  • [cite]Posted By: shirty5[/cite]Slater said that he wanted Powell to be the type of manager who improved what we had....

On current form, then Powell should be fearful of his employment in the near future. If Slater believes in what he says with the above comment.

But Slater said that it was certainly possible to win things without spending much money. He even gave examples of it happeneing. After all if Brian Clough and Bobby Robson can achieve success without much money why shouldn't he (Slater) be able to appoint a manager to do just the same, especially after interviewing a rookie for a whole hour.

    Easy Peasy!
  • Yes it does seem that way to me as well Henry, as much as I would like to think there will be a fund for new players, I cannot see there being a big budget, especially if the named players above are still on the pay roll. I think we would all add quite a few more, and probably in fairness some will want away!

I am confident that board will get a few people in, if Powell wants them! One of the things that concerned me is that Powells agreement may not be the decisive factor as his position is a lot weaker than it was at that meeting you mentioned albeit only weeks ago!.

Could be a very difficult position for Powell to be in if Jimenez especially brings a couple of his 'contacts' to the club.

If the board and Powell are united fine, in agreeing 'targets'!...... let us hope that there 'aim', does not mean they end up shooting themselves in the foot!
