The beast went to Cardiff after the managerial change at PNE. He was always a big fat knacka (as they say in the northeast), but he was a deadly finisher and obviously murder for defences to handle. I'd love him here, but I don't think he'd come or we could afford him.....
PNE supporters seem to rate Hayes. Consensus is he didn't settle and plays better off a quick striker.....which they don't have. Fortunately we do in BWP. Also suggests Hayes is a top earner at Deepdale. And that Southampton are after him. Could hinge on a return to London. Hopefully.
Paul Hayes has agreed a deal to come to Charlton and will sign when he comes back from holiday, either Monday or Tuesday next week. He said he has taken a huge pay cut to come to us, but is tired of living up North and wants to come home.
I did ask if there was a transfer fee involved, but he has failed to answer that yet.
Quite a scoop Essex. Hope it's not eggy on face though. ;0)
Yeah me too SHG, my mates footballing buddy has been texting Hayes whilst he has been on holiday (I hope!) for up to date info. My mate is Charlton as well and he has known this fellah for years so I've got no reason to disbelieve him.
I'm sorry guys for my ignorance about Hayes, but why is he much better than Abbott was, why are people so excited about Hayes? Sorry to be a wet banana but as I say I'm ignorant about him, so please someone sell him to me!
Can only repeat what's already been said - he's a bit like Andy Hunt - although obviously not as good.
I would say if you're comparing him to Pavel, Hayes has better control, is fitter, quicker, better at assists & will score more goals & he's younger, but experienced at this level - a proven golascorer if not exceptional.

Good point mendonca. People were pulling themselves off when we signed pav who had better, recent decent than hayes.
A choice between benson, Abbott, sodje and Hayes. That's like saying who would you rather have dinner with, Fred west, Rose west, crippen or sutcliffe.
Well normally when I buy Bananas at Tescos there yellow, look like a banana, but when I get them open at home there a big let down, all wet and mushy inside, now I know you may say... Why not go to waitrose there bananas are much better, but I keep falling for the same trick, and buy duff bananas at Tesco.
he's potentially gonna be a charlton player so of course he is bid up , just like every other turd that's been thru the door in recent times
now if he wasn't to join and went to palace instead well you just wouldn't believe how crap a player he actually would become over night
weirdos all weirdos
It was funny once (a long time ago) and you even made some valid points a lot of which I agreed with but its been boring and a parody of yourself for a long while now.
Have seen Hayes play a couple of times without paying much attention, so have no strong feeling on this. Have done some reading up, and if Scunthorpe and Barnsley fans have it right, he is a good League 1 striker but that might be his level. I'm happy with that if that is how it turns out, we need to get out of this league, nothing more at this stage.
Meant to be a very good penalty taker as well, which on one hand is a positive, but on the other makes me wonder how many of those better goal scoring seasons were boosted by this.
If he does come though, it looks like its a player who wants to be here, which worked in Jackson's case and is a fact i like.

Just got an update from my mate.

You heard it here first! (hopefully!)
The jig saw is starting to come together
But it hasn't been announced on the OS yet
But we've had the pieces before.
We always come unstuck with the t***s putting it together.
His attitude stinks already.
I want him to sign now.

Weirdos :-)
well we have been falling like a stone for a while now and unlike some i haven't pretended things were rosey when they weren't
Seems like a good game. Think I will as well :-)
