,000 we get 14,000. We have a bigger and better ground. We have a better training ground. etc.

When I first found out he had gone I was gutted, but now I don't really care that much!

  • Can't say I'm sorry about this. It's time for a clear out and it's happening. Keep the faith folks.
  • We have a better stadium, more fans (and better ones at that), better facilities but desopite all that, they have more money to pay players and a better team.
  • We've got more/better fans than Wigan.

    Better facilities than scunny.

Fact remains we're in league one though!
  • So are Scunny!
  • Good riddance, not good enough as a CM if we want promotion, too inconsistent too often. Showed glimses on numerous occassions and no doubt he will shine somewhere else but we need to move on.
  • Shhhh!

Working a proper job again is clearly ruining my brain!

  • Oh well. I thought he was going to tear League One up after the showing he put on at the end of our Championship days but he never really looked bothered. If he was on a smaller contract I'd be more upset, but he was earning too much for us and we should be able to bring in a few new players for the same amount we're paying him. Could be worse
  • Adieu norbert. N'oubliez pas vos bouchons d'oreille pour ce trou, comme la langue peut être très coloré jeux il y a à la maison.

Which means don't forget your ear plugs, as the language can be rather bruce.

  • He's only been signed to add some more depth, can't see him starting...unless Trotter is being sold....bloody hope not!
I'd be worried if i were you - a classic relegation player if ever there was one - not sour grapes as i've spent a lot of time boring people to death on this board about how over rated him and Semedo are - the fact that he's signed for you (squad player or not) proves that the rest of the football world don't see much in him either - i think you'd agree that you are virtually the paupers of the championship and he won't be earning anywhere near his rumoured £6k a week at our place.

We are definitely on the bottom few rungs of the ladder in the championship with regards to revenues & transfer/wage budgets, can't compete with most of the clubs, simply not the same size or stature.

& nor will we stretch ourselves too much like a few other clubs have done, seeing as it could end up in administration again.

So we have to make do with a few steals and picking up players who perhaps have more ability than they've shown and Jackett getting the best out of them. He's done a decent job so far, Racon sounds like he has the ability, it may work out. It may not. But doesn't sound like we'll lose much.
  • GOOD RIDDANCE...................BOTTLER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Good Luck to him, wish him well
  • Blimey I log off for a few hours and it all happens doesn't it. For what it's worth I was always in the Racon flatters to deceive and represented a very poor return on our investment camp so not unhappy at all. Oddly enough this club seem to have massively swollen in membership since his departure down the road :-)
  • Good technical player who under-performed especially after he had got himself a regular place in the team. Would have been nice to keep him but not at any price.
  • Sll

there is a good player in there don't believe the bullshit on here we haven't been successful in the last few years some blame racon and semedo I don't, well worth the free transfer and the x grand a week you will be working out, I wish him well, Kenny is a good mgr and will undoubtedly bring the best out of him
  • A good player at the short stuff, nipping in and winning the ball, and sliding a pass away, the bigger vision/tactical stuff isn't his strong point, don't expect him to boss games and be a traditional midfield general.
