Almost agree with SE9. Nobody could be doing any worse, he has one final chance on Tuesday to turn things round I think otherwise how can anyone have any shred of confidence in his ability to manage on an ongoing basis? He has taken an inconsistent team firmly in the play-off mix and dragged us down towards a relegation scrap - we are now 13 points from playoffs, just 9 from relegation zone.
What else could we expect though with the team we have. We lost 4-2 to Swindon when Parky got sacked and we were CRAP.
How can people be saying we shouldn't of sacked Parkinson when he was the bloke to guide us to our Worst run ever of 19 games or whatever it was without a WIN! Leauge positions when he left is irrelevant because whose to say we wouldn't be in the same position now?
Whoever said get an old head in to guide us... well we already have one. Kieth Peacock is on the bench every game with Powell, so answer that one.
Get real, we're not good enough for this season. Get over it. In the summer Powell will get a full pre season a chance to spend some money and I am confident things will be different next year.
Here we go, the Powell out brigade start.............. Goalkeeper not big enough/experienced - Parkinson signing Fry loss of form - Parkinson signing McCormack - as above Anyinsah Injured/Jackson injured - two best players this season Doherty - Parkinson signing Eccleston - clearly not mentally up to it in this league, too busy being philosophical on twitter.
I'd like to point out that i'm not singling out anyone above, just merely pointing out that Powell should not be judged yet on things that he has been lumped with. We are clearly low on confidence and light in important areas. Please can we just get off his back until he can be judged on his own terms.
For info, Gary Johnson has just got his first point for Northampton after 3 defeats, so even a manager that a lot on here wanted has to have time to mould his own side.
Very, very worrying position. Especially since our two main rivals - Walsall and Bristol Rovers - both picked up wins to put us in greater danger of the drop.
Still, at least fans can't be stupid enough to call for the manager to be sacked. There were enough people calling for Parky's head earlier in the season. And it's crystal clear now how daft that was.
The blinkered faith & protection of Powell on here is laughable, Charlton legend he may be but he is not a manager - Slater needs to do something sooner rather than later
Could do a lot worse than Danny Wilson IMO, took Swindon further than us last season.

3 of back 4....Jenkinson, Llera and Solly played by choice of Powell
McCormack - Parky signing yes, but still being played by Powell
BWP, Nouble - Powell signings
Eccelstone - harsh as he hasn't been given a chance up front where he should play.
The squad may be the same to Parky's, but the team is completely different. The tactics are completely different. Enough of this 'it's not his own squad'.....we won the first 4 matches with this squad, we were in 5th with this squad, then Powell made his own changes to it and now look where we are...
Well, I hope the tw@ts that wanted Parky out when we were 5th in the table with 2 games in hand are happy now, I like Powell, but from what I have seen so far he is not manager material. Yes it is early days in his managerial career, but I believe he has now cost us a shot at promotion this season.
People can blame it on the old board, the players, Parky, Curbs, Pardew, Dowie, Reed, JFH, Pouso, whoever they want, but simply put, the new board and Powell have ensured we are no higher than npower League 1 next season, and if that was the aim, what was the point in sacking Parky?
How can people blame the players? We had the same players when we were 5th in the table. If Powell had an ounce of quality we would have at least shown signs of becoming a good side by now.
But nothing. He has to go. We don't have time to burn, we need change before its too late....again.

had the chance to sign a keeper and didn't
McOxo may be a Parky signing but Powell keeps playing him
The board should have waited until the summer before getting rid of Parky and you may well slag off his crap signings (which agreed are numerous) but at least we were getting more good results than bad when he was in charge
depends on what we mean by clown.Someone who makes people laugh? well then i think he could be a clown as an awful lot of people are laughing at us right now.
If you were the board or the money men behind the Board would you give CP your dosh ? I think we will probably stay up (FFS--------probably stay up !!) but in the summer would you give loads of your own money ? This job was far to difficult for someone untested----------end of ------and now we are back in the catch22 position----yet again.

Yes we lost poorly to Swindon but only a month before we had beaten Carlisle 4-3 away, Swindon 3-0 away & Peterborough 5-2 away!! You can't sack a bloke based on 1 poor performance. And NO Parky did not lead us on a 19 game run without a win. Pardew went 8 games and was then sacked. Parky then went another 10 games before we beat Palace at the Valley.

Parky lost relatively few games and usually got a reaction after a bad defeat, you seem to forget. We were 5th not long ago but now have a mere single point from two dozen, where you get your confidence from God only knows.
Parkinson's team that averaged 1.8 points from its last 10 games, the average from Powell's last 10 games is 0.7 points - if it continues to drop he has to walk.
The board haven't been shy about the fact they don't really care for this season. And they've said they're going to spend money in the summer and have big plans for next year. So, at current, we have a squad of players who know that they will in all likelihood most of them will not be playing next season, with the added motivation that the club is expecting them to accomplish absolutely nothing this season. It's a ridiculous situation and could have been handled a million times better.

[cite]Michael Slater:[/cite]"Last night's defeat [to Swindon] convinced us as a board that change is required now while we are still in the hunt for promotion, and that we must appoint a new manager to give us every chance of going up."
I think Powell may realise soon that he is not up to it or maybe Slater will push him before he jumps. Either way I’m always one for saying give a manager chance but I’m sorry to concede that the signs have been there from the start that Chris is just not cut out for management yet.
Yes I agree that he been left with poor players that he did not sign, but it’s a manager’s job to get the best out of bad players. Not only that though, he has made many basic mistakes for me such as picking the wrong players, playing them out of position, making wrong tactical and substitutions changes at the wrong times, panicking and bringing in loans when they are not really better than the reserves and kids already here and all it seems to have done is disrupted the morale at the club.
That said however, I don’t feel there is any point in bringing in another manager now though, stick with Keith in charge until the until the end of the season, scrape enough points to stay up and have proper plan in the summer and not just another panic decision which is done just to please the fans.

Operation Walsall at the end of April. It's going to be an exciting end to the season after all.
